I never thought they would do that well!! I assumed cause none of my students ever mentioned going to see it. All they talked about was seeing The Hills (bleh) and Mimzy(cute).

YES! This is great news. It's going to have a strong weekend. A ton of people I know couldn't make it to the movie last night, but are going tonight. It was talked about like crazy at work this morning.

I'm going to see it again tonight. I went with my younger friends last night. Tonight, I'm going with my mom and aunt, and some of their friends. I think a cousin might join us too. But alot of people are hyped about this movie.

I just hope next time, PG-13 material, more substance (not so rushed) and I'd like to see this excellent CGI in an IMAX version!

All the showings were sold out last night. I watched it at 12:10 AM, and we got in the theater at around 11:55 AM, thinking it would be empty, but we were wrong. Packed, it was. We had to split our group up. There were people sitting along the aisles.

I only spotted two kids in the audience (well, it WAS past midnight), but everyone else looked 20 years old and above.

Same thing happened in my theate mundial. There were people sitting on the steps to watch the film, and they had two, count them, two screen going on at the same time. And this was at the 10:30pm showing. I dunno if this is a good thing or not, it's been a while since I've been to the theaters, but the buzz were the Turtles, despite the theater thinking that the Hills Have Eyes would be the shiznit this weekend. Boy were they wrong. And I'm glad of it.

Hey, with 300 and TMNT supposedly taking the two top spots this weekend, seems CGI is really finding it's niche in the world. And so many people were hating on the Turtles for being CGI, would even check the movie out. Fools.

Thought i read on the monroe thread about him thinking sequel at 100 m. and were at 34.5. That means at nine dollars a ticket we need roughly 7.3 million more people to go see this thing before it leaves theaters. I love the movie but i cant see it that many more times.

I've been thinking about that 100 mil thing. Is he sure that's really what they want to greenlight a sequel, of have they since come to their senses and opted for 50 mil instead. Because even at 50 mil, Warner Bros will still be getting they're investment back and more.

The Warner Bros. animated feature film TMNT grossed an estimated $8.7 million its opening day according to ShowbizData, averaging $$2,798 in 3,110 theatres. That points to a weekend take somewhere between $25 and 27 million, roughly where the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live action movie opened back in 1990.

Also yesterday, Zack Snyder's historic epic 300 added an additional $6 million to its box office take going into its third weekend, where it's likely to cross the $150 million mark after 15 days.

I wonder what the figures are in other parts of the world. I may have to go see the movie again if it helps put the figures up. Even if the movie doesnt make $100m in theatres, I can assure you DVD sales will help out.

Take Fantastic Four for example. The only reason that got a sequel was because the DVD sales were so high. If we have an HD DVD or BluRay release then TMNT would be on a lot of peoples 'to buy' lists.

I'm about get an x-box360, anyone know if they still come with the hd-dvd players? I heard that the new black ones with more hard drive space that are coming soon are not gonna have hd-dvd players installed and we'll have to buy them seperately, but I'm hoping the regular 360's theyre making right now still come with them. I have an hd-tv in my room and im dying to see this movie in hd on it, what do you guys think the chances of this coming to hd-dvd are?

HD DVD is relatively high since WB supports HD DVD over BluRay right now. However, even if you buy a 360 right now you will still need to fork out for a seperate HD DVD drive.
