yeah... the 2K3 TMNT were basically unnoticed. Many people I know didn't even know there was a new show at the time... and when the 2007 movie appeared noone knew who the hell Karai was despite her being a major character in the 03 toon by then.

Nowadays it seems everyone I know (even the non-cartoon watching people) know about this new show. Maybe not watch it, but at least heard of it being new and airing on Nick.

I also wanna say, I love how fatherly Splinter is with the turtles in this version. It's very clear to see a father and son bond, without the Turtles having to call him father every 5 minutes...

When "someone of importance" says he's going to leave the forum, and some of you guys kiss butt as if he's the greatest thing to ever walk this Earth. i find it hilarious.
But seriously Ciro? Leaving the forum over opinions? Thats what forums are for, get used to it or get out. Plain and simple.

I'm sorry but no one forced him to read this forum. People shouldn't have to be worried about making negative about a show, in the off chance one of the creators of the show happens to be looking at these forums at the moment.

Once again the whole thing just flies over the heads of the Drome masses and they overreact to the wrong thing.

He's not saying you can't criticize the show. He was pretty much responding to Cybercubed's whole '2k3 creative process was better' bullcrap.

It translates into: "Stop living in the past and don't take things so seriously all the time"

I don't see what's so shocking about comparing this to an older version of the franchise. That's kind of expected.

It's Accepted.

But it's wasn't really comparing that Cubed was doing. It was 'These guys are hacks that have no standards. I want Laird and the 2K3 crew back because they know how to make a good show.'

Anybody with any sort of pride would be alittle irked by that.

Sure Ciro might not post here anymore and that's a shame but I'd rather be able to comment that an episode is mediocre than having tons of "Another great episode!" sucking up even if said episode was average.
dudes, average, good or bad all depends on the point of view of the viewer...what you find bad I may actually like..so regarding what was the critique on the first episodes here I wouldn't say that ANYONE did 'sucking up'...or did you spot that anywhere?
and I think you mean that people's statements on fan forums can be deleated or banned but not for being critisizing but for being offendive, or did I get this wrong?

@fearless leader:I think ciros point was that one should not always measure the current version of a franchise with another iteration of it.that doesn't contradict that you may like both versions for their own reasons and/or dislike some things about each at the same time

I think Ciro was upset that Cubed posted that if Laird saw this script, he would reject and find Baxter Stockman stupid. I disagree because Stockman isn't stupid by any means. He has a real motivation for getting revenge as I said before. And since Laird sold the property to Nickelodeon in the first place because he was burned out on TMNT, there's really nothing he can do about it. Sure, he can dislike it all he wants, but this is the way things are now.

And I agree about living in the past. Ciro made a good point there. I liked the 2K3 show as well, but I've accepted that that particular incarnation has come and gone. Now we have a new incarnation, and I couldn't be happier with it. It's a different take on the Turtles, and I love it. People who don't get that or who don't want to accept that are narrow-minded. You can find nitpicks about the show all you want, but people like Cubed who act like 2K3 is better than anything else really need to grow up. No incarnation is "better" than the other. They all compliment each other in their own way.

Amongst other people including long time fans.

I was really happy with this episode, and like this Richard Pryor looking Baxter lol
The only thing I could even possibly gripe about was the beehive and how it was used but I'm willing to look past it because of how fun it was and how fantastic the characters all looked including Baxter.
The Mouser looking touches to Baxter's outfits I found to be some of the most creative redesigns in this show thus far.
I'm glad we're getting a toy of the second form as I feel that is the best design.
I hope we get more nods to things even if some people may not like them.
Really looking forward to more Baxter and is it known for a fact that the Kraang work for/at T.C.R.I.? Because if not the Utroms could be around as well.

I'm very much surprised at Ciro's response to the criticism on this thread. I absolutely love the new series and while I like some episodes better than others, I think they've all been fantastic. I couldn't have asked for a better revamp. I don't remember ever laughing so hard at TMNT and the action sequences are nothing short of amazing. Pure fun! And when I identify simple plot progressions like the explanation for Stockman's motives, it doesn't bother me because at the end of the day this show is targeted at KIDS. Something, IMO, that was sometimes forgotten in the 2K3 series. That isn't to say adults can't enjoy this either, but that's not who the writers are trying to connect with. Now assuming we get a "Transformerish" PG-13 style TMNT movie in 2014, I will go into that with different expectations regarding plot progression because the Target audience will be wider than the Nick series.

That being said, speculation comments such as "Laird probability wouldn't approve of an episode like this. " or "Episode script would have been rejected if it were a 4kids ep." are in fact most likely true. But just because Laird or 4Kids wouldn't have wanted it for their series doesn't make this take any less enjoyable or wrong. We already saw that interpretation of the characters/story and now a different team is giving theirs. And I as of this point, I happen to love both. Much in how I enjoy the Mirage, Archie, Image, and IDW style on TMNT comics. Each has their own different flavor. I recently saw the new Footloose movie and was bored to tears. It was basically a complete rehash of the 80's classic. Left me wondering, why did they bother?! The production staff for that movie had no originality.

Going back to Ciro's response, I question if that user is in fact Ciro Nieli. I don't know the Drome's verification process for TMNT staff, but the response seemed like a PR nightmare by targeting and attacking a segment of its market base (even if not its target). If that comment was left on Twitter and not buried in a forum like this, it would probably get a lot of attention like the Jason Biggs fiasco. I just question its validity.

I doubt a non-celebrity saying something vaguely negative about a really small portion of the fanbase would get attention from TMZ or whatever. It doesn't really matter at all.

Normally I would agree with you, but the comment was allegedly from the executive producer of the series which carries weight. I too don't think such a scenario would ever make TMZ headlines like a Chuck Lorre comment would, but I could see articles written from online media outlets like IGN under the title, "Executive Producer for New TMNT Series Thinks Long Time Fans are Depressing."

Agreed. You'd think the staff would be glad that we were comparing this show to previous incarnations which were well received.

When the 4kids series came out in 2003 people constantly compared it to the original toon, so logically when the Nick show came out people were going to compare it to the 4kids series...and to the old cartoon.

By that logic why is it everytime there's a new incarnation of Batman or Spiderman do people keep bringing up past versions? That's what fandom does, we always compare new iterations to older ones and see what's better or worse.

Yeah, from now on everybody Is going to suck-up to Ciro saying the nick Turtles is the best show on earth. 2k3 TMNT? did such a show existed?

But seriously Its hard to swallow that now it turns out that many people didn’t notice the videogames, the action figures and other merchandise based on the 2k3, just because you don’t want to make Ciro cry.

Let’s have a little dignity people, besides nobody really said something to offend the guy it was just a stupid comparison, it’s been done with star wars, transformers, etc.

I can't bealive there is even people blaming CyberCubed, I personaly don't agree with the guy most of the time but its not he's fault Ciro can't handle a little criticism, what kind of producer is he?
