Nice episode although I'm really starting to feel this show is starting to become too "mutant-centric" in the story line.

I bet Zeck will name himself and Steranko.

As cool as that would be, I do think Mikey will name them, though it'll be interesting to see how he comes up with said names.

As for the episode, I loved it. Yes, it was a bit rushed, but I still liked the fight scenes and how Leo not only went toe to toe with Shredder but how he pretty much said he'd kill everyone unless they let Karai go. Wow! Never thought Leo would say that! I was glad April stayed behind as the show needs to get back to just the Turtles and it has. I felt so bad for Karai, but at least now they have a hint as to where she might be so they can go and rescue her. And the mutations were definitely brutal. I do like Zeck and Steranko so they should be amusing as mutants for sure. Overall, a pretty good episode.

Really? You're only starting to feel that way now? Almost every episode introduces a new mutant. It's ridiculous.

Not much I can really say about this one:
  • Hopefully all the people complaining in the whining thread that Mikey is being "mistreated" in this series will be satisfied with how he was "treated" in this episode. Because he was awesome!
  • Glad to see Karai again, even if she is still a snake.
  • Seeing the Turtles fight Shredder at the docks was pretty awesome.
  • April & Casey sitting on the sidelines for once, shock horror!
  • Loved the 1987 reference.
  • Bebop & Rocskeady, at last! Was hoping to see more of them though.
  • I REALLY don't like Bebop's voice. I wish they could change it.
  • What's this comet thing about?

As he watches it go by at the end of the issue, we see serpent Karai, watching the same thing from somewhere else in the city and she briefly takes her human form as it goes by, before slithering off again as a snake.
Now it may be a bit of a leap that the show uses lore established in the comic, but I certainly thought it was worth mentioning. And I'd also recommend the new animated adventures comics, they can be fun and make more use of the under-used mutants from the show.

So a couple of questions about the mutation scene.

I know it appeared earlier, but what's the point of this giant mutagen bubble when it's been established that it only takes a single canister (if not less) to mutate someone?

What's up with the teeth mutating? Steranko's gold teeth changed despite not being organic, and Zeck's tusks are chipped despite the fact that he just grew them.

Why Rocksteady's clothes different from Steranko's? I can buy that he was wearing a sleeveless shirt under that coat, but why are his pants different and what's up with that giant metal thing on his back?

I'm just glad Bebop and Rocksteady were mutated from humans who resembled their characters. I remember people saying:

- Fon and those two other Purple Dragon guys would become Bebop and Rocksteady. LOL, I knew those throwaway characters would never be Bebop and Rocksteady

- Bebop and Rocksteady would mutate from animals this time and not have been human at all. This again I knew would never happen, a big part of Bebop and Rocksteady's character is they were once human.

Bebop looks like Bebop does in the original toon and IDW only with a tron outfit, (he's black with a purple mohawk and shades and he's skinnier), and while Rocksteady has never been a Russian general before, at least he still has blonde hair and sort of resembles Rocksteady in the way he acts.

Now I wonder if OT Rocksteady was possibly Russian as well...

Yes, they sure looked like the leaked designs.

Was this from when it was all just speculation on wheter or not they would even be in the show? If it's from after the designs were revealed then yeah sure. If these memories are from the speculation age, how did you know that? Steranko was just in one episode before Kuro Kabuto (and his role was really small), he was the very definition of a throwaway character.

Weren't there episodes of the Fred Wolf cartoon where the writers outright forgot that they were once human? I can remember one episode in particular where they claim to have come from a zoo, the dialogue isn't even ambigious, they outright say they were animals. The only times I can think of where their former human identities were important in any meaningful way, is when they started to become more animal in the Archie series (and quite frankly, I think Murphy just forgot that they were once human and just put the clarification into issue 25 because he realised that he messed up), the few times they meet up with their old gang, in the IDW series where they gladly sacrificed their humanity for power and when Hob took issue with them being hybrid mutants. Who cares what they start out as? Splinter, Shredder, Mondo Gecko, Leatherhead, Rahzar, Slash and Wingnut all have radically different origins depending on continuity and very few people care if they start out as humans, animals, aliens or demons.

Whatever, and who the hell cares if Rocksteady had blonde hair before he got mutated? Seriously nobody cares about what Bebop and Rocksteady look like before they mutate.

If they started out as animals, nobody would care.
If they started out two asians instead of a black and a white man, nobody would care.
If niether of them were American, nobody would care.
If they started out as children instead of adults, nobody would care.

The staff of the show didn't even care about them being street punks, you know why? Because all that matters with these characters is that they're a mutant warthog and a mutant rhino, that's it.

No, he was quite clearly American. Maybe he moved to America as a child but there's nothing to indicate that.

Amazing episode. My favorite of this season so far, and one of my favorites in the series.

I really liked how Zeck and Sterenko stood their ground against the turtles, it was nice seeing them go all out before they got mutated.

The scenes with the turtles and Karai were also very nice and the fight scene against Shredder was very well done.

This is an episode that reminded me why I'm a fan of this series. Loved it.

Gosh, I loved this episode my favourite scene was with Leo and Karai. I just loved how he cared for her but actually it felt more like a brother-sister moment than a "I care about you because I like you" thingy. Leo still has a strong connection with Karai which I find pretty interesting and twisted. And I loved the fight between Shredder and Leo. I just admire him how he has grown and matured a lot and I could notice how the skills of the turtles improved, too.

Although a few of you guys said that Zack is really annoying in this episode I have to admit that he's on of my favorite character. With his insane personality and random "yihii" shouting... I always have to laugh. I just love that guy! His Bebop style is pretty strange, but I think I will get used to it. All in all, loved it!

I'm happy with this episode over all as it's moving things along and we finally get Karai back in the mix (sort of).
Boy so much went down in this episode I don't know where to start!
I'm enjoying the temporary pizza shop home but have to wonder if it's the same one from the Pizza Face episode or if it's a different one?
There seems to be slight differences to this one if you watch both episodes.
Which then I have to ponder if the Pizza Face episode was just a dream?

I like that Leo, Raph, & Casey went back to the old lair to get some things.
On a side note I still can't stand this version of Casey though and I'd actually like to see the writers mutate him.

Also it's nice to know Don's working on a retromutagen and I hope an X-Men cure type storyline comes from that.
Or they have him team up with Baxter who ends up trying to double cross him.

Steranko & Zeck are an interesting duo but I have to say them becoming Bebop & Rocksteady (which I'm sure Mikey will name them that) seems a bit forced.
I'd much rather them just stay new characters and if they must be mutated Ivan be a bear & Anton be merged with his outfit becoming some sort of techo-mutant.
I really hate to see Steranko look his height for some reason also and Shredder should have just killed them (but I know that's not going to happen on a kids show even if this one likes to push the limits).
I do have to comment on the roof top fight and how it was probably one of the best battles since they got their butts handed to them by Slash.
I really loved when Steranko punched Raphael and left the mark on his head.

Karai was pretty bad ass in this episode, it sucks they have to turn her back to a human and just can't stabilize her mutation so she doesn't lose her mind and can be a shape shifter.
Sucks she got away but I guess her clue was to find her at an old warehouse that has old blimps or something as someone stated here after researching it.
I guess that will bring on the turtle blimp.

I'm glad Fishface and Rahzar are getting more screen time and lines as I feel they are very under used in the show.

One thing I thought was odd though was during the fights on both the roof top and on the docks that no Kraangs attacked anyone.
I mean most of the time since returning to the city everyone has been hiding from them and then we have big battles and none of it gets noticed by the Kraang at all? Just seems a bit odd to me.
Did Shredder call ahead and say oh hey guys! My goons and I are going to be doing some fighting so just stay away ok?

Speaking of Shredder, man I sure hope he has a big fall coming soon at the hands of Tigerclaw or the Kraang or something.
He's so mental and getting on my last nerves with this "She's my daughter!" crap.

Buuuuuut other than that I thought everything else went really well and can't wait for the next episode whenever that may be (sick of these breaks!! Just air the damn show please!)

This episode was really good. I was so happy to finally see Karai again, especially since we really didn't get a good look at her when she was first mutated. The only thing that I don't really get is why she is also mentally becoming a snake. I know that Splinter had that issue last episode, but the turtles don't think like turtles.

The mutation of Bebop and Rocksteady was pretty dark, even with the humor that was thrown in.

Overall, I really enjoyed this episode and am looking forward to more

Only thing I can figure is that Splinter and Karai were just out there trying to survive. Maybe psychological stress of everything that had and was happening around them played a role. The Turtles however have each other and their friends to keep them grounded.

Granted Mikey did not turn feral when he was alone trying to survive in Dimension X for, what was to him, months. Maybe the Turtles have an easier time being within a human mindset, whereas maybe humans that turn into other things have a harder time keeping out of mentally becoming what they turned into. Such as resisting becoming mentally rat-like, the reverse of the Turtles embracing a human mind.

Well, I finally saw the episode. It did cheer me up. My mood was completely down after returning home last night. The job I interviewed for....I just don't think I have a chance at getting the job due to my being tied to the company I'm working for currently and their lack of flexibility to allow me to take time off to relocate if it comes to that, but never mind.

Anyway, the ep was okay. Really enjoyed the moments with Karai and how she seems to be losing control of her mind and becoming more snake-like. I personally like that. Maybe it runs in the family. We saw what happened with Splinter. :p

Let's see, I also enjoyed Leo's line about how he would kill everyone there if they didn't let Karai go. That's very bold for this show. You know, this ep in general, imo, shows just how much all four turtles have grown in their combatant skill. I like how they were able to fight against Shredder better than they had in the past and I like all the fights going on at the same time at the docks.

Ah, the part where Steranko pulled out that gattling gun and was going nuts shooting, reminded me of one of my favorite moments in the OT and the old arcade games and Turtles in Time and Hyperstone Heist...with Rocksteady doing something similar. In the OT ep that came to mind, he pulled out that machine gun of his, shooting real bullets (before they changed all the guns into Dimension X laser gun weapons for censors sake I guess) and Rocksteady blindly shooting everywhere and the other three (Leo, Mikey, and Raph) having to hide and dodge it. You know, early Bebop and Rocksteady before they became total morons and were still an actual threat because of their brawn and stuff. Anyway, Leo stopped Rocksteady from shooting by slicing through a signal light pole (or whatever you'd call it) which fell on Rocksteady's head. Since I knew Steranko was going to become Rocksteady, that's probably why I thought of that.

Oh I noticed some folks mentioned not liking Zeck for this ep. Well, in his first appearance he was calm, cool, and collected. The way he acted in this episode actually made sense to me. He wasn't in control, he's scared of the Kraang, he's starving, and desperate. Dunno, seems like a likely human reaction to me to a stressful situation. I did like how the two worked together, though...even though I'm still not fond of the whole Bebop and Rocksteady thing, even though I like their backstories for this series. I just feel that Bebop, Rocksteady, and Fly Baxter is way too much pandering...but alas, not much I can say about it, right? They are here to stay.

Oh, now that I got to see the whole ep, I think the "look" Casey and April had definitely can me summed up to awkwardness, but not in the sense that everyone else has been mostly saying. The place is cramped. There's no real privacy. At least in North Hampton, April had her own space and privacy, and the guy were probably all shacked up together or shared. I'm assuming that even in season 1 when April was staying in the lair, she probably had her own private space, like Karai did when she was there. At the start of the ep we see April rolling up a sleeping bag and stuff right out in the open.

So yeah, I truly do think it's more of a, "I'm a girl stuck sharing a space with a boy in close quarters" and vice-versa for Casey.

I wonder if Karai is becoming more snake-like because of her once being human and because something spilled in the chemical Baxter added to the mutagen.

That aside, I think it has more to do with the fact that they were human...although I have no proof that. We saw Splinter give in to his rat side, we see Karai giving into her snake side, Tigerclaw thinks of himself as a tiger (but maybe since he's so accepting of his mutation, he won't give into his ravage tiger side)...I dunno. I'm still wondering if Baxter's brain will slowly start to deteriorate as time goes by. Then there's Rahzar and Fishface...they still seem pretty humanlike (well Fishface anyway). I think Rahzar was more embracing of his current form.`
