Even so the Turtles return to their same archtypes. Raph loses his temper throughout the entire show, Mike never stops being eccentric/goofy, Leonardo even after his Season 4 journey just goes back to the way he was in Seasons 1-2...Don more or less stays the same as a passive inventor.

Back up your claims with examples instead of generalizing, it's simple dude.

You are citing personality characteristics.

The fact that they're basically butchering characters from the 2k12 and 2k3 series.

Hun is just a minor character that you can forget in seconds, while in the 2003 show he was Shredder's right-hand man and, when he turned the Purple Dragons into a powerful crime syndicate, never lost...until the last season...f***...

Irma, Mona Lisa, and the Neutrinos had to be some of the best characters on the original show. Yet in the 2K12 show, Mona and the Neutrinos are NOTHING like their originals, with the Neutrinos and Irma being EVIL. They basically spat on those characters.

Look, I know that when you create something based off of the original product, it's not going to be the same as the original. But still, there has to be some similarities that will allow the next generation and the previous one to enjoy it. Even The Batman had some similarities to the original comics/animated series. It may have not been as good as the original, but it was still enjoyable. Here...no, just no.

The most recent episode with the Triceraton arena felt rushed. It was entertaining, but it was too darn short. I would have preferred a 2 part or even 3 part episode instead of just 1 episode. Have the turtles fight more aliens and stuff.

Hun will probably get more screentime when they come back to Earth.

LOL, what? Irma before the reveal was done fine and she was always planned to be a Kraang. And you're complaining about Mona Lisa, seriously? They made her part of an alien race that was established since Newtralizer showed up and it fit perfectly.

I'll agree with the Neutrinos however.

The only characters unrecognizable to their original forms are the Neutrinos and Hun. Every other character is a reimagined but true to their roots of older characters. They were never going to be exactly the same, IDW doesn't do that either.

Mona Lisa in the 80's didnt do squat she was just a love interest. While she is also Raph's love interest in the current show she is a badass Salamadrian Warrior. Irma was done well in this show she was the perfect disguise for Kraang to infiltrate the turtles lives. Man you Irma fanboys really can't get over this.

Yeah there is a lot going on that a 22 minute episode just can't cover.

However in show production there is a lot that is taken out for time or because the standards and practices deems it too dark for the designed audience.

I've taken a script writing course in college and from what I remember from that course is the standard 22 minute episode has a script that 25-32 pages long. It is hard to write a fully detailed story with that number of pages. It is possible as shows such as Gargoyles, Avatar: The last Airbender, and Teen Titans had solid stories in most episodes. But in action packed shows such as Ninja Turtles something needs to be Sacrificed.

Also TV shows have a several writers working on the show. As much as we would like to believe they corroborate ideas over what is going on...that isn't always possible. Because Episodes are more or less written at the same time.

Each writer is assigned episodes, they have some details of what will happen in said episode I.E. What characters would be in episode, what locations, what sort of events are going to happen.

Then they come up with a treatment...and then the script itself.

I favored Mona Lisa for the OT as a kid because she was smart, spunky, sarcastic, and a wise-ass. Her personality is what drew me to the character. As for OT Irma, I favored her because of her sarcastic personality...so yeah....

Didn't really contribute much to this convo, but just felt the need to share.

Every season four episode, I find myself saying "been there, done that." I could also be saying "Simpsons did it." Oh wait no, that was South Park. I mean, I could also be saying "4Kids did it."

To be more specific, here's a quote from another forum about the episode "The Arena of Carnage":

Quote:
Indeed, this episode pretty much is the same episode from season two of the 2003 series. Only real difference is the Triceritron they fight is named Xeno instead of Traximus.

Because he's a 4kids fanboy. They all seem to have a weird attitude towards the Nick series.

The irony of course being that any number of us seasoned fans could watch the 4kids series & say "Mirage did it." so...

The other ironic thing is all the TMNT series now re-use stuff from either Mirage or the original cartoon.

It seems like Mirage and the original cartoon have become the source material, so Nick, IDW, the movies, etc....pick and choose from them.

The 4kids series was supposed to be an adaptation of the Mirage comics though, but I get your point.

Hmm, interesting. I wasn't even aware that there was a TMNT animated series called "Mirage". I was under the impression that Mirage was TMNT's comic books, not an animated series.

TMNT & other comic book sourced properties spend their existence adapting previous material alongside new stuff. Yeah, that's all I'm saying, really.

What point are you trying to make exactly?

A cartoon drawing inspiration from its comic book origins is a world of a difference from repeating stories that were just told by its predecessor.
