I'm surprised she actually have the red make-up on her face. One would think that as the first thing to go during the paint process.

I will aim to get another Baxter as well. I'd like to have all the fly detailing that sticks out of the clothing painted up.

Too bad playmates don't have a takara tomy partner coy like Hasbro does. Would be nice to have an accurate repaint meant for adult collectors.

It's a neat figure. Head size is perfect for a custom if you want to build human Karai.
For me , I still like Baxterfly.

The head here is good. I'd prefer better body paint apps, but I'm ok with it .
I really wish Stockman fly had painted teeth

I've come to the conclusion that essentially any figure from this line is going to need repaints, I love the line, don't get me wrong. It's affordable and well made, but having to paint every figure gets old. Regardless, I want the fly and snake Karai (mostly for the human head to try to use in a custom).

I'm going to have to learn to customize well because of how crappy the paint is on most figures.

Karai looks awesome! Baxter isn't as bad as I thought, but could be better. I am not going to worry about customizing them. However, with white and gray paint, those Mystic turtles will be improved.

As for collectibles, Revoltech is expensive and the quality looks too fragile. I want Diamond Select to make 2k12 TMNT figures like they did with Star Trek: The Next Generation.

They're garbage. Straight up. Toys that cost less & were made 25 years ago have twice the paint & articulation. This sh*t is unjustifiable.

I wonder, does the lack of quality usually impact sales? They're cutting corners to keep costs down, but if that means sales go down as well... is it worth it?

I know that traditionally the toy line has been hugely important to keeping the show and the rest of the property rolling, especially for TMNT. And I recall as the 2003 toy line went on the things became glorified Happy Meal toys (and there was a specific point where I decided to stop buying them outright). I definitely wondered if things would've played out differently for that show's run (like possibly avoiding the gimmicky later seasons) if the toys/merchandise were managed better.

Man Baxter looks so plain. I agree its getting harder to get excited for these new figures. I have said this once I will say it again. Playmates figures should be $5.00 a piece since they half ass everything.

from a collectors stand point its not, but i dont think Playmates really cares about collectors they make these for kids and they care more about bottom dollar. i know kids will still want them no matter how crude the paint apps are IMO

Oh, for sure. That's no way Playmates cares that much about the collector's market. But even as a kid, I knew when a toy was cheap junk. The less articulation and the more "basic" it looked, the less appealing it was. Of course, the kids aren't the ones actually buying the things.

Either way - I'm still curious what the sales figures are like before and after companies start cheaping out like this. But I doubt that kind of information's even publicly available.

I hope we have what happened to Baxter happen to Bebop, by that I mean DVD gets one without painted teeth yet the final one has painted teeth because that playmates usually paints the teeth.

Agreed. The 1989 original was heaps better than "Stockman-Fly" and IT WAS MADE IN THE LATE 80s!

It would be nice if DVD could post more shots of the back. I can barely see the new Napoleon Bonafrog there.

It's ironic, Playmates should have charged $8.99 for the original TMNT figures and $3.99 for these.
