I still don't agree with Cubed's extremely biased views on anime. Sure there are a lot of shows out there with the fan service, and if you go to an anime forum with fans that watch shows straight from Japan before Funimation and 4Kids duel to the death to see who gets to dub it, they'll usually post that kinda thing on their sigs and banners and what-have-you.... but I really don't see ALL anime being like that. Psycho-Pass, Attack on Titan and Parasyte are just 3 examples, not to mention Dragonball Super and Sailor Moon Crystal.

It's like someone going to a cartoon forum and seeing images and banners and sigs based on all these crappily simplistic drawn cartoons we have nowadays, and stating all US cartoons are drawn like crap.... without taking note of the better drawn shows like Young Justice, TMNT and Korra.

You're talking about mainstream anime popular with kids/teens like Dragonball, Sailor Moon, Attack on Titan, etc.

The majority of anime in Japan is slice of life shows, most of them are fanservice based and tons of anime now in Japan is practically softcore porn. Most anime is harem based, incest based (like a sister wanting to screw her brother), lesbian girls constantly fondling each other for the satisfaction of the male audience...and worst of all the girls in these shows are always underage teens. The fact that Japan gets away with showing 11-12 year old girls completely naked is disturbing.

The line between hentai and anime has gotten increasingly blurred in recent years. Nowadays you can show everything but full-blown penetration and it isn't considered hentai.

EXAMPLES. Seriously, I have never come across this kind of stuff on actual television with my nearly four/five years here. They air programs the same way we do. Adult themed shows wouldn't air during the day and evenings because kids watch television then. You pretty much just proved the point of how that type of junk would be aimed at adults, not kids.

I also did see a slice of life series back in January that was suggested to me called Isshukan Friend. It's fairly new apparently and lacked everything you just claimed and it's classified as slice of life.

I think the only way people get hentai here is if they go into an actual video store, go to the adult section and buy it...or use the Internet.

Think it depends on the anime. I love lots of anime and not all are fan service.

Noir I loved, no fan service. Dirty Pair, I also loved, fan service, sometimes. Well the movies are any way vs the TV show.

The only anime I consider boarder line is perhaps shows like Queen's Blade, mostly the later seasons. A show like Ikktousen were yes it has lots of fan service and cloths being lost in the fights, it does not reach the levels of Queen's Blade.

But the only really fan service anime I did like was Ikktousen though. Other than that, its mostly Dirty Pair, Vampire Hunter D, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Vampire Princess Myru, and others.

It's all relative. Many people can consider the McFarlane shows to reach borderline porn at times. Their humor also involves incest, underage sex and whatnot.

You also have to keep in mind, people are having sex since high school regardless of consent laws, but U.S cartoons (except the McFarlane ones) will never show that reality. Japan has different laws and aren't afraid of portraying that aspect of normal everyday life.

Yeah, the laws are different, but I still doubt you'd see what Cubed is going on about on television, unless airing very late at night or in the very early morning. I've just never come across it.

There were 26 episodes, but only 25 aired on actual television here and the final ep was banned by TV Tokyo because it did have some of the stuff Cubed mentioned, like underage junk with girls, sex, etc.

You know, I think he's watching shows like Dirty Pair, Nagima, Fruits Basket, Oh My Goddess, and the like. Those are the only ones I can think of off-hand that do that stuff regularly, but that's subjective, really. I can think of plenty of others in similar vein that DON'T- Princess Tutu or Rozen Maiden, for example, and there are plenty of non-slice anime that are completely devoid of it- Death Note, Wolf's Rain, Geneshaft, AD Police/Bubblegum Clash/Crisis, GItS SAC, Record of Lodoss Wars, Ninja Scroll, the Hunter D movies, etc.... anime covers such a broad spectrum that one almost has to go LOOKING for that sort of thing to keep running into it as much as he claims to! (And then we have the full-on hentai and other weirdness like Underlord, Biohunter, etc....)

Since like 2008 or so anime has been increasingly moving toward moe fanservice. Many shows are borderline softcore hentai now, they show bare breasts, kids naked, girls fondling each other, stories about incest, constant upskirt shots, etc.

Its either that or just shows about cute girls doing cute things, like Love Live, Idolmaster, K-on, etc.

Nostalgia Critic mentioned this in his review of the Sailor Moon dub released by DIC. Which only really went to show how he does hold a lot of ignorance in regards to said series. Though he does bring up some good points as well.

Such as for example the main characters are all 14 year old Middle School students, but you would swear by looking at them you would think they were in College.

He also brings up the point that the age of consent in Japan is 13. But there are still regulations and loop holes for that.

For example even though 13 year old can consent to have sex they are still expected to be with people within their age range. But that is only sex, other forms of foreplay is all perfectly legal.

There have been crackdowns on the sex trade involving teens in the 13-17 age range.
However there are still establishments where businessmen can go make out with women dressed up in school girl sets.

Last I looked, 4/5 years living here in Japan isn't 10 - 15 years ago. Also, the show I mentioned came out this year. No fan service or anything.

Once again, the junk you're talking about is stuff that wouldn't generally be AIRED on TV here during a time where kids can watch it like in most countries. And as someone else said, there's a wide spectrum of shows. Either you're purposely looking for these types of shows, or you're tuned into a 24-hour hentai station...if it actually exists. Like I said, most of what you said, I've never seen on television HERE. I've never come across it when flipping through stations like TV Tokyo, Animax, Fuji TV, Cartoon Network, etc.

That aside, seems they've been toning things down. Detective Conan comes to mind. The earlier eps (and the manga for that matter) seems way more bloody compared to now.

No country outside of Japan could ever get away with sexualizing minors, especially pre-teens as young as 10-12 and get away with it.

The newest Fate series has 11 year old girls making out with each other totally nude in hot springs. And the camera zooms in on the tongue kissing and they grind against each other. The girls are 11 in canon in the show too.

I don't know why people watch this stuff.
