We were talking about IDW Ninja Turtles' comic book changing the origin compared to this movie (possibly) changing the origin, so it was implied.

This alien business is getting so much hype...two friends that are total "casuals" both texted me in outrage.

Would you stop with the casuals bullsh*t. Being elitist about NINJA TURTLES is about the saddest thing I have ever heard.

Who said anything about elitism? Are you saying there's no difference between someone who watched the show as a kidand might see the movie and someone who currently follows everything closely?

I have a problem with using the term "casuals" as a derogatory term. That's all. It's fine to acknowledge that some people aren't as obsessed with something as you are but most of time it's "DAMN DIRTY CASUALS." "THEY DON'T KNOW AS MUCH AS ME. GRR."

I wasn't reading it with so much of that tone, I guess. There's nothing wrong with being a casual.

A third thread is fine. I prefer it over having to sift through page after page one one thread to find one thing being discussed.

Simply put, if Michael Bay wants fans to chill out, he need only come out and say "they are not aliens." He did not say that. So **** him, and **** his movie.

PS. I'll voice Leonardo.

That idea is the most awesomist idea i've ever heard. We should put bebop and rocksteady and krang in the movie!

*Trying really hard not to make a Julie Strain joke.*

As for the "producers don't do anything" argument that's been floating around, I finally remembered Kevin Smith's anecdote about his time writing the Superman script in '98. He had a great one about Jon Peters, who, I think was second-in-command about the project. And he wanted Superman to fight a giant spider (long story, but he got the idea from his son's grade school play or something like that), and kept insisting about it. So, the project falls apart, and the next thing Peters does is "Wild Wild West," and what is in it? That's right -- a giant spider. Granted, it was an awesome mechanical spider, but it likely wouldn't have been in there without Peters.

The point being that producers do have quite the influence, but some are more flexible than others, as Andrew alluded in a later post. I don't watch enough of Bay's work to know how "hands-on" he is, but it's obviously something to be mindful of as the project moves forward.

Anyway, Peters is no longer in the film business, so there is that to look forward to, eventually, if you don't like a certain producer. Not that I feel that way to Bay. Besides, after the Transformers and the current outrage with the Turtles, eh. I'm all female dogged out, myself, and I'd rather save my energy to yell at Tim Burton for the Dark Shadows remake, as an example. (Not that I'm a major fan, but the trailer looks really awful.)

No, a casual fan should not a derogatory term. Speaking as a former hardcore comic book fanboy, even I had my fill and, y'know, go with the MST3K Mantra:

"It's only alien Turtles, so I should really just relax." Heh.

On the other hand, if we all worked about this, this early, then the 2013 Turtle movie better be the greatest Turtle movie, evah.

I can't believe people are criticizing Robbie for being a passionate fan. I don't see at all how this is "unprofessional." The man had an opinion. He said it. Just like any number of people (and sorry, that includes actors.) He's not acting like any kind of man child, he's acting like one of the many people who are upset by this, and having been a part of it at one point, it may be a bit closer to him than most.

Only he didn't use the rape or sodomy references among other word choice issues, but it's too late to take it back. His passion is understandable, and he is not wrong to express it, either. You voice Mike for three mainstream movies (plus being in the Casey Jones fan film), therefore you may not be all that crazy about the new changes. Again, the only issue for me is word choice, so, otherwise, good for him.

And, no, all this isn't "raping my childhood." Tell that to the internet with all the Turtle/April porn out there -- that's far more disturbing. But this may be the first time the phrase was said to a major producer, or said in recent memory. Maybe we should thank Rist, as we've entered a whole new level of lulz. Because you don't get better than TMZ lulz.

Wasn't the laughing ray a weapon in the OT? Bring it back for the movie, regardless if it was used or not.
