This is the second thread where you told me I need to get a sense of humor. Sorry but I will never find degrading other people for my own amusment funny. And I am fairly certain were roles reversed and a group of people were ganging up on you and saying nasty things in "good fun" you wouldn't find it that funny either.

Do I think Peter sits at home and loses sleep at night over what fans say about him. No, never have. Still doesn't mean I find cruel name calling funny and if that makes me too serious and unamusing, so be it, please start labeling and name calling me next.

I know for a fact I didn't come in this thread with intentions to bash Peter Laird some one who got me into art in the first damn place.
I make fun of myself, tv shows, music, my friends and just about everything I like a little toungue and cheek never hurt anyone especially since it's not the first nor it is going to be the last time it happens in the history of mankind.
Oh and trust me I've taken a jab to the gut from many a goon in my day on here and many other places including *gasp* real life!
And I wasn't directly talking to you and sorry if this is insulting to you also but I don't even remember replying to you in another thread.

I do wonder what he would think about me making Benvenuto.

Just an official opinion from the head man would either make me or break me.

Er... on second thought, he'd probably laugh his ass off.

Either that or mistake you as April when she got mutated into a turtle and had the whole white bandanna thing going on back in that issue of the Archie comics.
But you do bring up a good point I wonder what he'd think of all the "mock turtles" running around.

Or maybe he'll be like "Damn, why didn't I think of Benvenuto" aka maybe he would be jealous lol

Benvenuto rocks

For my own two cents, I think Laird should be proud that his creation captured people's hearts. So much that people have created their own characters (like Benvenuto), fanfics, etc. If not, then I'm sorry to say and I mean no offense but that would be pretty crappy of him (Laird). Again no offense.

He'd join this place many moons ago if he was interested in keeping in touch with the fans. Or maybe he's already joined and is a frequent member under some username that could not be easily associated with him... who knows?

He could be anyone here.

Oh. So, you're Peter Laird. Pleasure to meet you. ^_^ Have a mango.

Heck, maybe Robbie's on to something. Anyone thought to invite Peter here, granted the discusion stay civil. I mean, it's ok to disagree, it's all about how you present yourself.

reading off some of the complaints in here, it turns out that Peter Laird is actually a bit like me. i'd show a link but i'm too lazy to do that at the moment. I'm in a huge argument with movie fans around the world concerning the use of American-English on my re-translation of old Hong Kong films.

but by all means, i'd welcome Peter Laird to interact with us. who are we to condemn him from coming anyway? he's got his artistic principles that he intends to stick to. we should respect that. i also wanted to personally thank him for creating one of the most catchiest franchises ever.

Peter talks like Donatello. He uses words like unmitigated and ubiquitous in everyday discussion. Will we be able to understand him?

Yes, I'm kidding. It's been a long day.

i'm sure peter was picked, and/or frozen out all the way through grade school for being fat and ugly, and the only reason he didn't commit suicide waddling in self-pity is because he could draw.
so all those years feeling like a nobody, and finally he manages to grasp a bit of importance with TMNT, of course the guy is going to go mental when people bash the ONLY thing he knows how to do right.

ugh.

The Turtles are like...his kids. for lack of a better analogy. I know myself, as a dabbling writer and artist, having people comment on the technical mistakes is hard sometimes. It's something I created...it's like a part of me. It's like holding a spotlight to my flaws and no one likes that. I dunno...maybe that's just my own sensitivity.

I can totally imagine that for him, coming to a site like this and having any criticism of the franchise would sorta be like someone saying sh** about his kids. It's REALLY hard to hear stuff about your 'baby'.

I don't know about using this anology. But, say, what if your kid does have an issue, and you are too biased to see other people's perceptions and views on the situation, and do something about it before your kid goes to far and ends up in a Columbine situation?

I know this is ridiculous assumption, but sometimes, critical views, and praise from fans, can be used by a creator to his advantage by fleshing out his characters to areas and ideas he's never thought of before. It's actually a more healthier approach then "if you don't like what you read, don't read it!" scenario.

That was kinda what I meant. we can see it rationally because we are somewhat interested third parties...but that is HIS creation. And like it or not, HE is the final authority on it. Much like a parent is on their child.

When you are a parent (sticking with my analogy) you often do see the flaws and do realize them, but would take offense if someone else brought it up. (kinda reminds me about my parents and my little brother's drug problems) They knew what was going on....but would fight to the death if someone said something about him. (personally I woulda thrown him in rehab...but I am but an interested 3rd party...not the decision maker)

I'll have to deal with him some day. Not a pleasure I am looking forward to.

Yeah. Sorry about your brother. You are in a tough spot, I won't dance around the bush there. But there is help out there when the time is right.

So you think sometimes Peter may be a bit blind by what could work for the Turtles because it's his creation, and he may feel offended when someone suggests an idea that could work?

Heh, well, I have my own perceptions of what the Turtles are. I have read some of the comics. They are ok, but I think the artwork in the animated version is better. Since I somewhat don't like the comics, I'll follow Peter's advice. Don't like it, don't read it.

Good thing the movies and for the most part, 2k3 toon, has more of my type of fan friendly atmosphere going for it.

Pete's pedantic parlance precludes participation?! Pure postulation.
