Loved it. There's some great films nominated for Oscars this year. Birdman, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Nightcrawler (only 1 nomination for some unknown reason), Whiplash...

Surely nobody can disagree with this one - The Thing (1982), one of the best horror remakes ever made. Right?
Actually, The Thing is not a remake of The Thing from Another World since they are 2 very different films. It's actually a separate film and a separate adaptation of the same original source material from 1938 called Who Goes There by John W Campbell, The Thing from Another World while a damned good movie was a rather poor adaptation of the original source material as it barely resembled it.

To me, the definition of a remake is when it's based on a motion picture produced earlier and it's original screenplay (one that is not based on any existing sourcer material like comics, novellas and books) like say The Blob, A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Hills Have Eyes etc. TRUE remakes in every sense.

Awesome movie! one of my favorite animated movies, sci-fi movies and comic book based movies. I first saw that 20 years ago on my 14th birthday i rented that on video after hearing so much about it in magazines and movie books, i loved it. I even bought it on video with Criterion laserdisc, had t-shirts, cap, poster, back issues of the comic from Marvel, CD soundtrack and that sort of thing and last year i bought the 25th anniversary blu-ray as it looks great on HD. And who knew Leonardo the turtle was Keneda's voice in the old dub? i chuckled when i first heard as i thought of Leonardo.

Nice choice MsMarvelDuckie, i dig TLU myself since i was a kid and been one of my childhood faves with Star Wars trilogy, Rambo trilogy, The Dark Crystal, Secret of NIMH, Boy Named Charlie Brown, Snoopy Come Home, Phantom Tollbooth, Flight of Dragons, Ghostbusters, Superman 1 & 2, Batman 1 & 2, Terminator 1 & 2 and so many more. Isn't it neat that the guys who did Thundercats and those holiday specials we all grew up with as kids did the film? it's one of my favorite fantasy films and i read the book in junior high, dug it and got the graphic novel. Nice solid cast eh? i thought so and what can i say about Lady Amalthea, she is *wolf whistle* as i had a crush on her when i was a kid and a teen. She is definitely on par with the likes of Taarna from Heavy Metal, Lady Death, Black Cat, Kida from Atlantis and more in my books as one of the hottest white haired gals ever plus one of my top 25 animated hotties, if ya know what i mean eh?

Definitely a film every brony and pegasister should watch once in their life, i did attend a 2K scanned restored version in one of my city's local theaters with Peter S Beagle live in person as i got him to autograph my graphic novel and wore a brony t-shirt.

I just watched those last thursday, awesome movies.

All 4 on blu-ray and the series blew my mind since i saw the first 2 movies on video 30 years ago and i saw part 3 in theaters 2 times when i was 6. Part 4 is a kickass gory no brain bloodbath i dig. John Rambo was one of my childhood heroes.

Saw that in theaters when i was 6 years old 3 times and remembered watching the cartoon, having the toys, cards, comics even Robocop vs Terminator and more when i was a kid. I watched it recently on blu-ray too and looks like it was filmed last year with the new 4K scan restoration on HD and great extras too even Director's Cut.

Despicable me 1 and 2 for animation
and for movie: 'Kingsman'

I was in the states, treated for a cinema, problem is, no subtitles, so I didn't understood much of what they were saying. My english is quite good for speech and listening but talking that fast was for me.... Oh boy

I had a lot of moments I had to laugh with, my stepmum is a Christian and I just got her the 'Angel of Grief' - so when one of them said something really nasty about the church I just lost it. Like: 'Oh no you didn't!'

My stepmum came out of the movies like: 'This was not what I expected...'
I just kept laughing how silly this movie was.

They advised me NOT to watch 'Exodus' - but I already read why. It was on my list, but again ... wrong time period. I studied "Mozes" and "Kamose/Ahmose" for many years with evidence of the 7 plagues coming from a volcano eruption 'Santorini' - it frustrates me that the 'Egyptians' were the bad guys. If you read what happened truly in these dynasties is the fact that Egypt was taken over by the Sitioe or Hyksos and the brothers wanted to free their own people from slavery.

It's mentioned in Ahmose's stella about the eruption of Santorini (even though they didn't knew it was a volcano) and National Geographic finally made the link. Even Kamose spoke about it.

So yeah that movie is off my list, many sites complain about it.

Now I'll hush, when it comes to 'Egypt' ... Boom, word vomit ...

Saw "Avengers: Age of Ultron" last night. It was good but not great. I'll see it one more time in theaters but after that I'll wait till it hits bluray.

I seen all three movies. One clip comes to mind that I found funny was in the second Robocop movie. The text bubbles were courtesy of the guy that made the clip.

Tonight's movie of choice is the 1939 version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame with Charles Laughton and Maureen O'Hara.

Jurassic Park, I think. Watched the original a few nights ago. Always good. Though as time goes on, the CGI in it becomes less impressive, which is unfortunate.

My 1,000th post.

In the last few days I've watched the original Mad Max trilogy, John Carter and just finished Oblivion.

I know all that. I've even read the original short story. But people still class it as a remake, plus it's easier just to call it a remake.

The Thing from Another World is indeed a really good movie and deserves its own Blu-ray release.

I get the impression that JS thinks he's the only person here who knows about horror movies, neh?

Anyways, my most recently watched (or re-watched, in this case) movies were Nightmare on Elm Street 1 through 4.
