True... but they weren't ever meant to crossover. I bet back in the day they never imagined the cartoon coming back based on the original comics and catching on.

I tend to play the peter laird cannon game with the old toon I consider most episodes done by David Wise to be the Cannon episodes of the show, and then theres a few other exceptions. |

-Raphael is a smartass instead of being the angry turtle from every other version.
-Shredder is a whiner, making it impossible to ever take him serious as a threatening villain. Other than that, I love all the goofy aspects of the show, from plots ripped off from b-movies to April being a damsel in distress. |

Actually, you know what annoys me about that? They don't know whether to make them amphibians or just regular reptiles. Sometimes they can Breath underwater, and sometimes they can't. Reminds me of this exchange-
One of the Turtles: So, you think you can tell us the secret of breathing underwater? One of the Punk Frogs: Nope! That secret dies with us. But they COULD breathe underwater. Had April said it, maybe...

All turtles in reality are reptiles though. They just hold their breath for hours like other gill-less creatures do. So, I guess it was meant to be satire, but they delivered it so matter-of-factly that I had arguments at school for years afterwards about them not being amphibians. It was sickeningly frustrating.

Oh yeah, I remember that one, of course I don't think that secret would've helped in that scenario, ability to breathe underwater doesn't help in quicksand.

the disconnected continuity that occured in the show, one of my biggest beefs is the situation with Baxter the fly.
The "girly" sounding grunts that the turtles (in particular Raphael) made on occassion. It is a serious bug out! The turtles would be in the midse of a battle with the ground around them being peppered with gun shots and out of no where one of the turtles would dive for cover and you'd hear a very femimine grunt come out of one of them. And it's like WTF?! This is more prominent in season two.

You do have a point. I mean, sure it's a cartoon, and cartoon characters have their food they may be obsessed with. At least Popeye and Bugs had vegetables like spinach and carrots, things that are healthy. With a diet of all pizza, it's a wonder the turtles weren't too fat and slow to do their ninja stuff. Sure they burn it off fighting Shredder, so they wouldn't have as much of a weight problem as anyone else would eating like them, but still, a lack of balanced diet would really put them at a disadvantage.

^ Ha. They balance their diet by putting all kinds of goofy foods on their pizza. The pizza is like the dinner plate and the variety of foods are the toppings.

Yeah the TMNT go from eating normal stuff like mushrooms, pepperoni and extra cheese to even adding candy, cereal and even different flavors of ice cream.
I wish they had made real ice cream pizza. But I mean like a flat ice cream cake kinda designed and sliced to look like a pizza. |

And it got contagious too.. April started eating weird pizzas too and in Irma's birthday episode she was eating ice cream pizza too.
I always wondered why the turtles ate normal pizzas in the live-action movies and my mom (may she rest in peace) pointed out that it was most likely so the actors wouldn't be forced to shove real ice cream and whatnot pizzas in their mouths. |

You mean.... April has a social life outside of chasing news stories, getting kidnapped and hangin with the Turtles????
I remember the ep where Irma was kinda depressed when she had to settle for 'dinner for 2' just having pizza with April. Well, don't feel so down Irma, April's not exactly out on a hot date every Saturday night either... |
