But that doesn't explain why he was so certain that every Leonardo he encountered would hesitate when fighting him. At least Mirage Leo and Image Leo are not like that.

I started to think that this Shredder was just a magically created mirror image reflecting IDW Leo's inner fears, so it should be IDW Shredder, but for some reason they changed it to the a fake Mirage Shredder.

Perhaps all turtles' opponents have been altered in some ways.

By the way I read the first issue, and I am not as hyped as before.
Hopefully I'll change my mind

Yeah this sucked ass. Nothing happened. Not worth a trip to the comic shop on a holiday, but thankfully Saturday Morning Adventures’ Christmas issue was great.

I have the same fears with every tournament arcs in fiction: they can end up with more fanservice than actual stories.
The first issue felt like the narrator possessing a villain to have his favorite toys fight each other lol.
Don't get me wrong : I love fanservice, but I need to feel invested in the story.

The following issues will center on each turtle, perhaps they will satisfy me storywise ^^

This was a pretty dull issue, I have to agree. Mostly just Romero standing around and feeding exposition. I wonder what their plan with IDW Ninjara is going to be. As is, we’re given no reason to care why it’s her, it could have been Pigeon Pete standing next to Romero and nothing would change.

Yeah, I agree. Obviously fan service can be fun, but “Mirage” Shredder reciting one of his few lines of dialogue from his first appearance while he’s inexplicably rendered in black and white in a full-color book while also hitting the very strange pose from his ‘88 Playmates toy felt like overload.

Wow. I loved the first issue. And again the confirmation: Tom Waltz IS IDW's TMNT! Especially in contrast to that Aaron guy! The dialogues, the pace, a battle with B&R, history - and Battle Nexus, my favourite arena from 2003. And the art is amazing! Such a pity the artist will change next issue! Chapeau, Tom! Big thank you. Come back to the main TMNT book. Roninverse is not for me.

Can any of you name the council members along Simultaneous? One is the Daymio, i suppose. What are the others? And that triceraton is anyone we know already?

So far the first issue was a nice introduction, but they wasted a bit too much time with that pointless Bebop/Rocksteady stuff at the beginning. They could have saved a few pages by having the Turtles immediately teleported in the first panel to give more time to the story. I don't know why they spent the first few pages on stuff that took time away from the important stuff.

The preview for the second issue looks shaky, but this first issue was fine. Savanti has been a joke in IDW so far but this looks like his first legitimate role since the series began. IDW Ninjara has a nice design so far. Interesting Lord Simultaneous is here and doesn't care Savanti has Renet in chains either?

We'll see where this goes.

Well, Tom Waltz has a nice touch with humor that is always welcome !
I don't understand why we still have the narrative of "the turtles used to work better together and the team is weaker than before" but why not I guess.

All I know about the Dimension Council is that they were introduced in the 2014 annual, and they were not named then. The triceraton has a design very close to 2003's Traximus, however Zog was a warrior in the 2014 annual Battle Nexus story...

They are never going to stop hammering that the turtles are out of luck without splinter, huh. Taht's the vibe i keep getting from this.

I do agree that they should've focused on the battle nexus backstory instead of the Rocksteady and bebop opening. Probably a tease of the future competition. Though they acknowledged ~

I do like that Ninjara isn't just a copy/paste of the Archie adventures design. She looks good. It remains to be seen if her role will be worth it though.

Just like Big 2. IDW TMNT has the same issue. The writers are likely to ignore the turtles previous character development in each new storyline.

After the reading the first issue, it makes sense now. It's kinda implied that the 'others' Savanti mentions are other versions of the Turtles. So Mirage Shredder speaks with such familiarity because he's probably been pitted against several versions of Leonardo by now. Savanti's plan has been going on for a while before he got to the IDW Turtles.

So it is Shredder from Mirage TMNT issue 1, plucked sometime before his death... and having worked for Savanti dispatching several versions of Leonardo.

Thank you! Indeed. The art and story of 2014 Annual was so horrible, that I've disposed of it immediately after reading. Those guys were sitting on the council of Nieli as well...

I suppose that is the main plot point. TMNT will work as a great team again at the end of "Battle Nexus" storyline. Like in issue 50!

Whatever it's, after this event is over, this Mirage Shredder return to his universe and still get his butt kicked by Mirage Turtles. I wonder what kind of these other versions of Leonardo he had faced? Why he was so certain that Leo would always hesitate in fighting? It's because these other versions of Leonardo are still rookies in their timeline?
