I don't know I can see the argument for the Nick series but if you mean OT? Than LOL that show is like the silver age of TMNT, it's mean't to be silly and sometimes nonsensical. Other than the Europe episodes I didn't mind the sillyness of the OT but to see that twice was a no go Next Mutation is proof of that.

I didn't mind the sillyness either, I'm just saying people on this site seem to take the OT way too seriously. They question Bebop and Rocksteady being inconic characters because they're not a "threat". Of course they're not a threat! Shredder and Krang aren't either in most of the OT episodes! Hell, none of the villains are, for that matter.

But, this is my opinion after all, I'll post some links if you want me to.

Okay, I get what you're saying, and I hear ya.

It's a problem for me, too. While there are perfectly valid things to critique the OT for, it's still unfair for it to be put down simply *because* it's goofy.

Or indeed, to discuss the OT and spring to the defense of its characters for really being as heroic or as villainous as we thought they were as children, or to keep moving the goalposts and declare that *this* was the season Shredder and the Turtles started to get silly.

I figured those asking about Bebop and Rocksteady are ones who didn't grow up on the OT and therefore dont understand why they are important to a lot of us.

Nah not necessary, I watch the OT if I want a good laugh, or Scifi story. I see your point in how some people are too uptight about the show sometimes. The only thing I hate about OT TMNT is the fans of the show, for the Bias hate they have of any media outside of Fred Wolf. I got my account on DeviantArt suspended all because I asked where 2K3 Don was on a old & New comparison picture between OT & 2K12.

To be fair, it seems like a lot of the people who grew up on the OT want a darker Krang, a threatening Technodrome, etc...so it's not surprising anyone would ask if they want Bebop and Rocksteady back just in looks, or to keep their original silliness.

Archie at least has an even darker Krang. But the Technodrome was written out of Archie early, in a silly way (Skullbuzzer)...

You also have to remember, most of us first knew the TMNT through the OT and never heard of the comics.. and STILL never heard of the comics. So it's fair to be confused as to why we have new shows with more bad ass and serious Turtles and Shredder... without also a more bad-ass and serious Bebop and Rocksteady.

Honestly it should work both ways. The Mirage Turtles were toned down and tame to be in the 80's show. Likewise the 80's Bebop and Rocksteady should be wild and untamed in the 2012 show.

Yeah, some people grew up with the 2003 show and are pretty used to the whole "dark and serious" thing, and don't see how important Rocksteady and Bebop can really be.

Pointless thread is pointless

Controversial, where, his thread? Where the op just seems to be whining about a nonsensical topic.

It's controversial that this topic believes itself to be controversial

That's kind of funny coming from one who has over 11,000 posts himself. But in all fairness, some of the other sites I'm member on my post-count is pretty high, too.

I sort of agree that some posters here DO tend to get a little huffy when others disagree or call them out for taking the TMNT too seriously. I'm a big fan myself, but I don't get offended if someone else doesn't share my opinions about a certain version.
