Disagree completely but to each their own. I only said Frank Miller because he is the one who originally did a “Batman comes out of retirement “

If writers are too retarded to come up with their own story of a retired Batman, then that is their own stupid fault. There is a million things you could with a Bruce Wayne coming out of retirement

You know what I’m sick and tired of? Every single damn Batman movie focusing on his origin and his parents death. We ****ing get it. My 7 year old son knows that story. Get over it… it’s like constantly doing Peter Parker in high school and never ever touching a Grown Peter except for the Spider Verse movies. If Pattinson wanted to do a third movie and it wasn’t coming out for another 6 years and he’s close to 50, you could easily do him getting older and retired, but have him come back for a new enemy. Or a Batman Beyond storyline where he is training a Terry McGinnis or something. Only if they ever did a third. Obviously it wouldn’t work as just a stand alone movie, but in a trilogy it would work just fine. Dark Knight Rises was a massive success.

But overall I agree. Many different stories they can do other than Joker all the time. Would love to see Mr Freeze done right, or Court of Owls, or If someone was half decent smart enough could make up a character completely new that hasn’t even been in the comics, but I highly doubt they will go that route

Yeah, it's either Dark Knight Returns or Batman Beyond and I'd rather do without either. I'm honestly over the whole "Bruce ends up bitter and alone", I reject any future where he hasn't settled down. People forget the golden age version of Batman did have a few years spent in retirement with Selina and their daughter (before Selina was blackmailed into being Catwoman again and wound up dying), and Tom King ended his Batman story with Bruce growing old with Selina while their daughter took up the mantle.

Before he was disgraced, Neil Gaiman wrote a pretty good coda to Bruce's life where the powers that be reveal his reward for all the good he's done is to be constantly reincarnated as the same person with the same origin and same mission...to always be Batman.

YES, goodness gracious. Can we before my whole lifetime is almost gone just get a Batman in an extended universe that is both able to deal with street level crime and GODLY threats like Darkseid and Mongul and such, and where a venomed up/enlargened Bane isn't the least bit weird? And we introduce shared universe characters (WW, etc.) that can also exist in that universe? Without obsessions about racism and whatnot? Is that just so hard?

Fair enough. And I’ll admit as much as I love Batman I know nothing about the golden age. But I agree

Completely fair. I would love to see that too

This 150 percent!!!! Completely agree. It’s been so butchered

Don’t get me wrong. I love every Spider-Man movie, but holy smokes can we finally get an older Peter Parker. I am so over the high school Peter Parker.

In the Civil War comics, Peter Parker is older and married. In the avengers movie, he is just a high school kid which is fine. It would just be nice to see a different variation similar to the spider verse movies where Peter Parker is older and has kids.

Isn't Batman Begins the only movie focusing on his origin? Ever other film starts with him as Batman. Also Peter Parker was out of high school in the Rami and Webb sequels and was an adult in BND.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the other poster is talking about. You might get a new version of the "Crime Alley Flashback" at worst, but it's hardly ever a driving focus. If Batman Forever had been a serious movie it might have been in the focus, but it wasn't.

Batman Forever definitely dives more into the origin in the director's cut, it has an interesting retcon where Bruce insists on seeing the movie and that leads to their murders.

Batman 1989 was likely early in his career since Joker didn't exist till that movie. It may not be Batman Year One but it was definitely in the early stages.

Also Comissioner Gordon didn't quite trust Batman yet in the movie and the police went after him too.

This is why I never bought into the whole "The DCEU failed because we don't know who the heroes are" Batman didn't need an origin, we know who he is and we also know superman, starting with Justice League works. When I watched Justice League as a kid I didn't post online about who Hawkgirl was, or Wonder Woman's origin. We eventually got that but it wasn't necessary.

As a kid I also didn't know Batman's origin, I used to watch BTAS without knowing, it wasn't until I caught the 1989 movie on TV that I saw his origin, and yes for the longest time as a kid I thought The Joker killed the Wayne's.

Batman forever focuses heavily on it as well as Batman Begins. And everyone including their dogs knows Bruce lose his parents in a back alley. People make out like a retired Bruce has been done many times before, but it’s no different than Bruce losing his parents. My point is that there is a million things you could do with a 50 year old actor being Bruce if Pattinson wanted to. It doesn’t have to fall in the exact storyline as Frank Miller

Lol not sure what I’m talking about?!?

Literally every Batman movie has focused or shows Bruce’s parents dying. My point is having 2 or 3 movies of Bruce Retired and coming back as Batman still won’t be done as much as movies showing Bruce’s parents dying. If Pattinson comes back for a 3rd movie and he’s 50, you don’t need the primary focus being on him retired. You can show it a bit at the beginning, and he comes out and either trains someone, or he himself is Batman.

Whether Batman Forever was considered “serious” or not, everyone knows Batman Forever. Focusing on his parents death has been done just as much as a retired Bruce Wayne, and nobody seems to cry about it. In fact it’s been done a lot more

This is also hypothetical. Highly doubt it happens. I’m simply saying, Robert at 50 could still easily do a third Batman movie. I just don’t get why certain people get all butt hurt and say, “that’s Frank Millers story !!!! Nooooooo”

As if having a retired super hero is some brand new concept and can’t be touched by another writer or director lol. Give me a break

Production briefly suspended again because someone got hit by the Batmobile.

Is Danhausen directing this picture?
