The only problem I have with this is that Image Raphael and Mirage Raphael are the same Raphael. They're not different characters, just the same one earlier and later in the timeline. They really shouldn't BOTH be there. Though I suppose I'm being overly pedantic.

Well there might be more than just 1 page based on this preview, yes I know they said it will be 1 page in each issue but maybe they want to surprise us

I’m pretty sure this is from the main story. The 1-page backups are 4 on 4 tournament fights.

Yeah I had the exact same thought. I always love to see Image representation, but did not care for the implication of that Raph being separate from Mirage.

I guess my headcanon is… that was Urban Legends Raph, who will go on to live the #26 ending (not canon to me), whereas the real Image Raph is from the Modeen/Dubakov Unfinished Business timeline (which is Mirage canon to me).

Another interesting note from that group shot is there was no Henson Raphael, but there was 2007 and TNM, which insinuates they’re both (separately) sequels to the 90’s trilogy. Which is how Andrew treated them in Odyssey.

Mister Ogg summoning versions of Raph and Michelangelo from Last Ronin universe might be from TMNT Battle Nexus issue 1 side story

I think in time travel/Battle Nexus type stuff there are ways to have different versions of the same exact characters appear from different eras in the same story... but it's mostly contingent on mind wipes when it's all said and done. But also, while I'm not saying these are bad writers, I'm not sure these guys are really arbiters of what is or isn't canon for the past 30 years.

Well I consider all this Raph from different universes which are summoned and Michelangelo from Last Ronin universe are canon to their respective universes and at end of this side story Mister Ogg might wipe their memories

You can be sure that the arbiters of what is and isn’t canon to TMNT are the folks at Nickelodeon, who make decisions based on elements of brand direction, legal clearance, and creative discretion.

Fans tend not to care about two of those elements, but they carry equal weight.

Welcome back Mr. Burnham! Long time no see!

We talk about this stuff all the time here, but I think what Andrew is getting at is Nickelodeon doesn’t really have the authority (from a fan perspective) to go back and retcon any Mirage history from 20-30 years ago.

Of course, they can do whatever they want lol. But it’s up to the reader to accept it or not, which is the beautiful thing about fiction.

Yeah, like I said in my opinion all this Raph from different universes and Michelangelo from Last Ronin universe that are bought is canon to their respective universes and that maybe Mister Ogg will wipe their memories after this side story

When you mention "brand," you've already... well, you know. But good luck.

Well he is right that Nickelodeon decides what happens with TMNT franchise, I know you did not say anything about this but I am just saying that he is correct about this

I'm more curious about Umeko aka Ninjara's side in this comic storyline, In the ongoing series, Her name was teased quite a bit, When a version of Raph from the future kept mentioning her name for some reason, and now she appears in the Battle Nexus comic, I wonder if she's from the main IDW universe, or some other dimension.

I personally am fine with Image TMNT being considered it’s own separate continuity because that’s pretty much what it became once volume 4 began. I’m not sure why there’s so much resistance over the idea now.

We don’t make the rules, sorry!

Just kidding of course lol. We had a loooong debate about this recently: https://forums.thetechnodrome.com/sh...ad.php?t=67532

Cliff notes version of my take is that it WAS canon when Image published it with Mirage’s blessing in the 90’s (and Savage Dragon was already Mirage canon at this point).

Then in 2001, Peter starts volume 4 and states he won’t be continuing that story. (But proceeds to call his book volume FOUR and doesn’t do a single thing to contradict anything from the Image run).

In present day we have not one, but two conclusion stories that finish that story and neatly fold it into Mirage continuity.

Look, the folks at Nickelodeon are free to declare whatever they want canon, just as I am free to ignore their declarations when they contradict the canon.

As for Image Raphael being Urban Legends Raphael, I'll take it. I have always preferred and will continue to prefer the Modeen/Dubakov conclusion, which I guess is now called Unfinished Business. That and the rest of Vol. 3 is my all time favorite TMNT arc, either close second or tied with the original City at War.

This entire thread reads like the ramblings of a council of lunatics!
But in all seriousness, I concede that whether Image’s TMNT should be considered canon or not largely is up to interpretation. I can definitely see the points made having merit, and I really do have to admit it’s my distaste for Image as a whole without even taking the Turtles into account influencing me to just jump on the idea of volume 3 being an alternate timeline, but it is what it is.

You pick from some forum default in your User Control Panel, or upload one. Helps you stand out better, especially when poor people are reading on mobile devices, which is all I ever do.

You too pal, get in the avatar line lol. How about a nice Triceraton?

But yes, good point about ignoring Nickelodeon. A good example in recent history is 87 Krang in the 2012 show.

I don’t know if this was even a blip on Nickelodeon’s radar at all, or just purely something Auman wanted to do, but it’s ridiculous to claim that Fred Wolf Dimension X is the same as 2012 Dimension X. Makes no sense.

I’ve read almost every issue of Saturday Morning Adventures and I don’t believe they’ve subscribed to that idea at all.

But TMNT Saturday Morning Adventures comic has appearance of Tiger Claw which kind of confirms that TMNT 2012 crossover episodes are canon
