I don't know about the US market, but for the rest of the world playmates rely on Marketing and distribution partners.

Unreliable partners will probobly effect world distribution (atleast outside the US).

I'm not sure what you think happens but it works the same way internationally Playmates ships their product to a warehouse then that warehouse ships the toys to where they want to ship them.

Distributors are just companies that move your product into a different market so you don't have to have a separate headquarters in that region Playmates doesn't want to open a Playmates South Africa or a Playmates New Zealand, if they can just get other companies to distribute their products to those retail locations in those countries.

It doesn't matter how much product Playmates ships to a distributor or a warehouse hub if the people at any of those locations doesn't actually move the product from their warehouse they could have every figure ever produced just sitting there.

Also, if Playmates doesn't think x character will sell well in x market they won't ship it there that's why some countries never get certain waves or characters.

This is why the choice of marketing and distribution partners is so important.

A delay or messup in distribution (due to unreliable partners) could understandably lead to loss of interest in a certain toyline.

You get my point, I am sure.

Where I live the distribution partner is Spin Master. Aside from providing the partner with stock there is a lot of changes to the packaging that need to be made as well before they ship.

Here the playmates logo is taken off the of the packaging except maybe a small one on the back and replaced with Spin Masters logo and they have to add French to the packaging for language laws. Also they print them now on cards that have the Bios removed and just showcase more figures in the line.

Distribution wise we get figures about 6 months later than the US.

Contacting playmates for info about upcoming products usually means they will refer the question to Spin Master and then they tell me to contact Playmates so it is pretty bad. Last time they never even told me they did that. I asked a question and a week later I got a message from Spin Master that a Case was opened. The next day they said you should contact Playmates as we just distribute for them. Shameful passing the buck.

Y'know, every other person has a different entity to blame for the problems with getting (any brand's) toys into consumer hands. All it ever comes down to is a big old ugly argument every time because everyone's convinced that their information is the only truth.

No there are those of us that are right and some that irrational and don't understand how the retail industry works. Also some of us get sick and tired of people blaming a toy company for their areas lack of product.

Let me use an example to show how the other sides argument is ridiculous. Let's just say I'm in love with Mountain Dew. I'm out of dew at home and go to Walmart to get some. However once I get to Walmart they are all sold out of Mountain Dew. So normal people two thoughts are going to cross their mind. A. Damn lots of people bought Mountain Dew today or B. Dam you Walmart for not ordering enough inventory or keeping your shelves stocked.

No one is going to go screw you Pepsi, your distribution is the worst and you are the worst soda company on the planet.

and to further add to this Pepsi actually does deliver the cases to the stores. Not like toys that get sent from the toy manufacturer to a central hub where the store divides it out to all their locations.

mmm, Mountain Dew. I'm so glad the brewery that makes Pepsi products in Norway have finally gotten to their senses and are going to make the Dew, we haven't gotten them yet, but the price labels and shelf space are waiting for them.

Which is great, cause the import Dew is like twice as expensive as regular soft drinks, due to a insane amount of taxes and import fees.

That said, here in Norway we're still lagging horribly behind with figures. I did actually see a Mix & Match Tigerclaw, which was pretty astonishing. And I've seen 1 store have those hero/villain 2 packs that was in the UK with the repainted Bebop, Rocksteady Shredder and Turtles.

Basic line is still on Mystic Turtles and Baxter Fly.

Well the figure I am looking for is an older figure so they should already be readily available. They all have the "space figures" like Fugitoid, Space Casey, etc.
Playmates rotates the basic figures in and out of production. All of the non-Turtle variant figures have come and gone and will likely get thrown into production again before long. (TMNT fans have no idea how lucky they are that this is the case.) So if you have a bit of patience, the regular Foot Soldier should show up again eventually.

I was worried there for a while as I read that. I was wondering if you were aware of what a bad example Pepsi is since they do stock stores directly.

Anyone gotten any of those new ones that transform into the vehicles?

Largely, I'm mainly curious about the Leo one and if regular figures fit seated on the transformed version (although it's a little awkward wondering if he could essentially ride himself ), would be a cool play use bonus if so.

Spoiler:

Shame they didn't do Donnie, as usual. If they somehow made him turn into Speed Demon that would have been awesome. I want a regular vehicle of that car, including an opening teeth-filled hood/mouth.

I am not sure about you guys but on Instagram, a toy collector bought a Dimension X Leonardo figure from Target, that looked like the Metal Mutants version from the 5 Pack exclusive from Target. I am not sure if this was an error or if it's official, but I just want to know if they are selling them individually now. I went to Target yesterday, and I never saw these individual Metal Mutants on stock (Speaking of Metal Mutants, I bought another one of those 5 packs in discount).

It is possible that they're being sold separately, the U.K. will be getting them sold separately, sold alongside the regular DX figures.

I may actually buy these if we do indeed get metal mutants separately! I bought the five pack but I don't want to open it. Thinking I'll get the individual figures to display by the Fugitoid ship if this occurs.

Hey guys, can you help me with something? I want you guys to please remind me what happened with the Kraang Prime figure. Was it cancelled, or was it just delayed alongside with Muckman?

That is literally what the people who disagree with what you said, say. It's like religion and politics... everyone says they're right and everyone else is wrong... and nobody ever has evidence.

I'm trying to head swap my Aprils but I can't seem to get the Space April head off. Can anyone that's done this successfully (keeping articulation) explain how they did it?
