I'm wondering if 'Nightmares Recycled' will ever be told.

I know we will never see it animated but why not a least see if Mirage will release a one-shot of it? At least, we would see if the episode would have any connection to the on-going story arc of the return of the original Shredder. It's a shame that 4kids had to be such dicks about it. Especially considering they are/were going to release this on DVD anyway. Oh, well. Maybe this is something we can try and convince Mirage to do.

If 4kids pulled the episode I doubt they could simply go behind their backs and complete the episode without them. But I too am wishing for the episode to somehow be released one day. The series would feel slightly incomplete without it. Well, atleast to me it would. A comic or script would be nice too though.

I agree it was finally connecting just about everything together.
And finally giving the garbage man a back story.

I'm hoping for the script to be on the DVD set. I really wanted to see storyboards combined with audio on the DVD but that's more than likely too close to actually airing it for the 4Kids execs.

I did ask Murphy if it wasn't included in special features could we see the script on the official site after the DVD release and he said it was possible. Certainly worth asking after the US DVD release.

You know, I don't see the big fuss about finishing it if it's just going to be released on DVD. If it's not going to air, what does 4kids care anyway?

the episode is finished to a point where it is watchable. There are minor animation fixes that need be done (Turtles having the wrong mask colors for example plus whatever retakes the director would have called for etc)

Also sound for the episode was never finished, so although there is dialogue for most of it stuff like punch reacts and music weren't added.

Over all watchable in its current form, but it would still mean thousands of dollars to finish and many of the people involved do not have the time in their schedules as they are going ahead with new episodes or working on other projects.

EDIT: perhaps the DVD will have this version straight up on it similar to how the unfinished material for Invader Zim is on its DVDs

Simple. Having this ep finished could potentially hurt 4Kids image by being so shockingly violent. No one is allowed to hurt 4Kids image for any reason other than 4Kids own idiotic ideas. I don't think I need to explain that one.

^^ Too good of a point.

Also, looking at things from an artist's point of view, it would be horrible. It's like having a half-painted canvus on display. You really feel dirty about it and you just want to finish it, but you can't. Hopefully they will be allowed to finish it all up and it might be a bonus episode for a DVD. If it can't get on DVD...well, they managed to show "Insane in the Membrane" over here in Australia, right? Why not "Nightmares Recycled"? Still, taking gobo's point into consideration, it's not likely that the episode will ever air. Quite a shame too...

I believe Murphy was asked something similar.

If I remember right he said that the exec change came around the time of Insane, had it come before it was produced then the episode would not have been made. He did say that the only reason it was released on DVD was because it was already complete. Nightmares hasn't been completed because these execs were already in place (they weren't for Insane) and therefore it won't be completed and won't be on DVD.

Where did you hear that tortugapower? I was thinking the best we could hope for as a special feature would be storyboard video with dialogue!

Really I don't care. It seems like people only want to know about this episode because 4kids would not let it see the light of day. I really doubt it would have been any good. The Garbadgemen episodes are worse then your average Fast Forward episode. I really had no hopes for nightmares recycled and really I'm happy it's not going to see the light of day.

I would have liked to see the Don/Raph interaction. But I could care less about Garbageman.

Honestly, I'm bugged by the fact that this means there's essentially no episode 110.

But aside from that, the concept sounds interesting and unique.
Raph, Don, Casey, and April’s evening salvage operation lands them a one-way ticket to Recycle World – the Garbageman’s deadly realm of refuse! As if fighting for their lives in a world of lethal compactors and shredders wasn’t bad enough, they’ve got to do it all with Hun – who’s not thrilled to reveal that he and Garbageman have something in common – DNA!

NOTE: This episode was never completed. The script was finished and some animation had begun when 4Kids pulled the plug because it was deemed too controversial for a children's program (apparently Hun and the Garbageman were going to be conjoined twins that were surgically separated at birth).
I don't really get why this concept is so horrid. Is the idea of separating conjoined twins that controversial? I mean, it does happen in real life. They've gotten away with worse. Just watch episodes from Season Four like "I, Monster" or even worse, "Insane in the Membrane". Heck, even go back to Season One and you've got Shredder being decapitated.

That wasn't the problem. The amount of brutality shown in the episode was too overwhelming. There is the horror story that is Garbageman's origin (carved from Hun by a back-alley surgeon who likes to experiment on infants, then discarded as 'garbage') and people being scalded by acid (I imagine that's the payback Garbageman had in mind). That was all just too much for Fox to allow. Since there was no chance of it airing, it was shelved in the early stages of production, presumably as an animatic.

Ah, I see. That's pretty hardcore for a 4Kids show. Still, I would have liked to see some kind of finished product come from it, even if it had to be tonned down. Not only for the Garbageman backstory, but for the fact that it fills in a bit more of Hun's past.

Yeah. And a concept script would be great, too!

This sounds like the best Garbageman episode yet...but I admit, I would probably be freaked out by it, let alone kids....
