Has a new dvd set been released recently?

I don't get to watch this show on the air, so I've been watching through the dvds. The last one I bought was "Meet Casey Jones"

I started to look through this section, but it was full of spoilers, so I thought I would just ask.

Good day to you all!

Showdown in Dimension X is out and completes season two (provided that you have Mutagen Mayhem).

Retreat! Comes out Tuesday.

The DVD releases for this show are very competent, and much better than the old 4kids DVDs which had out of order episodes and only 3-4 eps per disc.

I haven't bought any Nick DVDs as I'm waiting for the inevitable blu-ray sets, even though that may take awhile. I don't want to buy DVDs now just to sell them a few years from now when blu-ray's come out.

I...I just will never that logic.

Everybody here has to know that the DVD sales will ultimately decide whether we ever get the blu-ray releases, therefore the mindset of stalling and waiting for something that very well may not even happen anyway is only costing you the slim chance of it happening in the first place.

People need to realize that blu-ray is not new anymore. Blu-ray is nearly 10 years old now, any current age release that is not put on blu-ray is because A. They have no plans to do it. Or B. Will only do it if a massive, major flooding market for the DVDs is out there.

The same thing applied for the people that held on for season sets, it was the same as the volumes, so they got what they wanted, only difference is they waited a year and a half longer to get it.

Back in early 2013, I would have said blu-ray was still a chance, but that door is just about shut now.

Do I still want blu-rays for the show, absolutely! But I'm going to screw myself by doing nothing to make it happen. So I go out there and buy the best quality release of the show that's out there...and then hope.

I'll even call it right now, that the new spin-off show will be out on DVD before this show gets a blu-ray release. I admire and respect you guys that buried your heads in the sand, but that said, it's the completely opposite mindset to have had. That's literally like drilling a hole in the bottom of your boat to keep it from sinking. It basically screwed your own cause and has pretty much killed any chance of it ever happening.

Heh, I held off buying most of the individual 4Kids releases waiting for the inevitable season sets... or "half season" sets as the case tended to be. Of the titles that were released in the USA, I currently lack 7 episodes spread across three discs.

The DVD sets are aimed at kids, they're intended to be cheap so parents buy them for them. The show is only in its third season.

I imagine blu-ray sets will be announced around the time the show is wrapping up.

Well geez Cubed, that's like saying movies like Wreck-It Ralph or LEGO Movie never needed to be put on blu-ray because they were kids' movies intended to be viewed by kids. That doesn't make much sense.

Plus, the thing is that people on here complained that the volume releases were only done to make Nickelodeon money. To me, that contradicted the blu-ray release theory. Because as you've stated numerous times, you think the show will continue on for other 5-6 years, if they chose to wait, think about how much money they'll lose from putting out releases by that point, as to putting them out now. Which is why I stated that blu-ray is nearly 10 years old; it's not waiting for more people to embrace the HD format, the percentage of people that own blu-ray (little under 40%) isn't changing that much from here on. People that don't have blu-ray by now, aren't going to get it.

So Nick not putting the show on blu-ray by now, only costs them money in the long haul. Which is why I personally have become bleak on the blu-ray possibility.

DVDs are cheaper to make and aimed at kids though. Blu-ray sets would also likely be an entire season together, why do you think the DVDs are split up among 10-12 episodes instead of an entire season?

Not at all, releasing blu-ray later makes perfect sense. Not only because some people will double-dip, but also because they get to re-sell the show a second time at a later date after the DVDs are out of print.

Releasing blu-ray first makes it obvious they can't do a second round cash-grab from people who double-dip and then realize there are better sets available. Nick already got your money from the DVDs so even if you trash them or sell them on ebay they don't care.

Cubed, DVDs are not made just for kids. There are plenty of movies that are aimed for adults that are on DVD, too, so your logic makes no sense. I'm the type to buy whatever I can, and I like the DVD releases for this series, so I'm definitely going to keep on getting them as much as I can.

I believe he's only talking in terms of releases of titles generally geared towards kids in the first place.

Season 1 already has a complete DVD set, which I still need to buy. The question is, which one? The US release or the UK release?

Season 2 doesn't have a complete set yet which is strange...

I have both US (R1) and Australia (R4) release of Season 1, the US release has more special features:

Spoiler:
Top row: US (R1)
Bottom row: Australia (R4)

If I'm not mistaken, UK (R2) and Australia (R4) releases should be similar (if not identical) as they are both PAL regions. Oh and take note the audio pitch is transposed to match the higher video frame rate of 25 fps, up from 23.976, so all the character voices sound even younger than they are

As for Season 2 "complete set", I already found it on eBay Australia, and it's officially releasing in UK by end of this month:

Alright then, the US release for season 1 it is then! Hopefully a season 2 set will appear soon.

The UK's season 1 set is 575 mins in total, the US' is is 625, and that audio pitch stuff sounds bizarre. No contest there then.
Tis a shame though, the UK set is dirt cheap. The US set will cost a little more to import.

I get the feeling we've had this conversation before, but I never got round to making a decision.

I hope the next set containing the first batch of New York episodes will be released soon. Retreat sounds okay but I'm already wanting vol 2 of s3. Cubed is right. These sets are better than 4kids by far. Thank God we don't have to do any disc flip-flopping with these. I confess that I double dip because if my Internet ever goes out and I don't have access to my amazon instant video, I can always go to these for backup. And the two parters are separate. I like the recaps too.

Still no blurays. What the heck are they waiting for? Korra, Thundercats, Teen Justice all had them already....

Fine, their loss. Idiots.
