No I didn't recognise that quote at all. I did history in second level. We did the discovery of America and the American revolution. If we keep on History we learn about racial conflict and civil rights, World War II, the US political structure, American foreign policy 1945-1989 (cold war), advances in technology and the moon landing, American economy and society 1945-1989, culture (hippies, breakdown of consensus) and religion.

The US History is optional when History is kept on and you could do another topic. Instead of the US we could have learned about nationalism and state formation in Europe, nation states and international tensions, division and realignment in Europe or European retreat from empire and the aftermath. We wouldn't have done much else on America in primary education either. It would have been similar stuff in less detail. That's the gist of things in Ireland.

Here were the essays last year:
What was the importance for US foreign policy on Berlin, Korea and Cuba?
Why did the Montgomery bus boycott take place, how was it carried out, and
to what extent was it successful?
What was the American Dream and to what extent was it reflected in life in the US, 1945-1989?
During the period 1945-1989, what advances were made by the Americans in military, space and information technology?

When we have to write essays on subjects like that a quote on the Statue of Liberty is a bit irrelevant. The other history was centred around Europe and Ireland. Somehow I doubt American schools teach too much about Ireland. Although I think in Germany they learn about the famine so that's ... fun. Could be wrong about that though.

Why would other countries learn about an American quote? Unless they came over at Ellis Island and had it quoted to them, or maybe watched that one Eddie Murphy movie, it's not like it's practical knowledge.

Why would they teach something so minor such as that? That quote has no relevance to world history. The only things I've learned about American history in school was their involvement in the World Wars and the Cold War. And also a little footnote on them gaining independence from England(one page in my 7th grade History book).

Each country teaches history from their own perspective. How our country has interacted with others throughout history, etc. And most European countries have a lot of history due to their age(mine is almost a thousand years old), so there's a lot to cover of national history already.

Actually that requires an insight that lacks a comprehensive outlook on what females actually think. Instead you are going off by media bias.

No a girl does not dislike sexual desire from a guy she is sexually fond of as well. It takes a sexually repressed girl to dislike sexual advances from a desired male. Or there is some mental issues such as she thinks she is not worthy and other self esteem issues.

Not in the way they were oggling her. It even made me feel uncomfortable. She's also a teenager. That's the main basis of why I posted what I did.

I was pretty much saying that she's young and probably not used to something like that. I know I would've reacted the same way at that age due to inexperience.

I think it's more of a curiosity thing as they sometimes try to poke them. These kids are preschoolers. Either way, to Japanese, I am "big". I can't use the baby carrier comfortably because of these things. I also can't buy a decent bra here. Too small and padded. No real support.

Isn't that because most Japanese women are small framed with small chests? Asian women tend to have a smaller build and be a lot thinner on average than other women.

As a very big dude who hopes to one day visit Japan, I fear how similar issues may hinder my experience. Like when you see folks visiting onsen hotels & they only have M & L robes.
