They should be the ones to take over caring for the Tree of Fates. Keeps them available for future stories, makes them reaching out through the veil when they inevitably will into a big deal again, but they're not active in the day to day and the brothers can move on knowing their parents are reunited and proud and waiting, etc, etc.

That is 100 percent what I expected to happen. I guess Yang thought that would be too predictable? Sometimes the obvious outcome in a story is the best choice…

That would be sweet actually. Whether it’s predictable or not that’s a solid way to end the arc and go on to the next

Or perhaps they could enter the next cycle of reincarnation, so that at least one day in the future they would have the opportunity to meet their children in some way.

The lack of Vernon Fenwick returning from the dead leaves us with only one real solid conclusion; Vernon Fenwick, Ace Reporter, never actually lost his life during the Triceraton invasion and must be keeping a low profile until the world is in need of his bravery and charisma once again.

Or let Death take only Tang Shen's soul and the turtles, Splinter's Hamato QNA, allowing the Hamato family to reunite in a way.

As for the turtles and Splinter now, although they still have these memories, at least each of them would have the opportunity to choose to let it go and think about a new life.
