I want this show to feel free to develop it's own take on characters, and to create new ones. The OT should be it's own entity, not one that every show has to strictly emulate just to appease people. Otherwise (as I've always said before) the 2k3 Turtles wouldn't exist, it would just end up being another OT rehash.

I sorta feel this way too....I'm not to keen on some of the OT characters appearing in the show anymore....I don't want Bebop, Rocksteady, or Mondo Gecko....I just want to see Fishface and Rahzar developed more, they started off good...but now they are getting shafted.

What even happened to Snakeweed?? He was pretty cool.

that being said...I really want Bishop to come back XD so I guess I'm kinda a hypocrite...

I don't think you understood it correctly.

The show borrows more from the OT Universe then any other And as much as I like some of it. I could do without Bebop & Rocksteady because we had Dogpound (now Rahzar) and Fishface. And I feel that by constantly reintroducing those characters you are shafting the new, already undeveloped ones.

Look, I'm over the moon about Mondo Gecko and Muckman but if that means I see less Rahzar, Fishface or Snakeweed (Which is my favourite Mutant) then I wish they didn't pander to my nostalgia.

World building is important, and I feel we've lost a lot of that by continuing to cater. I mean do we need the Turtle Van instead of the Shellraiser? Or what was the point of bringing in Mutagen Man only to forget his existence entirely.

I love Bebop & Rocksteady, but I'd honestly be ok with them sitting this one out. I grew to like Rahzar and Fishface.

The trailer was awesome.

-Leo one shot, in all it's glory, being brought into the nick verse. That shot on the rooftop, and the shot of him through the window gave me chills.
-shredder vs splinter again, and shredder vs freaking leather head. Epic.
-last year, we got splinters narration. this year, we get shredders
-some more raph/casey action together
-THE HUMANS ARE FINALLY DOING SOMETHING, those were heavily armed troops on the rooftop

Couple things I noticed
-we see Rahzar and tiger claw, wonder where fish face is
-shredder standing over the little girl Leo met and Ciros pizza boy. Don't know if that's just a shot of shredder creating chaos or what
-Timothy can be seen in the shots of the lair, wonder what's going to happen with him
-kirby, Leo nor splinter were with them in the van or the giant robot. kirby i have no idea what theyre going to do with, leos probably getting beat up (really hope that leo/donnie conflict happens) and i wonder if splinter is captured back in the lair
-the kraang for some reason now want splinter? Not april

in regards to donnies "my baby" ill give you that my first thought was "april" to which i thought would be a little over the top (and im even one of the people who doesnt mind donnies crush on her) but really, im sure its about the shellraiser. the shellraiser has had a great run, one and a half or so seasons, but i think its time is up, because the van is here, and i just cant see them taking it out into the woods

I don't see it as over abundance of OT in the show.

The storyline and characteristics are pretty much unique to 2k12, nothing is totally carried over from OT. Think of Mutagen Man, Fly Baxter, Bebop and Rockyeady to name a few. They pretty much struck the right balance between keeping things fresh and introducing new things (Fishface, Squirrelanoids, Fungus Humunguous, etc) and added occasional OT elements.

What is the point in doing a NEW show if it's a complete rehash of everything previous?

You want such-and-such? Go watch them in 2003/1990/whenever such-and-such showed up.

Some people think this show is their's and their's alone.

They're trying to please too many people and it's starting to dilute the show. They should stop trying to pander to 'older' fans 'I want this back' and if they lose some of these 'fans' then big deal.

Agreed. While I understand that this series is it's own entity as well as bringing and changing the characters from previous versions, it's too reliant on the OT.

I don't feel the Nick show is fully pandering. They're using old characters from previous incarnations, but doing their on take on them...but I do feel that they are at times, mainly the OT turtles in Wormquake and bringing in Bebop, Rocksteady, and Fly Baxter. Mondo Gecko I'm actually looking forward to though.

I don't think that's it. I think people are curious of certain incarnations' take on these stories, like the Leo one-shot which is a great story and seems that no matter what, OT excluded, it will get adapted or approached in some way or form.

I know i'm one to talk, because I have also asked about certain situations and characters from previous incarnations. But I also let this series be what it is. This series is not going to appeal to everyone who has been a fan of TMNT and that's fine. Just simply acknowledge this isn't the incarnation you feel is suitable for you and let the matter go.

Instead of complaining about so and so should show up, or they should have this plot line, or so and so should say this.

Try doing something constructive like say write out your own version of an episode or story arc. So that way even though it is essentially a fan fic you are still describing the characters and story in the manner you want them to be.

Or maybe start your own incarnation of TMNT, write your own take of the franchise. Who knows, maybe someone may see it...like it...and want to implement it as the next installment of the TMNT Franchise. The nick show is Ciro's vision of what TMNT should be, and yes part of it is pandering to the fans..

But the next incarnation could be your vision, be it TV series, movie, or comic book.

And what about Leatherhead... decades?

Okay, I love original stories as much as the next Turtles junkie, but that Leo one-shot is one of those stories that gives the Turtles SO much character development, especially Leo and Raph. It's also going to move the plot to Northampton and the Turtles wanting to take out Shredder once and for all. Besides, it looks like Ciro's gonna put the Turtles through lots of pain, as it looks like that the Leo one-shot is gonna happen either during or after the Kraang invasion.

I think people need to realize...this show is for KIDS. Unless their parents are hardcore TMNT fans and have shown their kids all their toys and the old cartoons, they won't know who Muckman, Mutagen Man, Mondo Gecko, Rocksteady and Bebop, or ANY of the OT characters that appear in the Nick toon are.

People need to realize while this is a NEW TMNT cartoon, the people that work on it, particularly Ciro, are obviously fans of the OT and use it as influence along with the Mirage comics. The same can be said of the IDW comics. The kids that grew up with the original TMNT cartoon are now grown up and working on TMNT themselves and want to come with new interpretations of characters they remember liking as well as making new characters alongside them.

They're doing their own takes on things, their own spin on characters, everything. Fans complain if they use new characters, change an existing character, or use a character from the OT. It seems nothing ever satisfies them.

It all again comes down to, this is a cartoon for kids, to sell toys, to sell video games, to sell MERCHANDISE. Not to appease full grown adults. They have given adult fans nods in everything from the Retro Turtle toys, to the clothing and other various merchandise. The reintroduced characters from the OT in the Nick toon can even be considered nods to the adult fans, though it seems it has had the opposite effect in that people are complaining about such things.

I dunno. Just my thoughts on things. I personally don't mind seeing new incarnations of characters in the Nick show. Much like the IDW comics, I find it interesting to see what other peoples' takes are of characters I remember from the OT and stuff. The show itself is still good, and the OT characters tend to be minor in appearance, so it doesn't detract anything that is going on the show otherwise.

Also, in closing...that new Turtle Van. *squeeee* Love it.

The rest of season 2 looks awesome for sure. I love where it's going. As for bringing in characters from the OT, I don't mind it at all. The thing you need to realize is this show is paying homage to everything that came before it, so they're going to have certain elements from the different incarnations. I say bring it on because this show is good at doing it in a way that makes me feel amazed and excited. That Leo one-shot is going to be awesome, and I love how they have it during the winter time just as it was in the comic. I know they'll do a good job with it, and I definitely can't wait for it.

This reminded me of a Dr Who episode where Amy went into a different timestream on the same planet as the Doctor and Rory and when they find her, she's been by herself for thirty some years, while for them it was a matter of hours.

This is possibly what Ciro's been talking about when he says we see Mikey mature. A situation like seperation from his brothers will really put a serious change in him.
