I saw those yesterday, but thought to myself that since people see the site anyway, there really wasn't a point in announcing it here.

Oh, how wrong I was.

I stopped by one of the Family Dollar stores here a few days ago before reading about this set just to see if they had gotten any new toys in and found nothing. But yesterday I went to another and sure enough, found a full case of these. They are $5 each which is a good deal for what was a regular figure plus a mini figure.

If anyone wants a hand getting these sets, drop me a line.

I just got mine from the Sith Lord CJJ... it is a pretty neat set. I tried taking photos with my new digital camera, but it turns out that it wasn't my old webcam that was crap, but instead the lighting in my apartment. I'll take it to work tomorrow and take pics there, but I can't do that with everything I want to photograph. Anybody know how to get better lighting for photos if your camera doesn't have flash?

It's actually pretty easy and cheap. My set up is as simple some contact paper for a background and a trio of cheap lamps. You want to provide light from all sides equally, and preferably light that isn't too harsh. Buying a better quality bulb such as the GE Reveal light bulbs will make a difference in getting more true to life colors as well. (Try not to mix traditional bulbs and CFL's or other types of bulbs.) The final step is to check the settings on your camera if it has them. In particular look for the white balance settings. Those couple of steps should make a huge difference in the results you get.

Yo, eat me dude :p I only get mostly army builders and custom fodder these days. The difference between the camera I just got and the one my parents have is $80. $80! That's a bloody fortnight's grocery bill!

Thanks for the tip. I know for a fact my camera has a white balance setting. I just am not much of a photographer, so I wasn't entirely sure what that entitled of.

One thing I noticed (which will be apparent once I get the photos uploaded... I forgot to bring the USB cable to work, and I can't find an SD slot on these sodding iMacs....), the Leo of the set has green shoulderpads - the same green as the rest of his skin, so it looks like the spikes on the pads are part of his body! This can't be a painting error, as every version of the figure - including the one pictured on the back - have the same thing. However, every picture I've seen of the standard Mini-Mutants Paleo Patrol Leo has white shoulder pads. Can anyone who has the latter confirm?

The camera I had previously was actually a double webcam set that cost $30. This one is an actual digital camera that takes photos and footage, and cost $70. The thing is, this camera does everything my parents' $150 camera does except A) have a flash and B) come with a printer.

Ummm... yeah. $70 isn't a good price for a camera these days?

Anyway... back on topic... the figures? Anyone have Mini-Mutant Paleo Patrol Leo? Are his shoulderpads white?

The S: Before I got the camera I use now, I also used to have a digital camera that lacked a flash. I found I got the best results taking photos outside with it, with natural light (just make sure the sun isn't shining directly on what you're taking pictures of)--give that a try.

Do you even get what I was hinting at? And besides, this camera isn't crappy :p It doesn't do ONE THING that I want. Everything else is gravy. I shouldn't have to shell out $80+ for a little lightbulb that blinks!

And why the fruitin' hell does this keep going off-topic?! Okay, through Vaughn's confirmation and the photo of the figure on ninjaturtles.com, it has become apparent that the shoulderpads of Leo are unpainted on the original Mini-Mutants Paleo Patrol Leo, instead of being white like the package shows. Oh joy. I thought the green-padded version was a variant. Y'know, if I get another one of these Leo/Raptor two-packs, though, at least I'll have a reason to keep the Leo around - I'll paint his shoulderpads white... and then maybe mail him to Playmates with a letter saying "This is how you do your job bitches!"
