Karai's Design

I don't like it but I haven't liked most of the human designs and they've grown on me, so I'll see how it plays out.

The way she looks kinda feels like she is going to be Splinters Daughter Miwa

Oh yeah I agree, she's gotta be Miwa. Think about it: Splinter has gone on all this time thinking his daughter died in the fire. How awesome would it be to find out that his sworn enemy has been raising that daughter as his own all these years? Molding her in his image, then priming her to fight against her own biological father... I dunno, that's really f'd up. Which I think is cool.

What intrigues me is whether or not they'll imply a friendship/borderline romance situation with Leo and Karai. From this pic alone it looks like they've got a rivalry going. What I think might be funny is if they address this in a subtle way at first (like the other guys teasing Leo about it, for instance), followed by Leo finding out she's his half-sister.

Minus the piercings, I kind of like it actually.

and I love the facial espression. screams bad and snarky. I think I prefer just an all out bad Karai...

One of the things I didn't like about 2k3 Karai was because she was loyal to Shredder due to honor a that Shreder had zero honor himself, he was an absolutly terrible character that did so many terrible things.

I hope this Karai isn't like that.

But I have to just be honest, I'm tired of this "Lets make characters teenagers" thing. I tried to have an open mind about but I just can't. I hate the idea, and that really the revelation about this version of Karai that bothers me so far.

We can only hope that they've been monitoring the response to his design since the previews were shown and made some modifications. They had plenty of time to do so.

There have been a lot of things that, at first glance, I thought I'd hate forever. But in actually giving it a chance, I found that I really enjoyed it. Maybe this will happen here too. My gut reaction wasn't a good one, but I haven't hated anything this show has done yet, so I'm gonna wait and check it out, and assume Nick knows what they're doing.

I actually don't really care about this Karai one way or another. They already messed up by making her Shredder's underling. Funny that everyone after Mirage bastardized her.

I do approve of Kelly Hu voicing her though. Andrea Romano hasn't struck out once.

I'm sure she'll end up being a conflicted character once the truth about her father comes out.

This Karai still looks awful to me. I hope there's a bit of a time skip when Season 2 begins so they can redesign Karai and make her look older and more like her Mirage/4kids/IDW counterparts.

Guess I'll be the odd-man out and say I kinda dig this design for Karai. She kinda comes of a tomboy here with that hairdo, and it's something totally unexpected!

I didn't even think this was Karai when I first saw her, but rather some Neutrino scene girl. With the 50s version irelevent, that seems like the hipster rebel archetype they might use. On closer examination, I realized that the triangular shape on her head wasn't an elfin ear, but rather, part of her hair, but I stand by the scene girl thing, and that hair feature looks even stupider. I'm still not quite sure whether the yellow bit is supposed to be the front of her hair on the right or the back of her hair on the left.

On the plus side, she does look more badass than 2007 Karai, who was shrimpy and couldn't do a mean face well, but in some ways she hardly even looks female. If they're going for "Japanese gangster," the coloring kind of works, but the shapes still look dorky.

So yeah; not liking it. April has grown on me despite me thinking her face was too wide based on limited views, so maybe this won't be too bad.

Much like most everything surrounding this show, I think people are freaking out before seeing the finished product and two weeks from now everyone's going to be ranting and raving about how much they liked "New Girl In Town".

Lame title though, admittedly.

I'll even take the 4th movie Karai design over this. She may not have been a good fighter but her design was fine.
