I kind of wish the Frogs were bigger and bulkier. I'll wait to see them in action first.

So...in other words you don't think they'll actually learn and do better? Or actually start to use Raphael's character in a better way/fashion?
You didn't really disagree with anything that I said, or with any of my points. And if I did give up on the show, you're telling me you or someone else wouldn't go "well, if you don't watch, then you'll never know if they do use him to better effect in the future"? So tell me, where you going with that? I should be happy with seeing how piss poor they are treating my favorite character? Or that I shouldn't want them to 'handle/use him more effectively' in the future? Or I shouldn't think that it's stupid that a character like Leo who should be in a coma is now already prepared to stand up, fight, and battle, while another character (like Raph, who barely had any action/fights in the finale) is going to become a 'damsel in distress' that needs saving...and people are okay with that? To each their own. Last edited by Ramboraph4life aka Matt; 09-25-2014 at 08:43 PM. |

Yep to each their own. You wanna stop watching the show? Have at it! Go watch one of the multitude of movies that focus on Raphael while Donnie gets the back burner. Raph has not been treated poorly. We've seen his brutality and ability. any fight he's in he takes down atleast a dozen bots. When they send someone in first to take something out, it's always raph. You don't even know how Raphael got captured? So yeah I'm going to tell you to sit there and wait Til you see it. Who knows, raph could burst in and save Leo because Leo's too weak to fight. God everyone's so nitpicky and complainy. They sit there and judge the entirety of a show because one part of it doesn't suit their tastes. I have complaints too: still not happy with donnies whole nerdy persona instead of the more educated quiet one. But I look past that and enjoy other things in the show, not go on rants consistently about how this show is ruining him. So you tell me, where exactly were you going with this??

That Raph is being treated like crap on the show. Figure I made that perfectly clear.
And I'm sorry, but if you don't think Raph has been treated poorly in this show then there's not much I can say to convince you otherwise. We wholeheartedly disagree with each other on that front. We have not seen his brutality at all, and we have Barely seen any of his ability except a handful of stuff (like in the Slash and Destroy episode). "When they send someone in first to take something out, it's always raph." No, it's not. Not sure where you got that from. And in case you didn't read carefully, I said 'IF I did give up on the show'. "You don't even know how Raphael got captured" Does it matter? He's supposed to be one of the better fighters (or so I thought), and yet he gets captured while a Leo that got brutally attacked and beaten has to go save him. That's pretty sad and pathetic, no matter how you stretch it. And if you think that complaining that your favorite character is being treated poorly (which obviously you disagree with) is in the realm of being 'nitpicky', then I'm sorry but you don't know what that word even means. |

Donnie is getting crazy spotlight so is Leo. and it isn't fair for Raph. The writers shouldn't be putting so much focus on just 2 turtles they should spread out the love.

Typed a long response, but it got deleted before I posted, so all Im saying is raph has been shown to be the fighter. He's shown his brutality when he almost killed Casey, and skill taking out 8 drones in seconds in the first invasion. These are only a couple examples. Far as captured, 100% matters how it happens. Raph isn't indestructable. He could be sleeping, injured or helping Casey which gets him caught, while Leo could be unconscious in a hidden place. It's not you, I apologize if it seems blatantly directed to you. There are just a lot of people here who find one thing they don't care for them simply just rant and criticize the entire show for it when there's more to it. Quote:

putting more spotlight on one turtle each incarnation isn't really the best solution. just give them equal time (or as close as you can get) and everyone will be happy.

What two turtles was the 2003 series focused on
I know the Leo x Raph rivalry was major part in the series but. Didn't we Leo fans have the same fate in the 80s series though? Maybe I'll have to go re watch. I figure they are making it up to us, now if only they'd do some thing about those filmsXD I'm excited for Leo's arc in season three. |

Just like you can complain about other incarnations, Raph & Mikey fans can complain about this one. And just because it's been done like that before, doesn't mean it has to continue like that. And if you think about it, Don had big treatment in the 80's cartoon too. His gadgets, his creations, and lots more. Plus I know that there were a Tremendous Amount of episodes where it was 'The Turtles are saved because Donnie did this, thought of that, or his gadget/inventions saved the day'. Raph just once in a while did a wisecrack/look at the camera, had Mona Lisa for one episode, switched bodies in one, and was in a volcano in another. That's it. Even in the 2003 show, Donnie got the best solo episode (Same as it Never Was) while Raph's solo episodes were very lacking. And I never said Donnie shouldn't get any. I'm just saying Raph is extremely underused in this show. Again if people disagree, then that's fine. We just won't be seeing eye to eye in that matter. Napoleon Bonafrog has a serious case of Mondo Gecko bucked teeth. In fact before I read that was Napoleon I thought it was Mondo Gecko, oh well.

It still boggles my mind that people get so whiny on the treatment of a fictional character. Even worse is when that treatment is mostly in their head. Yes, there are turtles who are getting more focus. But they're not making any of the others look WORSE, even in comparison. Even if you argued that Mike got that treatment in the beginning, they're doing better with him now.
And this is coming from someone who saw the Turtles and Splinter as an extension of his own family, growing up. Such vitriol over your perception of a character's treatment in a cartoon is not beneficial to anyone.

In my opinion (which obviously you care to see as being whiny, to each their own) yes, they are making Raphael look worse. He's not essential to the plots and doesn't even feel that essential at all to the family at this point. It's almost like he is there because he simply has to be. In fact, for the most part you could take him out and it'd pretty much be the same. The only positive Raph has gotten is that once in a while he shows his soft side to the others. Otherwise it's like I said. He's either portrayed as a bully, a wimp, or a complete screw-up. Even his best moment (in Slash & Destroy) is tarnished because it all happened due to his own screw-up (turning Spike into Slash, and he put all that stuff into Slash's head throughout the years about his brothers). Or by hurting/breaking Leo's arm. Or by almost getting Mikey killed when he was 'the leader' (I forget the name of the episode). Or by running away like a scared kitten from a big bug, abandoning his brothers because of it. And without strong arcs/stories/other stuff for Raph to do, then yes it is at least a little bit disheartening for me to see. And yes, I do find it strange that complaining how a personal favorite character is treated is now just either being nitpicky, or whiny, or whatever other phrases all of you folks will be throwing my way...even when I didn't throw any your way. |

I don't mind how Raph is treated in this show. Sure he's not center stage like he usually is, but come on- Donnie and Mikey have been getting boned in almost every TMNT cartoon/movie. I'm enjoying Donnie's time in the spotlight for once.
The only thing I really don't like about Raph is how abusive he could be, especially to Mikey. I love his sarcastic remarks and the occasional slap, but he's a borderline bully at times. I feel like it was toned down a bit in later episodes, thankfully. |

And to others...again, I am NOT saying he should be Center Stage. I never Said that. I just feel that he's being portrayed rather poorly which I guess I'm in the minority on...and I don't understand it. |

He does seem to have a 'butt of every joke' role that I don't think we've seen before.
