I thought too that the streets of the city that never sleeps looked a little deserted but to be fair, it is only the first two episodes and they play at night, so one should cut them some slack
also Id like to give this to think about:the bombed out bronx of the 1960s and 70s was a wasteland practically with vacant lots, sometimes SEVERAL housing blocks completely burned down and abandnned and people say that those streets were empty, too..so there sure IS an example in reality that proves that at times(maybe only for the first two episodes) there CAN be no one around...

So ... is anybody else watching Rise of the Turtles for the 4th time this morning? (5th time for Part 1.)
It's on again tomorrow as well.

You don't need to be a member, but it is region blocked so you might have trouble viewing it if you're not in the US.

Greatly enjoyed the nick turtles. Not to fond of Mikey being a bit stupid. Poor turtle can not seem to catch a break.

I don’t think it has anything to do with age you simply didn’t like the show, I tell you this because even my mother laughed at the first episode and she doesn’t even like TMNT.

To tell you the truth a forgot about that part when I was watching the show, and now I think Paulsen makes a really good Donatello I even think now that the Original Dony would have been better with this voice, let’s remember the casting for the first show was rushed.
I really don’t like that much the new design of the turtles either but I think they do give the turtles more individual personality and they look more like teens.

I hate splinters new look too he looks like something they took out of a Satanic book or something XD, like you said rats are not supposed to be cute but this design is just plain ugly.

I was hoping his voice would match those kinda strong leadership qualities. I kept thinking about American Pie every time he spoke. I just don't think Jason Biggs was a good choice. Mike I could take it leave it as I just didn't have any strong feelings either way.
Well I’ve never liked Raph that much in any incarnation and this is not the exception, he always seems like a Jerk to me. In Leo’s case I think he is more childish and more fun in this version, I guess this version will please all the hatters who said he was to boring or to serious, I think he is ok but I like the 2002 version better.
By far the incarnation that I liked the most is Donatello, He is not to serious like in the 2002 version yet he is not as egocentric like in the 80s version, the only thing I didn’t like is the crush he has on April. Mikey? well he just keeps getting more and more retarded.

Yeah I also feel that Anime stuff was pretty forced too, I don't dislike it that much but it doesn't feel right.
Over all I think the two first episodes where very good, more than I expected, but I think its to early to Judge the entire series just by two introductory episodes.
By the way I’m not trying to bash your opinion or anything I just wanted to share mine using yours as base.

Real rats aren't a thing of beauty? Now really you're thinking of wild sewer/roof rats. Domestic rats tho ARE a thing of beauty. Splinter mutated into an Agouti Berkshire and a perfect one at that. I used to raise/breed/sell/show fancy rats (even had a blue agouti named Hamato Yoshi at one point. He was a total sweetie)

I mean come on. Who could say no to these?? (These are Siamese):

And this little Agouti Dumbo kitten is just soooo fricken adorable!

Yes, and all of those stories actually took the trouble of making her the hero of her own story and letting us get to know her before she met the turtles. Here, her importance is defined by how hot Don finds her. Way to waste her only chance to make a first impression, creators.

Hooray, she got do one thing! How nice of the writers!
All this after TWO episodes. Jesus christ.

How about we give them a chance to do something before we get all soapbox on it? TWO EPISODES.

Well then the one who is Ugly is Splinter not the poor rats.

F*ck, this show is awesome. Still not in love with the comic/anime-style reactions, but in no way do they ruin the show. My only other complaint is that "empty New York syndrome" still seems to be in full effect.

We must've been watching two different Mikes. While this version is silly, he's much more believable. All the Turtles act younger here anyway. Nick Mike seems to have good intentions and a decent heart, as opposed to the always-on, always-irritating, selfish 4Kids version. I actually got shades of Fred-Wolf Mike from this one, which is great.

Also, poor dude. Always the first one to discover Krang.

The empty New York is a blessing in disguise. Do you guys really want to see a bunch of poorly animated human pedestrians walking down the streets?

I'm with you, and I'm glad they did it that way, but the streets being so empty did seem kind of odd at times.

Yes. Because empty New York has always been, and continues to be, distractingly stupid.
