Casey is incredibly mellow so far, unless like you said in one of the other threads, that something happens that molds Casey into the character that we're all used of.

That aside, it's pretty obvious, imo, that Donnie will have a lot in store because he's the tech guy., which means finding a safe, undetectable way back into NYC without alerting the Kraang (which is why I feel the Buried Secrets ep was needed, as I feel the Kraang ship they found or components from it is going to become the new Turtle Blimp). He's also the only one who knows how to make retromutagen and the entire city has been Kraagafied, as I think Casey mentioned...so yeah. Why wouldn't Donnie have a lot in store for him? To be honest, I'm surprised they haven't written his character snapping yet.
Well then, Casey should be bonding with Mikey then, since he's the other Turtle that doesn't get much screen/story time like Donnie and Leo do. But basically, I'm just getting bored with the Donnie stuff. He's already had so much character development, lets concentrate on the other Turtles now.

Edit: Also find it hilarious that you decided now of all times, when my post was not even opinionated but pointing out a purely false knee-jerk interpretation of the interview, to accuse me of being a PR. Congratulations on building a mountain from not even a molehill, but absolutely nothing at all.

Trust me, I read your posts across the board as well, and you're a shining example of what I talked about above.
Sadly, when it comes to my instincts on this kind of thing, I have yet to be wrong! And knee jerk reation, I suggest your re-read your posts. It screams a PR trying to do damage control.

Well, I got news for you, it's not just us that is getting disappointed in the show. Just looking at the ratings, it seems like many people are jumping ship. I think it started when they mutated Karai. They really need to de-mutate her and make her a full time character now. She has way too many fans to just forget her like they have done. Since she has mutated, the show's ratings have dropped into the 1.5 million now. Whatever Ciro and company are doing, either getting rid of characters that people liked ( Karai, Irma) having the show based so heavily on one Turtle (2k3 did this with Leo, and I think that might have been the reason for the low ratings) and that the whole show revolving around April half assed seems to be turning people off of the show. He needs to stop worrying about what possible new fans might think about catching up to story arcs, and starte worrying about the fans who got fed up and ditched the show.

Karai is one of my favorite characters too. I'm holding off on getting upset about her mutation as I'm waiting to see what they'll do with it. If she ends up being Wingnut 2.0 and the entire ordeal was just to push her off the screen for a while, I'll be highly upset and will loudly complain that it was a complete hack move and a cop out. If they can make the problem interesting, especially playing Shredder and Splinter's love for her into the mix and having all three of these characters grow from what happened, I'll love it and praise it.

The problem I'm having right now is that we have to play the damn waiting game. Trust me when I agree that this whole 'North Hampton filler' roller coaster is starting to get boring fast. Monster of the Week for 6 episodes straight is not my idea of a fun time.

Hopefully episode 7 is the vision quest and we can start getting our asses back to New York.

(Edit: Monster of the week episodes can be good fun and help keep the plot from running away at a break neck pace. Some of my favorite episodes are those types (love the squirellanoids, especially their designs), but too many of these at once can also make the plot feel like its stuck in the mud and not moving anywhere.)

While they were on the farm, I was hoping to be getting a silent Raphael, watching everyone on top of the roof of the house or barn, Mikey going solo, spending his time training hard in the barn and punching holes in the walls. I wanted to see Raph's reaction when he realized it was April bringing Kraang Irma to the lair that started the ball rolling, and I wanted to see Leo's reaction when he hears what happened to Splinter. I was hoping he would get all pissed off at April, but then they would recreate the whole thing of her falling into the ice pond, and him rescuing her, and that's what sets his spirits straight. Granted, they might still pull that off, but for now, it's been such a waste on pointless mutants when we could be getting damn good character development. And I'm getting sick of the entire plot revolving around April. Every major breakthrough has to be wrapped around her.

Definitely, DEFINITELY agree with this. I still think it's a complete travesty we didn't get a scene of Raph, Donnie, and Mikey sitting Leo down after he's recovered a bit and having the talk with him. I wanted to see it hit Leo like a truck and for him to become overcome with grief.

Of course Mikey would have immediately tried to brush it off by saying Splinter is totally fine, but Donnie would frown, Raph would shake his head, and Leo would sadly nod, coming to realize how much he has to grow now that Splinter is dead.

But instead we got 'Guys, I think Splinter is still alive.'

WAY TO DROP THE BALL CIRO.

It seems to me, they want to avoid emotional moments because they don't feel confident in writing them well enough in certain scenes without making them feel awkward or maybe it would've change the tone of the show too much. I really don't know what to say.

Yah, these guy's defiantly seem to have a hard time writing any kinds of emotional scenes. We literally get no reactions from any one in important messages. One example would be..

Karai being Splinters kid and Leo knowing the entire time while the others were in the dark about it, seriously nothing? You'd think they'd be upset a little over it and conflicted over the idea, they brush it off like it's no big deal

Or

Karai being Mutated?

The only turtle that seems to have any kinds of emotions in this series is Leo, that's not anger any ways that'd be Donnie's department in this series

It's not only the love stories this season that's bothering me, Lord knows I'm going to be sick to my stomach when Mikey crushes on the newbie girl. We already have the fun love triangle to deal with, do the writers love this stuff or some thing?

It's the Monsters of the week plots, I am not a fan if horror flicks so

I wish we'd get back to the actual plot AKA New York I guess
Shame, I was really looking forward to seeing the turtles outside of New York in this series

Though yah, kind of strange how Raph is the turtle Casey hangs out the least with in this series, we've only got a few scenes top between them. He's even having fun with Leo more in this arc.

Well any ways, sorry for my rant. Just needed to get my frustration with the series current plots right now.

I am looking forward to the Spirit Quest arc and Dark Raph plot though.

If they made her story compelling or half as interesting like Kairi's, I'd care more. Honestly, at this point, I just view April and her story as needing to be over so we can focus on other characters. I don't--or I'm truly hard not to hate this version of April...but honestly, it's getting hard.

Her being important to the plot/Kraang feels forced at best at this point, her personality is...arguably annoying at times, the fact that they felt the need to put her in a love triangle (ironically, she's the only one I like in it so far) and the fact that she is NEVER called out on her faults or mistakes is grating. The latter in particular, since she not only doesn't mind getting upset over mistakes, but holds grudges. (Not saying she wasn't arguably justified, just that she does.) It would be nice to see the shoe on the other foot for once.

April gets on my nerve too. At first I liked the fact that she wasn't reduced to being a damsel in distress like in previous incarnations, but I feel like she is a more important/proeminent character than the turtles theselves. She gets more focus, more entanglement with the plots... I wish the 4 guys and their interactions were explored more, and that less time was devoted to her and the triangle and more on the guys and a plot renewal.

Sad thing, they did such a good job with the Mikey calming Raph down moment. So, they can do it! But, I'm sure it's not helping things when the ceo of Nick says his favorite episode is Pizza Face, and let's face it, the episodes are more into that kind of quality instead of Wrath of Tiger Claw or Vengence is Mine kind of quality. Who knows, maybe even Playmates wants a change, I hear they have more influence on what happens on the show than anything. They were the ones that wanted the 15 new mutants a season introduced so they can make toys out of them. Now, in defense of the producers, perhaps they are trying to get the 15 mutants/new toys episods done and out of the way, and as soon as that goal is met, then they will get down to business.

April pretty much is a damsel in this show.

she's been captured...what? 6 times?? I seriously think it's been more or less 6 times.

and that's not including the times the dudes just had to save her skin from a sticky situation.
such as being saved from the rats and being saved from the robot in alien agenda....and many more.

Hence the "at first".
And though I agree with you, this incarnation of April is still more proactive in terms of self-defense than April in the OT was, for instance. She managed to dodge Karai on her own, and fought some Foot Ninjas. Plus of course her Deus Ex Machina powers that saved her three times now, I think.

well OT April didn't have a love triangle to deal with so that's a plus.

and 2003 April was better than both XD and she wasn't even an alien/mutant/psychic/ninja, with deus ex machina powers!(though she did learn some self defense from Splinter) and of course no love triangle.

I also don't remember 2003 April getting captured...or at least not as much to notice ...(someone wanna refresh my memory?)

Not just saving herself, but the turtles (and sometimes Casey) too.
  • The Kraang Conspiracy - against Kraangdroids
  • The Invasion - against Kraang Prime
  • Buried Secrets - against "Mom"
Not to mention all the times she get the "feeling" of the right direction to get to the supposed destination etc.

She was captured by Baxter Stockman in Insane In The Membrane and possibly more eps I probably need to rewatch to remember.

See that's the problem with April...if she constantly uses powers she didn't earn through hard work then isn't that kinda boring?

If she saves the guys with some random psychic power isn't that unsatisfying?

she's learning to be a kunoichi/ninja and seems to be getting pretty good at it..shouldn't we see her save the day with that skill instead? (I can only recall once she actually saved everyone with her ninja skills...and it was just a finishing blow.)

the boys don't have a cop out power, why should she?
