Everyone learned that Leo liked Karai, he admitted it, but we don't know if the others realized that he still liked her (although I felt that Raph did when rescuing her). He said he was over her back in season 1, but it's obvious that he wasn't, even if she was their enemy at that point.

I'm sure Splinter's aware about the crushes, though I don't think it's as much of a crush with Leo and Karai now given that she's his sister. But he did talk to Donnie about not forcing April to like him, so he knows all about that one.

Sorry, but I'll have to politely disagree with this. Prior to the mutation, Leo definitely still seemed to have that crush on Karai.

He was blushing around her in Vengeance when they rescued her and during their sparring session, Leo was embarrassed that Mikey hit him with the water balloon, causing Karai to laugh a little. It kinda paralleled that sadorable ep back in season 1. Donnie was paired with Raph. He was about to fight normally I guess you could say, until he recalled April watching and actually did beat Raph, until he did the Donnie puppet, embarrassing him. Instead of Donnie acting aggressive and attacking like Leo did with Mikey, he tried talking.

Leo's reactions just come across as crush like to me. Who knows what the deal is now since she's been mutated.

I find it interesting how Mikey and Raph embarrassed their brothers in front of their crushes.

*nod* Poor Leo probably has no choice than to have to put that crush away, but of course...more easily said than done. Seems to still harbor some feeling, though I like that he seemed to redirect his concern for her into a mission to save her for Splinter once the truth was known. (Maybe the whole snake thing will get him over her...)

Sad though that she was technically off limits to him first for being an enemy, and even more-so now for being his adopted sister, so to speak. And while I'm sure some feel that it's fine, they aren't blood related... Under that rat skin Splinter's human, raising the Turtles like humans, and human views/customs don't usually accept adopted siblings going there... (Not to mention species and the fact that it's Splinter's DNA involved in their mutation, so.. >.<)

Him and Donnie, poor kids... And most humans - both real and fictional ones in the TMNT world - think we have problems, that would suck to feel human on the inside and exist in a body that isn't.

Splinter is Japanese and "at present, Japanese law allows for adopted siblings to marry, which has feudal-era origins." So, he might not have any problems with it.

Ah, that is very true. I'd forgotten about that, and I agree that it's going to be harder for Leo to get over that crush now that she's his sibling. I don't think Splinter would disapprove of it, but in America, even adopted siblings getting together is considered incest.

Adopted sister or step sister, either way it doesnt mean a damn thing as long as they are not related by blood. I know this for a fact because my own parents are step sister/brother and they met eachother just like leo and karai did, as teenagers. So there was no "sibling" feelings to get in the way.

Yeah. I'm sure if Leo and Karai had grown up together and raised as siblings, then it would've been awkward as I'm sure they would've viewed one another as siblings, despite not being blood relatives. Prior to the current events (Karai's mutation), I could see species playing more of an issue than the step sibling thing.
