I for one enjoyed nearly everything about this show, except for the way Michelangelo acted. He just came off too stupid for me to like, which was one of my biggest fears, especially when we got wind of who was gonna be playing him.

As mentioned here already, yeah, the lack of civilians and complete lack of traffic is truly puzzling. You probably shouldn't be doing a cartoon in New York City if you intend to pretend it doesn't, you know, have the largest population of any city in the US.

I don't see how Mikey was "stupid" at all. He is unfamiliar with the human world, hence his reaction to the neon lights in the store windows, and he is eager like wanting to become the leader just because he says so.

In fact this version of Mike is just plain fun.

Ugh, there always has to be someone who plays the, "Sexist" and "Feminism" card for every show...the guy (usually women) who try to ruin it for everyone.

April got about 1 minute of screentime in the first episode and was mostly captive in the second, what on Earth did you expect them to show her doing?

Pretty good start. I don't think I'll be able to add anything new, but it was weird that the turtles have TV but have no clue what Pizza was. I understand this is suppose to make them very inexperienced, but they do watch TV! Donatello crushing on April is just uncomfortable. Otherwise, it's very entertaining with some good humor.

By far the incarnation that I liked the most is Donatello, He is not to serious like in the 2002 version yet he is not as egocentric like in the 80s version, the only thing I didn’t like is the crush he has on April. Mikey? well he just keeps getting more and more retarded.

I'm not sure where you are getting this two new characters per episode thing. There were more than two characters added in the second part. Also was the reason all the Kraangs looked the same because of the budget?

Saw part 2 now. I'm not sure how the Turtles suddenly became so much better fighters since the last episode. I mean, there was talk about them needing to be re-trained to fight as a team... but we don't see any such team training taking place, and here they are making mincemeat out of the Kraang wholesale when they couldn't so much as ding the four of them in the first episode.

I really did just see a guy turn into Plant-Man after being exposed to this Fred Wolf-like mutagen, didn't I? Ugh... this is a whole new layer of... oh, never mind.

Thing is, that person is usually right.

Now, in this case I agree that it's a little much to cry foul on the show's treatment of women after only 45 minutes. But pointing out that they barely did anything to establish April's character in the premiere is a legitimate, if currently minor, complaint.

Aren't you also not supposed to spin nunchaku? On the other hand, bo-spinning is a pretty regular part of just-for-show katas.

I still don't understand why it bothers you so much. The Mirage/4Kids ooze that merely mutates any animal into a humanoid creature is just as absurd a notion.

I liked the weapon spinning. It was just awesome.

As for the training thing, I think it was all about teamwork and how they weren't working as a team. Once a leader was established, they learned how to work as a team, and that was good because they had an established goal in mind, which was to save April and her dad. It worked just fine, to be honest.

Does anyone else agree that Hoon Lee just might be the best Splinter we've ever had? Because I'm liking his voice for Splinter alot more than 2k3 Splinter's voice actor.

I'm not certain that's a rational post.

Over here we have the Mirage/4Kids (and to a lesser degree even the movie ooze) ooze... its rules are simple: it hyper-evolves animals into generally humanoid and sentient stature.

Over there we have the Fred Wolf/Nickelodeon mutagen... it's rules are nonsense: after exposure to it, the creature or animal exposed mutates into a hybrid of whatever the last living thing it touched was.

Which is nonsense. There is no "cellular memory" on a genetic level if I'm trimming my jade plant. And right now we're full of living organisms... if I'm exposed to Fred Wolf/Nick ooze right now and the last living thing I touched was a dandelion, why would I become Dandelion Man and not, say, amoeba man? Or if I had the flu virus, Flu Man?

It's just a nonsense, nonsense mutagen that doesn't hold up to even the slightest level of scrutiny and was only invented to crank out a steady supply of mutant toys for Playmates.

more likely would be e. coli or other gut bacteria that live inside people all the time! i believe there's even fungi that lives in human intestines. it doesn't really make sense at all, yeah, but i wonder if you could rationalize it somehow by limiting it to contact with any external organism outside of the electromagnetic aura generated by the victim/host organism. XD

totally agreed. it's great to see some folks here approaching the show on that level, it's absolutely important to analyze and critique in that way. and we critique because we love, right?? doesn't mean the show is bad.
