The 87 series went 10 seasons the 2003 one went 7.

Not bad. I'm not wild about some of the fundamentals, but the details are lovely.

Least favorite thing: April. Seriously, showrunners? The first thing shown about her the fact that Donny finds her hot, and not anything about that's, you know, actually about herself? Seriously? While TMNT has never a particularly feminist franchise, the various incarnations at least made sure to treat April as an actual person; here, she's immediately branded as The Love Interest. Not an auspicious beginning.

Favorite thing: He may have only had ten seconds of screen time, but Carlos Chiang O'Brien Gambe stole the episode for me. Loved. Him.

So happy about these episodes...epic!!!

What I'm most psyched about is that not only is Teng Shin included in Splinter's tragic background story, but they gave them a DAUGHTER TOO!!!

My gut tells me the Splinter's daughter(can't spell her name) didn't die!! She will defintely be making an appearence in this series. That's what I'm hoping for at least.

I got the impression Miwa is this version's Karai. So its like Karai is Splinter's daughter and stolen away by Shredder to be his adoptive daughter and now at an early age is one of his underlings/deapartment heads

Your biggest complaint is April shown as a love interest, which will obviously be played as a running gag and nothing more?

What did you expect them to do with April? Her first appearance is the same as all the others, she gets in trouble and needs to be rescued by the Turtles. Happened in the OT, 4kids, Mirage, etc. And April came up with a plan to escape captivity, even if it didn't work.

It was a weak way to introduce april... as just a love interest with NO depth at all. but since we have known for a long time that Splinter will be training April (revealed on the back of the action figure packaging), that should give her some interesting opportunities to grow as a character.

It's the first flippin' episode, and she appeared in less than half of it. How much development do you expect for a character who has about as many lines as the Kraang did?

Seriously, is it so hard to grasp that a character as powerful as the Shredder seems to be would try to master everything he does, including speaking the English language without an thick stereotypically Asian accent?

I found the pilot to be quite enjoyable and I think it helped that I went in with not expecting much. The character designs could be better, but that's a minor compliant since that didn't hinder from being an otherwise great opener. It seems that there's a balance of humor and serious moments, which I like. And if it inspires me to go the extra mile as an aspiring animator, that's cool too. I can't wait to see what's in store for the rest of the series.

I've tried it with mine to no avail. There's probably some trick to it or maybe he just spins the handles.
