Nickelodeon: "they want to focus on the '80s toon Turtles"

That's the word on Nickelodeon's modus operandi for TMNT.

Not a surprise. Looks like the fans who wanted the return of Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady will finally get their wish.

Who knows. I hope the TV series can at least be the same tone as the 2k3 show. Meh.

My last remaining hope is that they do something about the racist and sexist overtones in the original toon.

Could be interesting, especially if the toon gets a darker tone. Where did you read/hear this Andrew?

A TMNT show in the vein of the Archie comics would be awesome...but I'm biased.

I'd be all for that...kind of a happy medium between the 80's and 2k3.

Sure sounds like it.

That only leaves one thing to do, at this point...

No surprise really, Nick didn't buy TMNT without wanting to use the 80's characters (there really isn't any worthwhile story elements though), I can only pray the series maintains the tone of the 2k3 series or Avatar.

I think this is cool as sh*t for the cartoon... but it ain't how I envisioned the movie. I hope they're totally un-related.

Now that you mention it, this may very well mean a change in direction for the movie, the Mirage origin movie may be out the window.

It's a Latin expression. "Method of Operating," basically.

I'm not going to believe this, because I can't possibly imagine a movie studio in the year 2012 greenlighting a movie where a Japanese man is physically turned into a rat. I can't wrap my mind around that.

...

Then again, they did whitewash the entire cast of Avatar, except for the badguys, of course.

Ugh, now I'm all sick to my stomach again.

If going with the 1980s cartoon version of the Turtles for this new gig is even half as entertaining as "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" (a show I absolutely love) then I'm down with it. No point in throwing a fit. S'not the like Viacom would listen to me, anyway.

I'm cool with this stuff. I've always been cool with this stuff.

As long as it doesn't become the sole face of the TMNT. That's why I still have major trepidations about the buyout. This is a fine idea for a cartoon, as long as there are other versions available in some way, shape or form. Even if it's just TPBs and whatnot.

Ah, thanks! Good to know ^_^

BtT:
I have to say, now after hearing it, I kinda love the idea bringing some old 80's TMNT Action back! I grew up with that toon!

Can't wait for more details!
