Maybe. We got a Transformers movie from Bay's stable where the humans got more focus than the Transformers... and those humans weren't even pre-existing characters.

No matter what happens, though, I'm sure the Turtles will still have been normal turtles from Earth who get mutated humanoid. Whether that happens on an alien planet or via their ooze or some kind of intentional experiment or project, who knows.

Something like that might actually work for a movie about Ninjas, though. Spending a lot of the movie going unseen or barely seen in a Dreamwave kind of way would really be awesome if done right. In the case of Transformers, you had these huge battles between giant robots going on and a lot of what we get are shots of them fighting in the background while the main human characters dodge debris or something. With the Turtles it could at least make a little more sense to play it up like the earlier parts of Ninja Assassin while not giving them a full reveal until much later.

I'd prefer the Turtles getting center stage, but I could see the humans getting center stage if done right.

I dig that example.

Congratulations Goonga. Not only did you make a wonderful explanation of how to fix the Turtles as background characters in their own movie by using "ninjitsu" as the logical reason, but you created common ground between Andrew and me.

I don't know, there is no mutant in the title or radioactive waste. We could very well get alien turtles.

Quite possibly. I could definitely see the new movie being more from April’s perspective. She’ll be playing the role of the audience, so to speak. Sort of like Sam in the Transformers films.

I wouldn't mind if Krang is in this movie if he's like IDW's Krang.

Remember Krang more or less is the cause of the Turtles mutation just like the Utroms.

Because it was bound to be asked sooner or later, any idea when details of said previz sequence will become available ?

Like many have said, the "alien planet" idea can go both ways, but it is nice to see that the project is moving forward in some capacity. Michael Bay is known to extensively previz a lot of his movies ahead of time.

It can go a lot of ways, which is what is scary. The last time we had aliens in a TMNT movie though it was TMNT. While not a horrible horrible movie it didn't even bother to use things that were established.

Those were monsters from another world, not aliens.

I really don't like that idea. It may have worked for the Transformers. But that is because there were tons of different transformers out there. There are only 4 turtles.

Wouldn't anything, monster or not, from another world be an alien on this one? Just saying.

I'm hoping that we're going to see Utroms-that'd be cool to me. Shoot, have the turtles face Shredder and Baxter in 1, with it ending with a shot of a TCRI worker exposing his true alien self and 2 can kick off with the Transmat adventure and Fugitoid!

The Turtles themselves better not be aliens. I mean who would believe a planet full of talking Turtles? (And yes, I am aware of the original cartoons 2 alien Turtle planets)

I think one was an alternate dimension, technically despite the episode being called Planet of the Turtles.

They won't do that. But if they do, I hope we can all collectively agree to throw our arms up in dismissal.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Teenage Alien Ninja Turtles would be boycotted by me.

I'm certainly in that camp. I don't expect it to be the case, but I'm prepared to not want to see this movie if they mess up the origin so badly that they're alien turtles.

As long as the humor in the film is actually funny unlike all the Transformer movies I am interested in seeing them try pretty much anything. (Though I don't think they would make the Turtles from another planet.... that seems too far off for the origin story, but I could very easily see the reason for their mutation being from another place.)

Now I really want to know what they are going to do. Man I hate waiting
