It's really a shame that these figures aren't in stores anymore. Has anyone seen any of these still at a local Ross? I still want to get a loose/complete Shredder.

They disappeared from stores in late '11.

Unfortunately, this is the only way to get a loose/complete Shredder:

Seemed like the 25th Ann figures were in and out of stores crazy fast. Stores like Target only really ever had the turtles and Rocksteady and Bebop while TRU seemed to get the rest that were released.

Funny how they've skyrocketted in price to almost vintage TMNT figure level.

Are these exact remakes of the originals? Or are there any subtle differences? Also, I am sorry but I am NOT reading through over 50 pages to get an answer.

The 25th Anniversary figures are re-issues with different paint jobs.

For example, the '09 Shredder re-issue has a different skin tone from the '88 version. The '09 Turtles have brighter colored bandanas. A re-issue of the '94/'95 Krang is used as an accessory to the '09 Shredder re-issue.

I could swear I recall seeing a bit of mold degradation on a few of the figures, much like how a lot of other toylines they re-release like Transformers or G.I.Joe had issues with.

One part in particular I recall was something being off about Donatello's left hand between his fingers compared to the vintage one, like there was a bunch of excess plastic.

A Michelangelo variant was shipped with wave 2 in the fall of '09. The hand of the second Michelangelo could hold the nanchuku better than the wave 1 re-issue.

Shredder has a different leg than his original (well, mine does!), as in not the same leg, and he comes with the little Krang from the 94 Android Body fig.

I only bought Raph (Target,Australia) and Shredder (via ebay) though.

If I remember correctly the 25th Foot Soldier is bigger then the original release cause they had to make new molds for the toy.

it's a real shame that Playmates didn't expand the 25th Anniversary toyline. I really wanted that 25th Anniv Casey. I remember someone here mentioning it would've been awesome to see the Technodrome on toy shelves again. Then again, it was being geared towards a narrow market, mostly us collectors.

When an art director or executive type in a suit tells an art department employee that based on the production numbers and given a specific budget they're required to produce a single cardback using the old card art its not being lazy or bad at their job when they complete the task. Perhaps they all want to do more and can't because of time or budget issues. Its time for you to learn how the BUSINESS of graphic design or other production works and stop talking about how you bust your butt looking for work and actually begin outputting work rather than posting here hundreds of times a day about how you could do it all better and acting as though you're some kind of authority on something you have nothing to do with. You're not aware of how many man hours can paid out for design costs on a project. At a certain point, from a business perspective, the more labor based art efforts result in only marginally better sales, yet increase costs in major ways. How many people that WERE going to buy the figures now WON'T because the card is generic with 'poorly designed art'? Weigh that against the cost of printing up individual cards or, as you suggested one good and one evil. In the end, the actions you suggest lead to more cost, but not to more sales. Its just nitpicking from a fanboy you can't please. A couch quarterback, a backseat driver, a takeout chef. You'll always think you know more and assert your opinion online as though others care what YOU think.

Ok, you don't like something, constructive criticism is fine. Everyone has an opinion. Just don't bitch and moan about how you can do it all better because you're jealous of those people in those jobs. Don't try to convince fans you know how the business works. You aren't a professional graphic designer. Perhaps you dabble in freelance once in a while, but you have said time and again, you stock shelves at WALMART. If I am wrong, link me to your online portfolio and I will eat my words. Oh, hahahaha, before I go any, further slapping sculpy on an "entrigan the demon" figure's head and repainting him doesn't count. I want to see where the work is that you got paid to produce that was released commercially.

You said the new playmates turtles were copies of the movie figures then bitched for two pages on the other thread about playmate's laziness. You have a terrible eye for detail. I can tell you, you are a joke where I work. You even use your real name as your ID while you run your mouth off about how you know it all hahahahhaha. Walmart, man, WALMART!

With your attitude put right out there on a forum like this, always knocking down anything new that's made, especially when you email your contacts, you're not in the process of getting work in that field. They know you as a big fanboy nitpicking critic. They try to be polite to you so you don't continue to drag people's names through the dirt. Everyone who is actually in the business is lazy, stupid, or some other negative quality in your eyes unless you have personal contact with them and they give you "insider" information. In which case, you feel they're victims of the same idiot run machine that is keeping good ideas out.

Dude, you work at walmart. Other guys, the ones who you think are idiots, MAKE ninja turtles cartoons, toys and comics. If you can do it better, get off your butt and do it. There is more to the BUSINESS of doing graphic design than nitpicking other people's work and having a bunch of ideas. If you can do it better, present your non-existent portfolio to playmates and try to get hired. Getting told "you don't have what it takes" a few times might open your eyes in seeing you have nothing under your belt and you're an arrogant, cocky, opinionated fanboy-one who wasted a lot of mommy and daddy's money going to college for nothing. Perhaps being rejected a few times with slap some sense into your head and you'll actually see how much work you have ahead of you if you wish to get into a professional setting.

Dude, you work at walmart. You're not a graphic designer for a living. There is a reason my name was DonsAssistant and I have been very positive on these threads. This is my last post. You sir, are a plight of epic proportions on TMNT fandom and I wish you would grow up and see 1-YOU WORK AT WALMART and 2-calling every move made by people in the business stupid or lazy isn't going to help anyone in any capacity. It doesn't make you a fan. It makes you a wannabe creative talent. If you don't think we'd like to do more but at times are shackled by time and budget restraints you're on a different world. It just points out your ignorance. This isn't the fine art 'I'll get it done when I feel like and I do it because I want to express my feelings'-make believe world. We all know who 'Vaughn Michael' is in my office and if you think this is how you get work, man you definitely have a lot to learn.
i am just now seeing this and i got to say its the largest post ive seen

I remember seeing these toys in stores with my cousin (a huge TMNT fan) and he bought up all of them. I love these toys and thought that they would be pretty cheap to collect in the box. Looking at those prices on eBay though, I'm obviously wrong.

I recently got a 25th Anniversary Raphael in a TMNT lot off ebay (stamped 2008 on back) and notice compared to my original 1988 Raph not only is the paint on the masks, arm and legbands, and wristbands brighter, but the colors on everything else are quite a bit different.
The shell is a much lighter green, and completely painted over to the point I thought it was a seperate piece from the rest of his body. His yellow-green skin is also a more muted color.

Actually summing him up in general, he's very 'muted' in color compared to the 1988 original all around.

Of course, I notice some color changes a bit even on a lot of MIB 1998 TMNT re-releases I got Saturday from the 1988 originals as well... Mainly on the fronts of their shells being a darker color.

Oh man, I wish!! It would be nice to see a larger re-release of the 1988 line with all of the popular figures back on the shelves! If they did a re-release of all the toys from 1988-1990, that would be a dream come true. Eh, wishful thinking, right?

I hope! I'd love for that to happen, but Playmates should include even more figures or at least 3 waves, consisting of 7 figures each. That'll be good for me. What do you think?

I'm thinking Playmates is done releasing the vintage TMNT figures in any form. It'd be cool to see them again, but they've released them so much between the originals and then the 25th Anniversary versions. I just don't see it happening again.

They want to concentrate pretty much on the 2012 stuff now since that is selling.

It would be funny if they re-released the harder to find vintage figures though. Hot Spot, Scratch, Shogun Shaote, Halfcourt, etc... It would make the prices on ebay drop quite a bit maybe. >_>
