Yeah. The artists were named after the archangels (Michael, Raphael) or saints (Donatello's real name was Donato which stems from Donatus, the name of several patron saints)

Donatello/Donato/Donatus means Given
Leonardo means Brave Lion
Michelangelo/Michael means "Who Is Like God?" (yeah...it's a question *lol*)
Raphael means God Has Healed

Because you know... Kids can totally pick up on christian allegories in childrens cartoons.

And really if parents use that as something to bitch about then they really never saw this show before have they?

One scene I thought was funny was when Leo starts doing millitary style hand signals and Raph, mimicing Leo Wispers"We don't know what this means".I though that was funny.

That's cool to know. I never knew that most of their names were related to Biblical names. My name is Biblical also; it means "my God is Yahweh".

Michael is the top Archangel

Raphael is also an archangel but is also a guardian angel.

Ironically enough Sept 29th is the feast/holy day for both Michael and Raphael.

Thank you--and you, Cipher. And I agree! None of my criticisms mean that I didn't enjoy the show or think people shouldn't enjoy it--just that I didn't enjoy those bits.

While I stand by my comments and I'd really like to continue the conversation,I can tell some people just think I'm sucking the fun out of the place--so, I've written a big ol' wall of text (with pictures!) outlining the hows and whys of my thinking, so if any of you would like to continue the conversation, please direct your slings and arrows here.

To end on a positive note: I am super-glad that we'll get a series which will almost certainly have consistently high production values.

My co-worker's two boys, ages 3 and 7, watched the show over the weekend and have apparently been quoting from it constantly ever since. Mwahahaha. The corruption of the young is underway.

good first episode(s) I enjoyed this and didn't think I would because it was CGI.

things off the top of my head:

I liked Raphael potrayal as well as Leo's geekiness. The fact that Raph won doesn't bother me like it seems to bother others on here.

Mikey was cute and innocent and I liked that so far he seems ok but I'm cautious at this point. I don't know how some people can already declare that he is better than 4kids Mikey and that he is not as annoying or insufferably immature so soon. I honestly think it's too early to make that call. He doesn't seem as cocky or as full of himself as 4kids Mike which is good, but if he becomes as annoying and dumb I'll be mad. My biggest concern is that he will be really dumb and the resident screw up of the team. He's already shown signs of this with letting Snake get away and being stupid enough to genuanly not get the van plan. Some people brush it off, I find them to be worrisome indicators of a dumb Mikey that screws up for laughs.

Don being voiced by Rob paulsen didn't bug me like it did other people. He might have sounded the same but Rob sounds the same no matter charactewr he plays, and honestly Rob's Don didn't have that "edge" his Raphael from the 80's toon does. Actually, I thought he came off as a bit wimpy. Especially his exchange with Raph in the sparring scene. He isn't even all that sarcastic and I really wanted him to be like Dr. Venture from Venture Bros. cartoon.

The Kraang and their Mojo jo jo talk annoyed me right away. Shut up already.

The pizza scene was cute, but I hope the turtles don't act like addicts for the stuff like in the 80's toon.

April as a teen doesn't bother me. She seems cool and gutsy. Don's crush on her doesn't rub me the wrong way like it does other people. There is nothing creepy about it yet.

I don't like Splinter or his voice, he sounds like George Takei, even though I know it's not him. I don't know there is something exegerated about his speech patterns.

Snake or could take him or leave him. I have no idea why he turned into weed like that.

I wonder.....Which shuriken was found?

If I remeber well..... Leo used one shuriken for stop the van, Donatello used one shuriken for stop the robot at helycopter, and then again Leo used one shuriken for stopping Snakeweed.....

Which one of those do you think was found and showed on TV????

I thought it was the one from the van that Leo threw, but we really don't know. Maybe we'll find out later.

Don has a missing tooth to give him some personality, the same way C-3PO has a silver leg in Star War IV.

Mikey's kind of been considered the stupid one for a while since 4Kids made him an egoistic idiot. I think Nickelodeon sort of expanded on that idea and made him annoying AND somewhat dumb.

So....has anyone thought to see what Laird thought?

(Not sure why I care, just seems like an opinion that would be interesting to see.)

EDIT:
Wait...here it is:

Can't he just ask Nickelodeon? I mean, he was the one who created the entire thing... you'd think they'd give him the episode through the internet or on a DVD if he'd asked if not already...

Not everyone has DVR's... Heck I don't even have a DVD player (except the one in my computer). I've got a VCR still.
