Splinter as Walken= You four are...Unique. The, outside world... can never accept you... as you are. So when you attack...you must strike hard. And fade away...into the night.

That would be epic win right there.

Christopher Walken as Splinter is the WORST idea ever!! How can you think of such a disgraceful, disgusting idea!?!? That is just the silliest thing ever.

..

Christopher Walken as OT Baxter Stockman, on the other hand, has promise! Give him the same hair he had in Batman Returns, and we've got the next great film performance of a lifetime!

Thumbs up

Like a LOT of folks here, I would like to see something a bit different, but with a bit of the Mirage comics thrown in.

What I definitely DON'T want to see is a 20-some-odd year jump nback into the past, and them reprised the ORIGINAL movies! It's bad ENOUGH that though nitwits over at Paramount are thinking about using stunt-people and/or actors in costumes for the guys, and likely a puppet for Splinter, rather than them doing a hybrid (live-action for the humans, and CGI for the Turtles and Splinter). I've seen a TON of excellent hybrid movies lately, and the 2012 TMNT movie would work VERY well in that format.

Urgh. This retro, "blast-to-the-past" crap is going to kill us all. IMHO.

mirage. It's not that violent compared to other superhero movies and it kinda tones it down after issue 1 or 2.

I remember when I first registered, I made this same exact thread and stated I think it would of been cool to do the B&W Original Comics. Now, I'm not even sure.

I would love a movie done in the style of the Mirage comics, but with a little lightheartedness so that the younger kids wont be scared. I honestly think the great thing about the TMNT is that there is something for everyone. I love the comics and my nephew has just discoved my dvds of the OT.

I think it would be cool to see them as adults, but with a harder tone set to them. I mean, kids aren't exactly interested in TMNT anymore, and it barely sells so I say make the movie for us adults who love the series and want to see it grow a little. I'm not saying make it as gory as Ninja Assassin. Like they would take on different characteristics of Splinter. Show a tad bit of blood here and there, and have it end in an awesome cliff hanger.

There's a big problem with that. Only a small portion of adults still like TMNT, smaller than the amount of kids that still and could be conditioned to like TMNT.

Also it wouldn't be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles anymore. It would just be Mutant Ninja Turtles and that just sounds unappealing.

^^ Agreed. No studio worth a damn would ever consider making a TMNT movie that would really only appeal to a select few fans that want a Sin City style TMNT. The general public that is familiar with the TMNT only know the family friendly versions from the toons and movies, and major movie studios want the general public to see their movies, they don't want to waste tons of dough on a small group of fans.

But the truth is, NO currently active fandom of the TMNT -- any universe of it -- is enough to fill seats and make any movie of TMNT a success.

A new TMNT movie is going to have to fill seats all by itself and its own laurels, largely. So I say let it be the first movie that's true to the TMNT's roots... but I'm not oblivious to the fact that the odds are stacked against this happening. Again.

You are mixing the term fan with them being actual hardcore fans. Do you think the average person who saw the Transformers film was a guy who posts on forums or still buys the action figures? No it was casual fans who may have seen one of the incarnations of the show for a little bit as a kid and saw the movie because they remember they liked it but are not actual fans. Counting the OT aired for around 10 years and the 2k3 for 7 there are a ton of generations of kids who grew up with the turtles who would fill the sits of a TMNT movie.
