Mario, Pokemon and Zelda are expected to have more characters on the roster than the others, they're Nintendo's 3 biggest franchises.

I think the problem is Sakurai views Donkey Kong/Diddy as Mario characters (kind of like Yoshi and Wario, who actually have their own series), so that's why he doesn't put any more DK newcomers.

Its especially noticeable how there's never been a Wario Ware character on the roster, probably because Sakurai feels Wario is just a Mario character despite giving him a Ware Ware stage and outfit and some assist trophies. So we'll never get a Wario Ware character on the roster either.

Why do you pretend that you know what he thinks and feels? You are not Sakurai. You do NOT know what goes through his head.

It's 100% obvious, by the way, that DK, Wario, and Yoshi are their own series reps. That's why they have their own series logo.

Yeah, maybe KI didn't deserve 3 spots, but I haven't played Uprising, not sure if Patulena or Dark Pitt really deserve spots. They might be interesting characters. His revival also kind of failed to take off and it was partly the 3DS' fault so giving him some love in Smash is ok, especially since Dark Pitt is a clone, he didn't really take a real slot.

Well I guess after Operation Rainfall, the re-printing of the game in the US and the hype the new game has probably influenced Shulk appearing more than anything. Maybe Nintendo wants Xenoblade to be a big new IP. I'm sure Nintendo suggests plenty of characters for the next Smash as we've seen from interviews.

As far as Zelda, do we really need a newcomer? The trio represents the franchises recurring characters. I do think Ganondorf deserves to not be a clone anymore. And I love toon Link but I think the "clone" link should be based on a classic Zelda game, we already got Toon Link in Brawl so a retro-link would've been nice, but I guess that was done since the remake came out. My only complain with the Zelda characters are Shiek becoming a character on its own and re-using the Twilight Princess designs when we had a newer game released years before it.

I only want another Metroid rep because I like franchises having the "hero" and the "antagonist", but yeah Metroid isn't a franchise that really allows for that. Ridley could work but the shitstorms of Ridley not making it is probably more entertaining than Ridley actually appearing. Donkey Kong while big and deserving of another character I can't really think of another one that I'd want from it? Dixie only makes sense to have another female character. And K. Rool doesn't make sense since he hasn't been a part of the DKC revival. Warioware does indeed deserve a character and they have excellent choices, hopefully for the next Smash.

After the Mario Kart news its pretty obvious Smash Bros. is going to get some pretty extensive DLC too.

If Ice Climbers, Lucas and Wolf aren't in the final game, I really hope they're free DLC. There's no reason we should pay for former veterans, and I still don't get why they would be cut when we have trash like Dark Pit and Doctor Mario on the roster.

Secondly I'd love to see Mewtwo back as DLC, I'd actually pay for him. Maybe they're holding back on Ridley and Dixie Kong to make a sizeable DLC pack? Logic would dictate they would hold over popular characters for DLC, rather than characters like Shulk, Wii Fit Trainer or Lucina who most people wouldn't pay for other than hardcore Smash players.

I'll be willing to forgive Sakurai's bias roster as long as we get some extensive DLC characters. Judging by Mario Kart's pricing, I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo sells them in character packs of 3-4 characters for only like $9.99 or something.

Between these leaks, the Mario Kart DLC, and Pokkén Tournament, there is a lot to love about the information presented about Nintendo games this week.

So anyway, two days ago when they were showing the 1P mode, Sakurai mentioned that Master Hand was the end, and if you booted up the difficulty, you might see someone else. Do you think he was talking about Crazy Hand? Tabuu? Another entity altogether?
