If I had to speculate, I think the Foot will dissect the StockGen mutagen and -- in trying to create mutants better than StockGen's -- decide that taking sentient, trained humans and then mutating them makes more sense than taking mindless animals and mutating them and then having to teach/train them from the ground up. Saves time, at least. So they change the mutagen and add some component of gene-splice with animals of their choosing.

But whatever IDW does, if they do the "last animal you touched" thing with mutagen I'll really have to walk away. I don't think they will, though.

Didi you hear that, Tom? There is still time to change things if you've already gone down this route. But we trust you, either way.

It's gonna be "last food touched" actually. Wait till you guys meet the Brussel Sprout Samurai! He's gonna team up with the Granola Ghoul, the Milky Maniac, and the Watermelon Warrior for the ultimate smack down:

Four Heroes in a Half-Shell versus the Four Food Groups!

I can't believe you got the USDA to license the four food groups! This isn't gonna be a regular story arc, it's gonna be a buffet!

I'm thrilled at the prospect of the Aliterative Avacado, personally.

Good bet. The Raph micro really points that way. I'm almost certain Alopex's story was total bullsh*t, plus that last line.

Since no one's really mentioned it yet, what does everyone think about the Turtles Forever-style Technodrome with the eye in the center?

Page 6 shows Krang delivering a speech in front of the eye-cannon/whatever-it-is, and a couple pages preciding it (the one with Baxter?) shows a diagram of the fortress in a very Turtles Forever-inspired design.

Will it be anything as awesome as this?

It dropped the ball not including TMNT.

I blame THE WALTZ!

As for the issue itself, its so many plots dangling and slowly coming together. The result with Slash might play into the temptation of Leo to join the dark side in Karai's place.

There are two more unaccounted for cages correct? Lets assume these two are evil mutants. If so the gang of four could team up for a four on four mutant royale. Or Apolex is one of the two and one of the two unaccounted for is a good mutant. Either way i wonder if the group at the moment just Old Hob and Slash team will fall under Shredder or play a third party.

I didn't even notice it on my first read. Very interesting. I love the fact that inspiration can come from anywhere. I have no problem with it. I actually like it; there was starting to be too much Fred Wolf-ism for my taste. I like that it is not THE TECHNODROME, but a version of it.

I know a lot of people here love the OT, so what do you guys think? Blasphemy?

I like the "death star" Technodrome, but I like how the design infused both versions: the center eye-cannon placed on giant treads.

Who knows - perhaps the thing can physically lift off the treads like a giant mobile launch pad like Cape Canaveral used for the shuttle!

I found it sort of odd that they all took what Leo did to be a killing strike. I mean would it hurt to have a sword impaled into your shoulder? Yes, but would that wound mean death, probably not. Looking at how the sword entered I didn't think that it hit anything too vital and when you consider the fact that we know that there was the whole experiementation for Terrapin Armor, it would be foolish to think that their wasn't a bit of super soldier in Slash which would mean he could survive something like that.

I think it was the betrayal which really affected Slash, in his limited understanding I think he took Leo's speech trying to subdue him as a kind act, but then when he was surprised by April and her flashlight it activated his fight or flight instinct and he attacked Leo, then when the one about to calm him down hurt him it made him run. It was sort of a sad moment, he removes the mask the thing that he had to try and make himselves more like him and ran, knowing full well that he could never be one of them.

The part with Mikey was pretty sad though.
I think the Mikey part would have had some more punch if it was what the issue ended on. I had a tear in my eye and was feeling the same way that I did when I first finished reading the Donatello Micro from Mirage. Then to have it immediately jump back to Exposition with Master Splinter just totally ruined the moment for me. I kind of wish that Splinter had addressed the Leonardo thing first and then when Raph quipped back that that didn't explain Mikey's reaction you end on the whole thing with him only wanting to love and be loved back.

Glad to see Old Hob finally begin to step out on his own, though. Just as sometimes you have to kill, there are times when you don't. I'm sure next we see Slash, it will be very different circumstances. Mainly so we don't have to keep wondering why he isn't being killed off!
Part of me wishes they'd gotten rid of the whole epilogue, let us dwell on the Turtles feelings for a month, before you tell us that Slash is still alive. Though the reemergence of Hob, does cement in my mind the fact that he will definitely be one of the Villain one-shots coming next year.

The Turtles don't know about the Terrapin Armor experiments, only April would. Also, people forget that the Turtles are still kids - barely over a year old, post-mutation.

Yes, but I do know about the experiments, so it did effect my interpretation of the scene... which is what I was complaining about, as a reader I felt that particular scene missed the mark they were trying to hit.

Of course, for at least a month. The only thing that was killed this issue was any and all impact or consequence to Slash's fate and Leonardo's "choice."

I only included a month because my guess is that Hob and Slash will end up factoring into the Krang war, otherwise why introduce their alliance so early...

If they do not show up in issue 17-20 though then I will be upset because they so quickly lobbed off any significance of what happened in the fight with Slash for no significant reason. Why put the foreshadowing there if you could have just as easily thrown it in at the end or middle of an issue in the Krang War to set up some sort of Evil Mutanimals arc in the future. Heck that would have been an awesome way to open up a book about Hob and Slash starting their own Group of mutants with blackjack... and hookers...
