Easily one of the best episodes of the series, as far as I'm concerned! This is the Nick toon at it's best. A bit of gross stuff, humor & action blended together, a monstrous villain, darkness, tons of comic/film nods, nature, self-doubt & conquer over self, all my favorite turtle tropes! My only issue is that I'm finding Seth Green's Leonardo hard to swallow. It's not that he's a bad actor or anything, it's just so freakin' jarring compared to Dom, a replacement who seamlessly blended in after an episode or two. I hope I'll get used to it, or that he'll pitch it up a bit over time, 'cause I dunno, man, I can't get into it right now...

Powder, that's awesome.
Just watched this, I'm a huge F13 fan so this episode hit all the right spots for me - when the Creep showed up with the bag on his head I knew it was only a matter of time before he put Casey's mask on, and he didn't disappoint. Would have liked to have seen more focus on the Turtles, April & Casey coming to terms with what's happened, though. OK, so you could say that an episode where the characters basically sit around just talking could be boring, but it would have provided some much needed character development. The Turtles have lost their home, and their father - hopefully this will force them to act a little more mature, particularly Mikey. And put me in the camp that doesn't like Leo's new voice, at all. |

They should seriously consider doing a Creep action figure, with Casey's mask. Done right that could be a really cool one. I don't tend to collect much outside my fave character and have no villains, but if it was cool that might be one I'd consider.

I really liked the beginning which offered multiple references to the Mirage comics and the 1990 movie. That was a great starting point. It was neat to see the script flipped and see Leo be the one in the bathtub, when the script was flipped originally from Leo being the one hurt in the Mirage comics to having Raph be hurt in the 1990 movie. I liked they used the "constant vigil" line as well. Loved seeing Donnie and Casey with the beat up truck too.
Crognard the Barbarian seems like it will offer tons of laughs this season. I liked the new show the turtles will be watching. It was cool that they explained Leo's voice changing through actual events of the show. Having his throat being messed up by Shredder. They might as well have considering it would be noticeable. This episode had a good Halloween vibe to it. All of the Friday the 13th references were pretty cool even though I'm not a huge fan of the series. I caught and understood most of them though. This episode did remind me a lot of Raph's situation with Bloodsucker in the Mirage comics. It was weird to see Raph so un-turtle-like.

I'm with you about Seth Green, it is very jarring to hear him. I really loved Dom as Leo, he fit the role perfectly. They should have kept him on full time. But yeah, I hope Seth will grow on me.

Powder, that is an awesome rendering of The Creep. You are awesome.
As for Seth, I do admit, it was jarring at first to hear him, but then I got used to it and said to myself, "Yeah, this guy works well for Leo." I watched the ep twice yesterday because that's how much I love it.

I watched the last three episodes of season 2 and this episode earlier. I will speak about this ep for now.
Anyway, I really, really enjoyed it. I have always been partial to stories set in Northampton and the farmhouse has never looked better. The episode really looked great in that CG style. I loved the nods and allusions to Mirage and the original film, such as April drawing the guys, Mikey humming the theme that Donnie does in 1990 film while walking near the house, and of course Raph looking over Leo as the latter is lying injured in the bath. I liked the way they blended both 1990 and Mirage in that scene. Seth Green's deeper voice seems to trigger a transition in Leonardo thematically. I think we will see a harder, more cynical Leo in future. In the first two seasons he seemed a bit too amicable, not the assertive leader that he generally is. The woods looked fantastic at night and the Creep storyline was pretty good. The resolution to the episode seemed rushed but that's a minor complaint. I haven't read the thread so I imagine many of these points will already have been made. But this was one of my favourite episodes of the entire series (as was the double-part Invasion ep, but I will talk about that tomorrow). |

On Seth... during the scene just before they split up especially, I thought he sounded great. He still clearly wasn't Biggs or Dom, but it felt pretty right to me. At other points... it was a bit distracting, yeah. My wife had a harder time with it than I did, but I like Seth and I thought he did well. I'm sure we'll adjust to it.

True and would make a lot of sense, given all that's happened it's the sort of thing that probably makes them all have to grow up pretty fast at this point, with Leo embracing that probably more than anyone else. With Splinter currently gone, and for all they know he could be gone for good, and everything else that's happened, the time to be a kid still finding your place is over.

Seth Green is a bad voice actor. He's using his own voice for Leo rather than trying to imitate the Leo voice.

I have a feeling if he tried to emulate Biggs, we'd end up with a Chris Griffin sounding Leonardo.

It's not worth it, man. Cubed is like in his own world, totally oblivious to what we all think of him. Hell, he probably doesn't even notice in the vote section there's a choice that's basically about him.
