Actually when that statement had been made, Family Guy had been on air for six years. So that line was make in reference to the fact that Family Guy had been around for 6 years and Bonnie had yet to give birth.

This isn't a vent, whine or criticism, I just don't know where else to post it:

Woke up today to find 3 whole episodes of the Nick show to watch suddenly available online. It's gonna be a fun night for me tonight!

I know it's not personally my complaint, but Casey's excitement after the Earth was destroyed.

Oh god, here we go

You do realise that this was a dark episode for a kids cartoon, Splinter death was on screen, everyone died, the earth was destroyed so the creators had to have a lighthearted moment for kids at the end to show that there was hope.

If they didn't then Ciro would be getting a lot of angry letters from angry parents.

Casey's line didn't bother me, I would have loved to see more angsty at the end but this is a kids cartoon not an adult cartoon.

If you want more angsty go read issue 44 and 45 IDW comic.

But while i'm on the moaning thread.

I did not like Mikey's acid trip, it was just wrong.

Aside from Casey's stupidass "this is awesome!" comment, I have no qualms with the finale.

So you're posting other people's complaints for them now?

There are better ways to do that.

For example...have Mikey and Casey be sad but let someone like Raph be the 'big brother' and try to take their minds off of it. Push them into doing something out of character for him...play a game, or something like that. Have Casey & Mikey fight it/not want to do it at first...have the two be hesitant/unwilling. But then have the two figure out what Raph is up to, and figure out Why he's doing it...then have them join in.

You could even make it a slow build-up where they try to get others to do it. Have a little voice over about 'not giving up'.

That right there? Better than just one talking about Pepperoni and the other going "Yay".

There's like one line at the end of the episode to lighten up the dark tone , it's so minor that it's hardly worth complaining about.

No, it's what two characters did (Mikey and Casey) which were handled poorly. They were stupid writing choices to put in there, especially after them watching the Death of Splinter & the Explosion of the Entire Earth in the same episode.

If you are going to go to the length of showing Splinter being killed On-Screen, and then on top of that kill billions of folks aka The Entire Earth, then don't haphazardly try to write humor that doesn't work.

If you're going to go That Far, then either end it dark all the way...or, if you want to put humor at the end, then write better. Because yes, there are better ways that it could have been done.

It was poor writing.

Look at Same As It Never Was from the 2003 cartoon. That was dark too, but it didn't try to force poor humor into the ending of the episode.

Yeah...although Mikey didn't bother me, only Casey. I think if he would've been like "Whoa, really?" in surprise, it probably wouldn't have bothered me as much.

I have to wonder if that last line from Casey was needed in the first place and seem kind of rhetorical for the moment?

Like would last shot have felt off if you edit/mute out that last line and still have same effect and still be consider appropriate towards the current mindset of the characters?

I feel it would've been strange not to have a reaction or line. Instead of Casey's line, they just should've gone with something else....even something as simple as "What?!" by everyone.

Mikey was sad (A few moments ago he was crying and hugging Splinters dead body) , his 'Holy Pepperoni' line wasn't for humor, you could clearly see he was still upset, he wasn't cracking jokes at the end.

I got that Mutants in space book the other day, Casey's line wasn't in it but if Season 4 starts straight after.

In the book

Spoiler:
Raph gets mad and grabs Fugitoid by the neck and shoulder and the Fugitoid slaps Raph away but if they change it, Raph will probably do it to Casey

Or maybe April has a go at Casey like she did in Within the Woods.

Yeah, this. This is the reason Mikey didn't bother me for the ending scene. He was legit sad and upset when he said, "Holy pepperoni". It's probably equivalent to someone saying, "Holy crap" or replace crap with another four-letter word they can't get away with saying in kids show. Casey's reaction was just way too out of place.

Interesting if that does happen...or April just have a go at him. That bothered me about the North Hampton eps...the fact we never go to see Casey..well...upset.

That aside, I really REALLY hope that they do pick up right where this season ended.

I am really skeptical of them picking up things because this show's best interest is not really telling a story but more of "what will look really cool, awesome, or bring the most shock value at the moment". That kind of thought process can bring some great episodes that are pace like a movie, but it when it comes to a season, there no substance or development within them.

People complain about the mind serum arc due tediousness of subject involved, most of them don't like concept of it with Karai. Hell I utterly hated the idea but the execution of it was ...what's that word...competent. Mostly because it was something that can be put in the background while doing something else at the given time but still gives you impression that they haven't forgotten that it had happen.

This with the Earth being gone is a tragedy but there is at least a call to action for characters to do something about it, but in other times whenever there is a tragedy in this show that can't be fix, then that's when plot amnesia usually happens instead of using tragedies as part of the characters' development.

Casey struck me as in denial of all that's happened. He's using the fact they are going on an adventure into space as a way to distract him from the heavier subject of the Earth and all they loved is gone.

It's kinda like how in Drama Shows like Gray's Anatomy and stuff when a character dies there is always one person who treats the whole thing as a joke until the sudden reality of the situation hits them.

This is why I hope they pick up right where it left off to show this...them going through the five stages of grief.

Sup yall,

I finally started watching the Nick series of TMNT and I am hooked. I really like how the show has some legit actors to do the voices.

I'm currently on Ep.14 of Season 1. Hoping to catch up soon.
