Quit twisting everything, you lunatic! It's the mentality of judging a show/movie/comic based off some short clips before seeing the product in its entirety that's bad.

Isn't that the entire purpose of a trailer, or sample art? To entice the audience with a taste of things to come?

I think you may be confusing how we judge people and movies, or taking the book by it's cover a little too literally. First impressions of people are not always 100%; first impression of a film almost always is.

So apparently the place I work is open on Easter. What the hell. Grocery stores I can understand, but department stores? Oh come on. And guess who has to work that day from open till close... My lead and direct manager better have their own butts there then too and not go giving themselves the day off.

Who is even going to be shopping that day? The Hindus? We don't even get many of them there. Have a lot of Hispanic shoppers, but I know more often than not they're probably Catholic, and I know how the Catholics love their long church things and add in the big family stuff and those folks will probably be busy. Eight hours in the place and time will probably drag like hell... *sigh*

Guess it's good we're not a religious family, but we still enjoy doing dinner and whatnot. (Not to mention it's the first after my father passed, so...) I do get out at 6pm, but normally we eat sooner than that and hate to have to make the rest wait. Not to mention then I can't help out with it either.

I'm not 100% on this, but I think Easter is a loophole here because it's a Sunday - so they never bothered making it an official holiday because there wasn't any Sunday trading in the old days anyway. Monday is a holiday in lue, but everything seems to be open Sunday.

Makes me feel a bit old that I can remember when most places here were still closed on Sundays. (Granted I prefer them open, but a recall to it would be nice for Easter Sunday.) Now who's closed on Sunday? Just Chick-Fil-A?

Grind... nice and numb again, after another in a series of dental work. But at least this was just fillings and, though I've always hated that too, FAR easier than the last four painful ones that were for two crowns. Plus it's just the top that's numb, so it's less annoying.

Edit: Not really a grind per se, but still a "what is the world coming to *dramatic sigh*" kind of thing.

So I was sitting in the dentist office waiting room listening to a father talking with his young son. The son told the father to think of a superhero and the son proceeded to ask questions trying to guess. (i.e. "Is it a human?") Cute. (Secretly I at first hoped it was a Turtle. )

One question was, forgetting his superhero topic for a moment , if it was a YouTube person. Wuuut? Really? You're what, five or six? Esh, I swear. I mean, it's nice that the small percentage of people who deserve to be discovered for one reason or another and may have little other way to do so might have YouTube has an option... but otherwise, the whole "YouTube celebrity" thing is overdone and silly imo.

A little hard to wrap the head around that this is the world these kids know, and will only ever know. Where people get famous simply for posting videos of themselves online - and in some of those cases for basically just being attention whores and/or jackasses who don't really deserve the attention in the first place.

Kid got called back for his cleaning, so never did find out what superhero.

Though I must say it warmed the heart a little that this young boy's first question was if it was female. That one so young would not necessarily default to male characters as if female ones don't exist... there's still at least some hope for the world.

Why in gods name was it necessary for half the people in this region (or so it felt like) to go shopping at my store on frigging EASTER?? Have you really nothing better to do?

I had really expected it to be slow, and I kind of figured the non-Easter observing types, esp the Indian and Muslim immigrant sorts, might not really be aware that it's a holiday for the majority here... that's understandable. But the amount of black, white, and Hispanic, the majority of which are likely theists, probably of a Christian variety, and should in theory have better things to do than come to a clothing store - wtf. And WTF with the way people tear up the place. (Thanks jackasses... bad enough I didn't get to enjoy Easter with my own family, but I have to deal with that too? No, no, that's okay, I'm not really a person, just a robot there to play servant to you.) Yesterday was horrendous, and today was just as bad!

And come to find that my Lead is the one who'd done the schedules... conveniently giving himself today and tomorrow off. Kind of resentful over that, we REALLY could have used an extra hand or two. Me and the one other woman there (who left at 2pm while I had to stay until close...) not only had to take care of putting up/taking down all the signs we usually take care of on Sundays, but we had to do his too. (Gee, we did his last week as well. ) And then I alone had to deal with the disaster of the whole second floor. (And still looked pretty damn bad when I left.) Doing this entire weekend was brutal and I'm supposed to be in tomorrow too? I'm half tempted to call out after coming home so burned out, exhausted, and mad at the world. My feet and legs were already begging me not to go when I got up this morning, and now go back tomorrow.... just kill me.

(offers Indigo a hug) Sorry you have to contend with that nonsense dudette.

Gear grinder 1: This is more of a personal issue, but it brings me right back to family and at this point, I'm tired of it. Here at my apartment, there's a former Marine living on the bottom floor who holds no respect for anyone, constantly making noise. He's a frustration to deal with it at night and often infuriates my mom (I will get to it). Two weeks ago, he came to my door at about midnight and woke me up and I couldn't go to school, completely tired from his disturbance. Then, this Friday happened.....

Despite my personal disdain for my family, I do have to respect em despite my hatred. During Friday night, the guy was once making noise downstairs and angered my mom. She should have had more control and went downstairs peacefully; instead her anger caused this partially. The guy flipped out and attacked her, glass in the hallway and removing her clothes. He was thankfully arrested and will be removed on Wednesday from here, but mom is bruised and hurt from this event.

Besides the guy being a flat out jerk with controlling everyone, I also can't stand living with mom. She has a severe victim complex, claiming nobody understands what she went through. Look, I get trauma influences how our minds work, but I've had to contend with the same stories over and over. It almost feels like I'm being abused as I have to be threatened to work or else get arrested. It's continuous and I'm sick of it, this complex also hurt a rather mediocre Easter.

Gear grinder 2: Back to the school issue, I was sick the previous Friday with a sore throat. Emailed my teachers that I'd be out, didn't get a response from two of them. One of them was my English teacher who I've brought up before in the past as one of the most despicable individuals I've dealt with. We had an assignment involving advertisement. You had to pick out a relevant ad and explain it using "Scwamp" (Straight, Christian, White, Able-bodied, Male, Property-holding). Problem is, I got yet another F because I didn't do it "right" with putting in the wrong info.

Aside from the fact this assignment was given the day I was out, how was I supposed to know the guidelines of what I could discuss? To rub salt on that wound, she helped another person out the same day over me. Every time I enter English Honors, I don't want to be there because of her, it's a continuous pattern of me being an idiot. She'll help anyone, but never me; to know I can't be in Honors again next year because of her incompetence frustrates me as I know I can do the class, but her methods piss me off.

Also from school, I get yelled at in Italian because of stupid reasoning. May have been a bad day for the teacher, but seriously both times I didn't mean to screw up. I tried to put scissors away with someone at the desk, I accidentally look down at the desk with following classes that day, I get yelled at. I want to get stuff for my group to set up, I'm told to sit down. I go up to ask about something, I get distracted by looking at something. Then to be threatened for these petty reasons with family called.... I hate it.

I apologize for ranting, but honestly this school year has been my absolute lowest point guys. The friend thing I mentioned earlier this month, persisting family conflicts, failures that aren't my fault, moving, etc. I honestly want to give up on everything now, I really do.

You know what really grinds my gears? People who think it's ok to listen to a podcast without headphones in the middle of a coffeeshop.

People who use "don'the judge" for basically everything but don't realize they're judging...

I judge who my friends are and why (to some extent)...
I judge if I am feeling good, bad or otherwise...

You might judge how many brews is too many brews each time you go out...

There are weights and measures for everything.

Also, when you give your opinion with "x is bad" and as support or comeback someone who has an opposite opinion says "so you'don't rather have y"? when the initial statement doesn't involve or state the 2nd one in any way, shape or form.

That's all. Hope I don't kill another thread....

When typing just isn't working out too well and a word becomes unrecognizable.

ex.: ehtslmefes = themselves

A little credit still for getting a few letters in the right place and the correct length? lol

Along that same vein: people who think it's okay to have their phone on speaker, loudly (and think they were on Skype or something), in the break room.

Yup, in my half hour during work that I'd rather just have some peace for a bit, I totally wanted to spend most of it overhearing your friends/family and you going on about nonsense through your terrible sounding phone.

Nah. Hopefully that's not my job. lol I've been quite good at that in the past, though not so much on this forum. (Doubt a complaint thread could ever die unless by force since complaining seems to be human nature.)

I remember when everything closed midday Saturday. Auto shops still think that's the case.

I remember when one of the biggest supermarket chains in the country closed on Sundays. This was over a decade ago. I've heard that in some other countries(Belgium, per example) every supermarket is closed on Sundays. That sounds awful. And that there's countries where you can only buy alcohol at liquor stores, while here you can buy it at supermarkets and grocery stores. On the other hand, I wish banks were open on weekends here.

Now see, as someone whose body seems naturally inclined towards daytime sleeping schedules, I HATE when **** doesn't stay open. There are shops and things to do that I never get to do because it's never ****ing open and I think everything should be open all the time, so people can go to places whenever they want, sleep whenever they want, and get hired to work jobs during the times they want.

Like apparently society thought this was too hard so it never set itself up in the logical way so now it's too late

Now now, let's not say things we can't take back. Everything has its place - you just have to know how and when to use them. Lens flares on the other hand...

Ooh! I HATE that! It kills me when I get a bag of anything that has mixed flavors, and my favorite one only has one or two in the bag, while the ones I don't really like have TONS. Then I have to either choke them down, or find someone else who will eat them and save the "good" ones for myself.

I know, and this kind is each two flavors, in this case "sweet cherry/sour orange". Was good, darn it.

Grind... why is it so cold. Still in the low 30s at noon, what is that. And windy as heck. I'd wanted to go looking for TMNT figures again, but maybe I'll stay home. (edit: Never mind, I went looking and didn't regret it. )

Ebay sellers who low-key brag about their collections via the images they create.

For example, I just saw a TMNT Funko Hikari listing (a vinyl toy worth between $30-$40), & the picture shows said piece standing next to a super rare/expensive undercover Leo figure. Of course the description states it's not included & is just for scale. Do I expect them to include the other figure at that price? Of course not, I know the market. But am I supposed to believe that's the only figure you had on hand for scale purposes? A figure who's covered in cloth & worth hundreds of dollars? That's not a toy you just leave sitting around, grabbing with your greasy mitts at a moment's notice for such a thing. C'mon son, it's pretty obvious what you're doing.

Doesn't make me mad or whatever, so maybe it's not a "true" gear-grinder, but it's annoying...
