I mean, we get it. The older cartoon was more light-hearted than the newer one was, but the Turtles didn't all have one shared obnoxious personality and constantly give each other noogies. And you never, ever saw them cower and cry in fear when facing an enemy. Shredder and Krang were kind of funny here, but not nearly in the same way as in the old show. This movie seemed like a cool idea, but kind of poorly executed in my opinion. I'm guessing fans of the newer cartoon probably found more to like in this than old cartoon fans like me.

That said, there were some aspects I liked about it, especially the animation. The OT characters and setting (especially the lair) were perfect visually. I also really liked the scene with all of the different TMNT "universes." Plus, for all of its faults, I found it to be pretty entertaining throughout, and it did have a few funny moments. Still, I think the 25th anniversary of the TMNT deserved better, or at least something that showed some respect for the aspect of the franchise (the OT) that really put TMNT on the map for most fans.

i agree with most of what you said. but despite all that, i really enjoyed TMNT Forever alot

I fully agree that the original 'toon characters could have been handled with a little more of the sparse dignity they were known for, but here's how I recall someone explaining it: the respect for their universe came from them saving the day repeatedly in spite of their lack of seriousness. Without the transdimensional portal stick, exploding throwing stars and Bebop & Rocksteady's clumsiness, the conclusion would have been a lot more depressing.

It was the 'one time only' popcorn for breakfast feature edit again, not the episode-length edits. We still haven't seen the director's cut on tv yet, but that may not ever happen.

Maybe we'll get lucky and Nicktoons will show it uncut after they finish airing the series.

Though, if they do that, I expect DVD news shortly before/after. You hear me Nickelodeon!? D. V. D!

Even if they aired every episode uninterrupted, it would like 3 years before that time comes.

Who says it's only going to air weekly? The series is in rerun, after all.

True. Still, if the series gets good ratings to start with... get Turtles Forever out there. They don't need to pussyfoot around and make the audience sick with Ninja Tribunal and BttS before releasing TF.

I think by Utrom Foot Soldiers, he may have meant the 80s Foot Soldiers after they were amped up with Utrom tech.

I wouldn't mind one of the Utrom-amped up Technodrome myself...or one of the Technodrome period. I never did have that toy...
