Mona Lisa to appear? (sources inside)

*slams hand on table* SO!!! To get back on track here...

I saw that the "Alien Attack" book is available to order through Amazon and B&N. I work near a B&N, so I might swing by there and see if the book is available to buy. (I don't want to order it since I have a separate Amazon account for my Kindle to use as comic book money). Maybe we can get some better shots of Mona Lisa before season 4.

BTW, does anyone know how to properly edit pictures you post on threads? I keep trying, but they always come out so big.

Does this book and the others like it follow episodes from the show and put them in a easy to read format for younger kids, or are they new, separate stories? Because aside from more pictures of Mona, I'm wondering if the story itself could be somewhat spoilery.

My kid's have a couple of the books, They follow episodes in a easy to read way. We probably could get some good spoilers this way...

Welp. I went to B&N and found the book. I told the people who worked there I was getting for my "nephew", even though my boyfriend was there with me and told me not to worry so much about what people would think of a 32-year-old woman buying a book for 1st graders.

ANY-HOO!

It didn't really SPOIL anything. It has the Turtles with the Fugitoid and they're being attacked by Triceratons. They get blasted and crash on an ice covered planet. The ships is damaged and Donnie says they need metal to help repair the ship. As they're searching, Mona Lisa appears and attacks them, but then an ice dragon attacks and they end up helping each other. Probably some misunderstanding, like she thought they were Kraang experiments or something.

As if there was ever any real chance of this not happening. I gotta say, that's a really badass revamped design for Mona Lisa. Still looks funny without any hair, though... not complaining, just doesn't look a thing like the OT character.

To be fair, hardly ANY of the revamped characters look like they're original design. Even the Turtles themselves look different. Only ones who came close were Shredder and Rocksteady.

I'm actually GLAD she doesn't have hair. Unless it was like her membranes or frills that were styled like hair, it would've looked a bit too silly otherwise.

I really like how her sword and her tail work together to form a lightening attack. That's gonna be really neat to see on screen.

Question is, what is she doing on that planet? That can't be where she lives since she has a helmet for air (or whatever her people breathe). Here are my guesses:

- Her people actually live underneath the ice and it's currently the winter season on her planet and the Salamandrians are hibernating (Salamanders do that, right?). Maybe she woke up early to explore the area for any intruders.

- She crashed there herself and was trying to find the resources to fix her ship. When she helps the Turtles, they help repair her ship as well.

- Just some explorer checking out the galaxy.

Either way, from the looks of it she WILL return for more than one episode. I'm kind of hoping they go to a planet that's inhabitated by many different species of aliens so she and the Turtles can blend in.

OH! Something else I found out. I flipped to the first page and it says "Based on the teleplay "The Moons of Thalos 3" by John Shirley. Guess that's the episode's name. Anyone familiar with Shirley? Has he written anything on the show yet?

Mona looks great. I thought her skin would be blueish, but it looks grey here, unless that's just the art in the book. And I like how it's not exactly love at first sight, but the crush comes after a mutual understanding.

Also that ice dragon looks really cool.

Apparently John Shirley helped write the Invasion: Part 2 and the Manhattan Project: Part 2. I don't really know who he is, but I liked those episodes, so I'm glad to hear he'll be doing some more writing for the show.

Mona, I'm not saying Raph will be a bad boyfriend, just more that he's cynical about the whole relationship thing and wouldn't want to jinx it. I don't think he'd be mean to her or anything. And it looks like that's not going to happen, but it's cute. Awesome pics from the book, too.

Just one question about this, I know it's a bit off topic, but how does it make him a whatever if the old Mona was originally a human? Does the mutant part destroy any humanity left (so she now is completely an animal) or is she different then if she had started out as an animal and not human?

Simply because I sort of asked this question about Splinter and people gave one type of answer, and people in this thread give another. Either she's gross and it makes Jake a scaly, or she's still fundamentally a human and it really doesn't.

I find it worse when a mutated human falls for a mutated animal then if a human falls for a mutated human or a mutated animal falls for an amphibioid alien. Mikey falls for Renet, Leo fell for Karai, Donnie fell for April, but I hear little to no complaints. But if a human male falls for a mutated female human, then somehow it's worse squicky over some mutated animals falling for the humans listed. I'm not defending JakeSully (furries feel icky to me with their lecherousness) but it comes off as hypocritical and double standardish, as it's like a fat guy can fall for a thin girl (and he's 'lucky') but a thin guy can't fall for a fat girl because it's 'lowering' himself.

Anyway, I'm liking this Mona over the original, for once it's not a mutated human. It's also nice we'll have a 'new' character that also expands on the background of another (showing a female of Newt's race) and establishes that Salamadarians are an actual species.

I feel like she'll be back for a couple more episodes. Not as many or as connected to the plot like Slash or the other Mutanimals, but more than the mutant of the week characters.

What I really hope is that we get to know some more about her background and more about the Salamandarians the next time she shows up.
