Well, at least Raph's is being released first.

Okay, with regards to the 5 "prequel" comics...

They do not bridge any sort of gap between old movies and new movie. What they do is give us more of a "back story" to the new movie. That is, they provide us with additional story material that while not pivotal to the story or events of the new movie, are, we hope, interesting back stories (background material) that relate to either the characters or events of the new movie. Does that make sense?

See, there are five prequels, each focusing on a different character. In order of release:

1. Raphael
2. Michelangelo
3. Donatello
4. April
5. Leonardo

(Sorry, Splinter!)

And in addition -- and in varying degrees of tightness or looseness, depending on the issue -- each issue leads in some way to the next, although not in the usual "to be continued" fashion. (Each issue stands alone as a complete one-issue story.) I guess I'm saying that there are secondary elements to each story that carry into subsequent issues.

Anyway, we just sent the solicitation info for each issue to Diamond for their January issue of Previews, for comics coming out in March.

Oh, and all 5 covers fit together to make one wide single image. I don't think we'd ever put 'em together as a poster but... you get the idea.

Oh oh, and the idea that us Mirage folk should have individual blogs on the Mirage website is a great idea. Me, personally, though... I'd rather have and would need an additional hour or two a day! Blogs, at least for me, take a lot of time. I tried one once... and lost it after one mere posting. How pathetic is that?

What does KM mean by "aspects" of the second film? Again, I'm not looking for crazy spoilers or anything a general answer can work just as well. Thanks for your time.
I too have been curious what aspects of the second film means. Murphy, any light you can shed would be greatly appreciated.

Um, I dunno.

So I asked Kevin. Here's what he had to say:

"I'd say the answer to the question is that the things acknowledged from 2 are that Shredder is dead, the turtles discovered TCRI... and that Vanilla Ice is dead. I would say, tho, that the film mostly follows the 1st, and has 'nods' to the 2nd and 3rd for sentimental reasons."

Sorry to disappoint, I know you folks were jonesing for the return of Tokka and Rahzar.

Murphy, I'm curious, what projects are you working on right now? TMNT and otherwise. Do you have a website?

Damn! I was hoping that first draft I script I read was going to make it all the way to release - y'know; the one where Tokka, Rahzar and Vanilla Ice were central villains. Oh well, I guess I'll be able to make do with what we get then...

Disappointing ain't it? Could have been awesome, but it wouldn't work now anyway. tOkKa's pursuing his artistic side and Rahzar's tied down with the long hours, the investment decisions, the wife, the kids... you know how it is with the busy life of a television executive.

Thank you sir. You are a gentleman and a scholar. And a comic book writer too!

holy crap, murphy's posting here!!!

welcome! i know this is off-topic but did you manage to get you're hands on a Dirty Pretty Things album?

oh, and go on, give everyone else at mirage this forum address!!

i'm also a lurker at the image comics forum, (the robert kirkman section that is) and my favourite thing about it is that he, and ryan ottley (the artist of Invincible) are regular posters there. ottley (or WYA has he's known as) has a thread all to his self where he posts up exclusive up and coming artwork, its pretty cool! so go, give mr lawson a nudge!!

and a blog at mirage would be awesome!!

Didn't Peter and Jim used to post previews and sketches and whatnot up at Planetracers.com? It's been a while since I checked it out...

If iris agrees with tookie, and gobo agrees with iris, and none of them use capital letters in their screen names, logic dictates that everyone who has ever written words with uncapitalized letters agrees that Mirage should start a blog.

Hee... no really I hope for some cool scenes too, but above all I'm hoping for good storytelling. I don't think I have to worry too much.

This thread is really amazing! I have a question for Murphy. I, as well as many, were wondering about the story for this film. Some seem concerned about the monsters. I just wanted to make sure that the monster angle in the film is done well. I don't know if that sounds right, but monsters against ninjas tends to seem out of place. I love that the movie is story heavy and is darker. I guess this is the last of my fears. If you could kindly answer, I'd be grateful. Thanks Murphy.

Murphy, since you're able to get an answer from 4Kids/Funimation (something I think most fans have been unable to do) could you ask them what the status of the Lost Season DVD is and when we can expect to hear a release date?

Thanks!

I sincerely hope this movie rocks, I hope it does really well and makes the summer movie Transformers look like even worse crap than it already is. We need this Turtles to show the movie makers how to make an 80's property into a movie without alienating fans.

I'm just a little disappointed with the script, when I heard this was a follow up to the original movies I almost crapped myself, but from everything we've seen/heard so far (which I admit isn't much) it seems like the movie should just completely start over. I have faith that Mirage will keep the big movie companies in check though.

God I can't wait... Is there going to be a real trailer soon? The movie comes out in less than 5 months now right?
