Image did some pretty bizarre things early on, cyborg-izing Donnie and turning Splinter into a giant bat, but they did more to advance Raphael and Michelangelo as characters than their original creators or anyone else ever did before or since.
I also didn't, and don't, like the art. I know that on this place, especially, I'm fighting a losing battle, but here it is: There's NO reasonable excuse to do a black & white comic book unless you're broke, especially an action comic. Nobody actually prefers it. "Well, it keeps with the original Mirage style"... that they only used because they were broke. If they could have done TMNT in color affordably, they would have from the beginning. It wasn't a creative decision, it was a budgetary one. Having a romantic attachment to ugly, hard-to-decipher artwork just because "It fits the 'classic' style" is silly.

Comics are a commercial medium; make your book easy to read. Don't give people eyestrain because "It's Classic". That's a complete bullsh*t non-argument that amounts to, "It's better because that's the way they always did it." Except objectively, it's not better, it's absolutely worse. Image had the money to print in color, I get that they were going for a "thing" but it was a bad decision.

It really didn't help that the black & white art in Image mostly was drawn as if it were going to be colored and shaded later. It's just really sh*tty to look at.

I always liked the B&W for one reason: I didn't get distracted by the all red bandannas. I can tell the Turtles apart just fine with or without rainbow colors, but for me, they'll always wear red, purple, blue, and orange.

So sue me, Rainbow Brigade.

This is the part where they usually follow up with, "I've mostly only ever read TMNT comics", which in itself explains a lot.

Eh, to me they always wear multi-colored masks, when I read color Mirage reprints I just mentally "fix" it as I'm reading it.

No, I read lots of other comics. Mostly older marvel books.
And the occasional savage dragon.

Not me. B&W works if you're doing something with a "noir" feel, but I prefer my comics in living color, as it were. Even my Mirage reprints are in color, and that is as it should be, IMHO. Though, like CKD, I prefer the colored bandanas, as well. All red is just- confusing and annoying. I GET that they were going for a more "unified" look, but WHY?! REAL ninjas never did that, so what's the point of all one color? Besides, The only place I ever saw the red ones (originally) was the old NES game cover, and it made no sense to me there, either.

EXACTLY! Mentally fix that one-color broodiness! High five!

BUT, I had a giant poster of that NES cover art, and it was glorious. So at least there's that!

I had a few bad-ass TMNT posters back in the day. Dang it.

It would work so much on Netflix or HBO. It's where it would thrive

Too bad Grant Morrison isn't writing Us. We could all just wish really hard and the power of our collective imagination would make such a thing actually happen. Like that time Superman undid all of "Final Crisis" and the entire Multiverse collapsing on itself, just by wishing for a "happy ending".

Real life should be like comic books.

I'm drooling.

Season 1: TMNT #1-11 and the micro-series for the first season, ending with the Turtles retreating to Northampton. Some of Triceraton/TCRI stuff might need to be scaled back a bit, not sure. Skip Issues #8 (Renet) and #9 (Hattori).

Season 2: The Northampton arc, working in Tales Volume 1 (Rat King, Leatherhead, Nobody, and Cousin Sid) culminating in Return to New York.

Season 3: Leatherhead sequel, Shades of Grey, City at War.

I will donate to that cause, whether in blood or money.

No Renet?! SERIOUSLY?! C'mon, man, you GOTTA have her and Savanti!! I'd donate too, BTW.

I'd settle for seeing a well done live action version of "49th Street Stompers". My personal favorite.

The unmentionables for me I always like that story for how silly Casey acted during the whole thing. And everyone else was just along for the ride especially the Turtles who really didn't give a crap about it.

And honestly... these kind of press events are very controlled. Every one of these write-ups has been very similar, and that's because they were planned that way. They're promotional tools, commercials, that's it. That's how the business works.
Pretty much this. The actors fed us a whole heap of "this movie is awesome" malarkey for the last one - now they're turning around and saying it was crap. Based on that, how is anyone meant to believe them when they then say that this one is good?

I get that it's their job - they're paid to be shills for the movie they're in. But it's foolish to put any faith in it. Even if they do make the right noises about some creative decisions being better, it's still a long time til the movie drops - anything could happen in the editing room between now and then, and these actors have no control over it.

I don't think they're really trying to appeal to fans though - at best, they're trying to appeal to people who watched the Fred Wolf toon when they were kids but haven't really paid any attention to the franchise since then (and try to get them to bring their kids to the movie and buy the toys).

I want to see more of what happens to the trained child assassins who have to find a new direction in life once their one and only life objective of "Kill Shredder" has been accomplished. I'm even interested in seeing the supporting cast, the "normal" human characters, juggling their real lives to make room for these "freaks" they can't let anyone else know about.

Is there a way that we can get a Technodrome member to infiltrate either a network or a studio and put this into action? For the good of the franchise, of course. This would be a Maxwell Smart-level mission - so we're gonna need a shoe phone.

I doubt the Alice Sequel is going to make more than the first one because the Alice in Wonderland come out 6 years ago and we know what happens to other movie sequels that come out a long time after the 1st movie 'cough' Sin City 2 'cough' They don't do so well at the box office and Independence Day 2 is another concern and probably won't do well at the Box office as well.

Also it's going against X-Men in the US and then TMNT 2 a week later, which I think is a big mistake but I could be wrong and end up beating X-Men. In the UK X-Men comes out the 19th, Alice sequel on the 29th and then TMNT 2 vs Warcraft on June 3rd. I still want to know who's stupid idea this was on releasing Warcraft on the same day as TMNT 2.

Alice will most likely gross more than TMNT 2 but probably not by much.

I gotta agree, I prefer comics in color. But I'll take B/W with no duo shading over that garbage we got in the Color Classics.
