Maybe they watch criminals that rob banks and stores then beat them up and take some for them selves before the cops arrive.

There are times they cooked their own pizzas. Mikey especially.

But yeah, plot hole on their income is huge. Then again they're well known in their universe, and there's a couple of times they won contests from costume parties.
