Holy crap! I am so glad that I didn't skip this episode. It is so good.
This episode with the angles and perspective made it looked so cinematic. One major complaint though. I am really starting to get annoyed with Michelangelo's effortless ability to get past contraptions and other things. You think April has shades of mary sue? Mikey is edging closer to the pool of mary suedom to a point of seeing his own golden reflection. One other thing is not so much a complaint but more of a observation. It seemed kind of fickle that Splinter's ninja cheat code can't work in one episode with Creeping Doom but can work here even though both inflictions involved the brain. What's up with that?

I agree with this part from the IGN review:
Quote:
Master Splinter says they need to work as a team, but then what ends up happening is Leo saves Raph and Mikey...and Mikey saves Donnie. it would have been nice to see the traps relate to each other in some way. But overall it was still good for what it was. It was great seeing the turtles all stressed over saving Karai...but i didn't like how master splinter seemed so quick to let her go by saying "it's okay, at least i have you 4 boys" |

Good episode. Also this confirms that the people whining about Karai being de-mutated weeks ago had no clue what they were talking about. Baxter helped Karai regained her human form, but she's clearly still a mutant.

This is one of my favorite episodes now. I loved so much about this one.
We get to see all the bad guys together, Fishface going belly up LOL. When Rocksteady was approaching Raph with his weapons, was that a slight nod to IDW? Scared me a bit for a second there. Loved Donnie and Leo fight, about time Donnie yelled back. The look on Leo's face when the formula failed, I never seem to tire of seeing him devastated. ICK playing cards! Too cute, I love his attitude and is that the first time he "spoke"? Mikey's banter with Bebop and Rocksteady about naming the Toilet of Doom or whatever. Thing that irked me.. Leo saved Raph and Raph did nothing!! Again?! It was supposed to be all of them working together, but Raph didn't get to do anything really, Leo did most of it, again. What a waste. |

All I'm saying is, Raph better do something incredible to save Leo's sorry shell in the finale, or this would be the worst I've seen Raph handled in any incarnation yet. And I'm not even a huge Raph fan, to begin with.

To me, it seem like that he really didn't want to but the situation was beyond his control.

It was real nice to see Mr. Murakami again! I also liked the Pokemon/Digimon-type cards Mike and ICK were playing with.
EDIT: Holy crap it's the Flushomatic! Last edited by miru; 09-13-2015 at 01:52 PM. |

I think there was Foreshadowing in this episode.
This is the 2nd time Mikey nearly get's double mutated (1st time being Attack of the Mega Shredder) and he's imagining what he looks like with a 2nd mutation. Also he said If I was an evil villian when he wanted to give the Flush o Matic a better name. So I think maybe Mikey could be double mutated in the future (2nd half of season 4 or season 5).

I really enjoyed this episode a ton!! It had a good blend of darkness (Donatello's trap was seriously disturbing to me, all tied down and electrocuted!
The fight between the brothers was good to see (FINALLY glad to see Donnie tell Leo to back the heck off about "trying harder"), it is inevitable that all this stress would lead to some in-fighting eventually. Splinter's wheel (OMG) and Mikey playing cards with Ice Cream Kitty were fantastic. And I was super happy to see Mr. Murakami again, even though technically it wasn't *really* him. It was REALLY NICE to see them maybe FINALLY making some progress on de-brain-worming Karai (although, I did kind of wonder why, if Rockwell was able to psychically pull the brainworm out of Slash, why couldn't they just call him over to help with Karai's brainworm? Oh well). Loved that all the henchmutants got some time to shine, and the fight scene between them all was great fun. Rocksteady running through walls made me happy, Bebop being a cocky smart-alec and getting his butt kicked despite it made me laugh, and seeing Xever floating upside down gave me the creeps. I just really, REALLY hope the show does right by Karai from here on out. She's been really mistreated in my opinion, and I hope they can do something intelligent with her after this whole mutation/mind control arc that has gone on for way too long, in my opinion. Overall, highly enjoyable to me!

Just to input a little child perspective (I'm not sure how many people here have children, young cousins, nieces, nephews, etc.):
This and 'Dream Beavers' were the only ones to scare my kids thus far, and while 'Dream Beavers' was easy as it was all just bad dreams, this one admittedly I thought was a bit much. They seemed okay at first, but we just finished dinner and my son outright blurted out that he didn't like this one. His words: "I thought they were going to die." Of course my charming husband started playing this music as we were washing dishes, bless his deranged soul. But on the plus side, I am very happy Karai is back. And I think that's why they weren't really complaining at first, we were all relieved to see her "spit out the yucky worm sucker" (daughter's words). Looking forward to seeing Karai come back now. |

With the Triceraton thing in the 2k3 it was implied that the probe helmet would painfully scan the brain of it's for any info on the Fugatoid, and once scan was complete it would microwave the brain killing them instantly. Quote:
So Leo can only hear Donnie, Mikey can only hear Leo Raph can only hear Mikey and Donnie can only hear Raph. In the fic Shredder and Karai were intending to torture Leo by having him know his brothers are suffering and being unable to truly know what is happening to his bros and worse being unable to do anything about it. She's free of the initial mind worm...but something tells me she isn't as free as we would like to hope. After all we had that one moment in Attack of the Mega Shredder when Shredder is having those additional mind worms plugged into her brain. So she obviously will see the Mind Worm as reason to hate Shredder, but she will also still see the Turtles and Splinter as the Enemy as well. |

o.O Wow, rather harsh one and pretty good episode. Liked seeing Splinter get involved, esp after recent discussion of him staying out of things too often. And finally the stress reaches everyone's breaking point and a good old fashioned big sibling fight ensues.
The wheel... Only thing odd to me was not seeing Shredder around at least quietly watching over everything after having been one to subject Karai to the brain worm for his own use in the first place. |

It's why I stopped watching a LONG Time ago. I only come on here once in a while to chat with folks, but the show itself? If you're a Raph fan...all you can look forward to is him talking to more Pigeons as if he's the woman in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. I remember Mikey saved Raph in the Punk Frogs episode, him being turned into a flower, and him being turned into a slave for Shredder for like 2 minutes and then Leo saved him by 'making fun of him' (saw bits of that on youtube, just for the 'car crash' type of curiosity)... So I am not surprised at all to read what you typed. And hey, this isn't a slight to anyone who enjoys the show. Just adds more fuel to the fire as to why I did stop watching it long ago. The guy's just a big, useless Puss in this incarnation. Just MY opinion. |
