Am I the only one who doesn't like it when the turtles meet dinosaurs in the cartoons
I honestly don't like when the turtles meet dinosaurs, the dinosaurs are so inaccurate it bothers me . I tne 2003 dinosaurs looked like they were reconstructed in the 1920s. The 2012 HSH special looked like it used Jurassic Park for science ( it isn't even close ) , Raptors and T-Rex weren't feathered , Pteradon had a beak with teeth like shape, ect. . Is this just me or do others share my gripe.

I think pop-culture is going to need a lot more time to get used to the idea that Dinosaurs had feathers.
Innacurate or not, the image of dinosaurs as scaley reptilian beasts has been cemented by decades of film and television as "what dinosaurs look like" and the new view of them as giant monster birds with feathers is going to need more time to catch on. I don't mind if TMNT cartoons go with "classic" over accurate, but that's just me. |

It just bothers me because it doesn't feel like they're meeting dinosaurs just fake out dated completely scaly representations of dinosaurs. It really takes away from the experience. I'm not saying they shouldn't do it as it sells toys , but it'd be really nice if they made them accurate like IDW did from what I've seen.

It bothers you that some creatures which we still don't know what they looked like don't look like what we now think they look like which is something that changes all the time but all the pseudo-science they use is fine?
The only one you could criticize is the Nick show since we now know most of them are feathered but even then when you see that Jurassic World didn't take the risk it's difficult to think that they were going to. Now I for one love feathered dinosaurs, I used to hate the idea like most of the people do now but after seeing some kick ass depictions of them I embrace them with open arms. Before the first Jurassic Park we thought dinosaurs were still slow dumb lizards and it was Jurassic Park that changed people's minds and shortly after we stopped seeing the "old" depiction of dinosaurs like the tripod T-Rex, sadly Jurassic World didn't go that route but we just need a something big to expose the general audience and others will follow. |

I don't mind, but I'm not a huge dinosaur fan, per se. I love seeing them appear in pop culture, but as an overweight American, the historical & scientific aspects of their being is admittedly of little interest to me. Besides, TMNT's never been terribly accurate to any of the things it draws influence from, be it asian culture or even the turtle species itself. We've also got races of Dinosaur aliens & the like to consider, so their world clearly plays by different rules anyway.

That being said, I actually loved the Half Shell Heroes special. While the dinosaurs weren't feathered, they did them better than any movie/show I've seen in a long time. The pterosaurs weren't teethed (common mistake) and it was actually called a Pterandon (high-five, TMNT!). Donatello actually pointed out that T.rex had great eyesight and that raptors were very smart and adaptable. I liked the touch of the small dinosaurs, because those are often ignored. And all of the dinosaurs stood in the correct posture! Besides the feathers, my only question is why was there a T.rex 100-million-years ago instead of in its correct time 65-million-years ago? They could have said it was an Allosaurus, which is very similar and lived closer to that time. And too bad they got the Spinosaurus wrong, but since that was a robot I can forgive it a little.

I'm watching it now.
Honestly, I think you'd have more of a point if this had a realistic and detailed art style. But, this animation is so stylized and caricaturized that I'm not sure how much "accuracy" is possible. It's kinda like complaining that the Simpsons aren't anatomically correct. |

I don't know that it bothers me, but I will say that I'd love more accurate depictions of dinosaurs.

I might not be a huge expert on the dinosaur field, but what I think is the Triceratons might be too advanced in the dinosaur genetics and structure as they are human like. Maybe the actual appearance of them at first were based on original dinosaurs, but they adapted over time and became more human like in thinking overtime. Probably best the Triceratons at one point are shown as actual dinosaur appearances before becoming the beings they are now.

Well, it doesn't really bother me because it's a cartoon... but then my avatar is of an unrealistic dino anyway.

I don't mind it at all.
the day will come when a movie comes out, with an accurate depiction of Dinosaurs. But then they would discover another thing, and the Dinosaurs as we know now, would become inaccurate. |

I don't mind. I thought they looked alright in the tv shows and films that I've watched. I don't know much about dinosaurs, though, so I guess that's why I'm not bothered.
