When the story's done, it's done.

Why there is no need to done seven seasons when the 1987 and 2003 show has done it already? Will you prefer to end it on season 4 and then start the next show than to have it running for 7 or more season before the end?

Depends, if season 4 has a perfect ending or the season as a whole is just bad, then it would probably be a good idea to end it. If season 4 is good, but does not have a perfect ending, then it would be nice for it to continue.

So basically, if it's at a low point or the highest point it should end, if it's good but no the highest point then it can continue.

If season 4 is the last, then I say let it end on a good note. If there's a chance for a season 5, then leave season 4 open ended to where you can continue the story if it's possible.

We're talking about the show ending with Season 4 again? You do realize Season 4 will end on episode 98, right? No way is the show going to have less than 100 episodes.

The show will have 7 seasons. I am calling it now.

Again with this 7 seasons crap, why do you assume that? Because the last one had 7 seasons and therefore you think this one must be at least as long?

Now it might be 7 seasons or longer, I want it to continue after season 4 as long as it's good enough, but you can't assume that a show will last for 4 more years. A lot can happen in 4 years dude.

7 seasons is the standard length for a successful show, that's why. This is how it goes:

Shows canceled at:

- Season 1 = implies the show bombed
- Season 2 = implies the network gave the show another chance but it bombed
- Season 3 = implies a decently successful show with low ratings
- Season 4-5 = successful series
- Seasons 6-7 = very successful series
- Season 8 or beyond = Yeah its time to end this already

Sym-Bionic Titan was successful and only got 1 season due to some sh*t with toys, so you're wrong about a show not being successful just because it got cancelled after 1 season.
Just because a show is good, doesn't mean it needs to get a whole lot of seasons. The Last Airbender had 3 seasons and it was fine.
It's all about ending the story in a good way.

Sorry for jumping in, but I like to come onto this thread for actual information. Unless the show has actually either been cancelled or renewed for a fifth season, can we drop this subject?

That's a good way to look at it. Plus when you think about it the Harry Potter books took place over the course of the character's 7 years in Hogwarts, so if it had been done as a television show, then it would've had 7 seasons.

Just because a show ends at 5 doesn't mean anything. Look at the X-Men & Spiderman Animated series' of the 90s, both lasted 5 seasons. Both of those shows could have easily gone 8+, but ended at 5 because the creators of the shows had a 5 year plan of the show and ended the show with their fitting ending for the show. Ciro said from the start he had a 5 year plan for this show as well.

What adds more to it is this is a very time consuming show to make, that could make it much easier to end it where Ciro intended at 5.

Hell, I think a lot of us on here are hoping Nick would do a feature length movie for the show, and if that did happen, the show would need to end, because with the time it takes to make individual episodes, there's no chance they could do the show and a movie at the same time. It would have to be one or the other.

I'd prefer personally Ciro's 5 season plan with a proper ending and a movie that follows the series, then a dragged out series with a possible random ending point. This show is too good to let it end on a mediocre note.

If they have a plan, then commit to it. If the plan all along was 5 seasons, then do it, and I'll be happy with how well this show was done and hope we get one final feature length movie to put the stamp on the show.

Not true in all cases.

I remember Ciro said he had a 5 year plan, but he could finish it in 3. I feel like he still could, as I think Shredder and the Kraang will be out of the picture for 4 and 5. Don't get me wrong, I would love for this show to go on for 5 seasons, but if Nick decides not to renew it for a fifth season and it ends in the fourth season, it'd be better for the Turtles to have their final battle with Shredder in season 4.

Saying "he had a 5 year plan" is not the same as, "I want to make 5 seasons and call it quits."

It sounds like he wanted to make at least 5 seasons, but is more than willing to make as many more as the ratings allow.

Maybe not, but he said that for a reason because sometimes if shows last too long, it's hard to keep churning out the same stuff. So I think Ciro intended for there to be five seasons at the most because he wasn't sure if Nick would want to continue the series. As it is, there's only one more season left so far, and if that's the end, then Ciro will have to end it there, and I think he can do that if he has a good outline of where he wants to go. Sure, I'd love for it to last longer, but there's just no guarantee of that happening, so you have to look at the alternatives whether you like it or not.

Sure, 4Kids had seven seasons, but two of those seasons weren't the best in a lot of fans' eyes (including mine) and I don't want that to happen to this show either. If it has to end at season 4, then so be it. If it ends at season 5, then great.

I'm still bitter about Gargoyles only runnig two good seasons (granted one of them double-length) and then being passed off to a company that treated it like crap... so I'll take what I can get for TMNT. I'm hoping that it'll at least last its planned run of 5 seasons, and that they'll get renewed after that; at that point it would probably be a smart move to make self-encapsulated story arcs unless more than one season is guaranteed.

Random thought occurred to me: What if we're getting 20 eps in season 4 because they're making several double-length episodes?

I believe that is what became the spin off, another reason why I believe the 4th season was reduced to 20 episodes to allow more time to create this new show.

Plus as I've said, this show is very time consuming to make show. People complain about the breaks as it is, imagine if they were creating two shows at the same time, that's twice as long to dish out episodes.

You people wouldn't know what to do with yourselves with either double the breaks or twice the time between breaks...

They haven't even gotten to the Triceratons yet. Nor did they start the time travel stories with Renet. Nor did we get to Bishop and EPF fleshed out.

We also know Fugitoid is appearing later this season so there's so much to do.
