They took it down? Thank god now that the "word has been spread" they'll probably trash EVERYTHING in the script because it gives away everything thta happened in the movie.

We might have very well just had a victory here.

I agree with Stryker. 2014 is still a long way away. We have no idea of the things to come in the long term.

My god I guess this proves it's real, at least some people have a copy of it and can spread it around.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it has nothing to do with victory. The studio just wants an early screenplay for one of their films in development taken down. Studios issue Cease and Desist orders all the time. It’s no different here. I wouldn't read anything into it. Paramount just wants it taken down, nothing more, nothing less. Of course, its 100% confirmation that it’s the real deal. It’s also near confirmation that this is the screenplay they’re going to use (albeit, probably a later version, God willing).

The backlash has been terrible though. If most fans hate the script and what they did to the characters, why would any casual movie go-ers see it?

Based on that story I'd say this movie will get poor reviews on rottentomatoes. Someone at Viacom better slap the movie scriptwriters to knock some sense in them.

Even people who work on the Nick cartoon laughed at the idea of the turtles being aliens.

I'm sorry, but you're really not looking at this the proper way. You are only looking at it through the eyes of a fan. That's not going to work, and its certainly not going to give you any indicator whatsoever of how the film is going to be received. The world doesn’t work like that. Particularly the world of big-budget movie making. I think its fair to say that the vast majority of fans don't seem to like the script in its current form, but in all honesty, Paramount couldn't give two s##ts. Just like they couldn't give two s##ts when the script for the first Transformers film leaked and a lot (although not as much in this instance) of fans didn’t like it. These films, complete with their huge budgets, and despite what people like Kevin Eastman and Michael Bay say, are not made with the fans in mind. It’s the truth, I’m afraid. The studio only cares about the Average Joe, because there is more money to be made from the Average Joe, mainly because there's more of them than there are fans. Do you know what? As much as you may not like to hear it, the script reads like your typical junk-food-filled summer blockbuster. In short: it reads like something that has the potential to be a big hit. Fans only think it will flop because they don’t like the liberties it takes, but the bigger picture is being missed because of those goggles I mentioned earlier that you’ve still yet to take off for just one second. The Average Joe, in all honesty, doesn't care about the liberties, as they are no way near as invested in TMNT lore. They'll just see something that they'll recognise because of brand recognition that hasn't been seen in a long time. "Cool, Ninja Turtles. I remember them". That's it.

Luckily, it does look like work is being done on the script and the best you can hope for is for the finished article to be a bit more fan-friendly. Still, the fact that Paramount asked for this to get taken down means that it’s at least the story they’re working from.

I’m a TMNT fan, but sometimes you have to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. Even if you may not like it.

Trying to talk sense into CyberCubed is time wasted He's got his little theories that he'll go with, and when they don't fit reality he'll write thousands of angry posts about it.

You can either sit back and enjoy the madness, or you reject and ignore him. The first one is way more fun. He's kinda like one of those movies that are so bad, that they just become entertaining and enjoyable.

Like studios give a sh*t about Rotten Tomatoes ratings. A studio's main concern is profitability. If they cared about Rotten Tomatoes scores, there would've only been one Transformers movie. If they cared about reviews, Platinum Dunes wouldn't be here to make this movie.

If a movie's good, hey, there's a little bonus, but that's not what matters to most of them.

Although I think the script is an abomination of the TMNT franchise, I would be slightly assuaged if the whole "Shrader" thing was worked out. Just make him The Shredder, and make him face the Turtles.

just don't bother with the new post-changes stuff, then. be content with the existing good material, that stuff will never change.

Black slaves once posted on forums you know and they weren't going on about how they got a 'victory' over something that had nothing to do with them.

Opinions but that's not acceptable to me. Yes the good will always be there but that hardly excuses the bad. "If you don't like it ignore it." is good in theory but why should I be denied new good TMNT content? As a life long fan I'd like to enjoy what's being made now as well. As great as the old stuff is eventually you've read/watched it so many times it loses it's punch. Am I to just accept I will never be wowed again or is it really too much to ask that they should put forth effort to please new and old fans alike?

He's just going for shock value, I'm sure, all just to say that making a big deal about a movie that has not only been put on hold, but hasn't even been cast yet is a bit pointless.

Studios do want profits, but they also want people to like their movies. Opening weekend is a major thing, but they want people to keep coming back to see it. And, it should be noted that it wasn't just TMNT fans making a massive deal about the "alien" thing, it was "average joes" too. At the very least, they will take the negative attention that got- and yes, it went beyond just fan sites and forums- into consideration, whether or not they it is kept in the film, which it probably will. Nobody wants to make a bad film (except Uwe Boll, and probably Troma). But, no, fans aren't usually the first people they have in mind for these things. They want it to have broad appeal, which doesn't have much to do with the liberties taken to the source material, but just making a larger than life action film that most people will want to see.

I was actually giving him a stab about something he said previously but yeah you're spot on.

The movie is two years away. Two years is a long time. Especially for projects like this that always change direction about a zillion times.

when i heard it was taken down, i freaked!!!!! Why? Well, the shredder name change and such and such. I didn't even get to read the whole script!

But it is always calm after the storm.....

I have 2 theories,

1. it's legit.

2.it's a hoax inside a hoax

Let me explain.

  • There is no official proof from paramount.
  • He "says" that's what they sent him. but he could have easily typed it up. And worded it to look all official like.
  • He could of removed it, with out any instructions, just to create turmoil for the fans.
  • And three, he says peter laird sent him a letter........
no seriously, that's what he said, here, look what "peter" had to say! http://tmntnottant.blogspot.com/2012...aked-tant.html

do you seriously think peter would say that, he's trying to stay away from tmnt for one thing, and secondly

"It reminds me of one of the reasons I am glad to not own the property anymore... because I don't have to tear what little hair I have left out while trying to fix junk like this."

i don't think he would been that out going on the alein subject. remember what he said about it when it first came up? He tryed not to get the fans mad, and tried not to sound interested. And now he openly speaks about it like that! here, read it and refresh your memory! http://peterlairdstmntblog.blogspot....as-aliens.html

Also, you'd thik you would see it on his blog or something, but no.

So there is no "real" proof that it is legit........ but who knows, it could be.

I'm going to try not to focus much on this for a while, and enjoy the comic we have from IDW, and the new show coming soon. Instead as pondering on the alien subject. at least for a while.

I'd appreciate a copy of the script by PM if possible.

It sounds like an ... interesting read.
