I'm curious to what the all around tone of this show is going to be. Part of me is hoping for something as ridiculous as the classic cartoon, but also something with more seriousness like the 2k3 series. I do like how the turtles look so far because the new design sort of looks like one of their early renditions.

They've already debunked your bit about KFP so I'll let that rest, but I have heard of a great deal more than storyboards; including concept art and some other characters modeled in 3-D. There is plenty that they can show.

Well; of course I'll watch it for a while. It is TMNT after all. That being said, being TMNT doesn't guarantee it to be good. I tried watching The Next Mutation for a while and started going insane. Not that I expect this show to be bad, though. Hearing about the people working on it doesn't really promise anything but good work. I just wish I could know more about it; that's all.

Meh; not really. The series kept relatively similar designs throughout; they just changed animation studios a lot between seasons--sometimes with a change in quality as a result.

I didn't like the simplified, angular redesigns of the 2003 turtles when I first saw them in Fast Forward, and I still didn't like them when they stayed that course in Back to the Sewers. I don't just see them as redesigns, I see them as dumbed-down redesigns to keep the animators from having to do so much work. That sort of thing isn't unique to TMNT; it happened to Batman, too. When that cartoon first debuted, it had great animation and character design. Then it got popular, and maybe artists thought they could start skimping on animation and still be popular, because the character designs started to get less complex--most notoriously, the Joker's mouth started to look normal.

In other words, I wonder if this show is going to be too immature, and their showing it in the same clip as Dora the Explorer doesn't help matters.

You're mistaking. Avatar has a MUCH bigger fanbase than TMNT. It sounds weird, I know, especially since TMNT has been around way longer, but it's true.

Yes really, the first season clearly has a different look to the Turtles than the following seasons, as do the Red Sky episodes. If you don't see that you really are not very observant or haven't watched enough of the episodes from those different seasons to see it. The first season turtles have noticeably larger noses, with a line done the middle, making them look more like pointy beaks than the soft rounded noses of season 2+. And the Red Sky episodes the Turtles have slanted more pointy eyes (like the toys) and sharper more angled jaw lines/cheeks. If you put all 3 designs next to each other you would see some pretty noticeable differences. If you feel they look the same, then good for you, but you're wrong.

I'm the first to point out that 2k3 is mostly unknown but come on, no show goes that many episodes for no reason, obviously the turtles had popularity, not worldwide phenomenon but the kids knew who they were at the time. Now again KFP is the thing being marketed right now and not TMNT so of course right now the average kid knows more about KFP than TMNT but this will not be the case when TMNT airs, Nick will market the hell out of it. TMNT is a bigger franchise, that doesn't mean current incarnations have to be the most popular in order for that to be true and that is the point I'm trying to make. Even if KFP was bigger when the new TMNT came out it still wouldn't be a bigger franchise. It'd take many years before TMNT could be called a "dead" franchise that was once big.

Because those models exist of other characters than just the turtles. If they aren't animated, though, I think what you said about concept art might apply. Speaking strictly as an adult who can go online and see official websites, I'd love to see it, but it's true I don't know how they could broadcast still art on TV in a way that felt watchable for kids. Still, I'd argue that if they aren't targeting nostalgic adults somewhat, they're shooting themselves in the foot.

Sorry; no. As a massive former Nintendo fan, I get annoyed hearing the Wii praised to high heaven. I have nothing against making money, but I do have something against the way Nintendo has started doing it. They attracted third party support because they lowered the bar in terms of game quality, and they wouldn't have needed to attract that support back had they not alienated it during their whiny puritanical streak on earlier consoles. I've said my fill on it now, but I couldn't resist that one dig at it.

I've often wondered if I would like that series. However, I'm a big W.I.T.C.H. fan and from a lot of what I hear, Winx Club is a plagiarized version rushed out the door in order to upstage the W.I.T.C.H. cartoon and eventually cause its cancellation--that, and it's a much more stereotypically femmy answer to a show that featured well-written female characters for one of the first times in Disney history. Wow. That Mikey clip looked awesome. This is the first time since the shows announcement that I have felt like they are gonna pull off smooth animation with some bad ass action. I have had a lot of doubts.

BTW we did get that first clip of Leo with the guys at last year's KCA so I have hope for a small new clip. But they will likely show this promo we just saw.

The show is making progress and that is all I care about. Kung-Fu Panda is pretty good, I love the theme song, sing it to my daughter anytime it's on (then I find myself singing it throughout the day as well). Not a big fan of the Winx Club stuff but it doesn't seem horrible. What is horrible is the avy from the TMNT p*rn Konchadunga is using... And if a mod would do a quick translation from spanish to english of the word "pinga" you would see that the signature is not any better. Sorry for calling you out but TMNT p*rn is just sick.

I think you're overreacting. It's not like my icon has any sexual imagery in it, and the sig is just the silly theme song. To tell the truth, I haven't actually seen the movie, but the Cinema Snob's review was very amusing to me.
