Nice nostalgia bias. One could ask themselves these same questions reading Mirage or watching the OT. It's not any of those things solely, it's all of those things, & it literally always has been... I do my best to ignore what would be objectively viewed as valid criticism, but this portion of your post isn't.

....no? While you're right regarding Mirage, the 80's show was always a goofball comedy with some action sprinkled in and silly looking monsters and bad guys. It was never super serious, super emotional, it was never true horror or gross out comedy or none of that. It was what it was, and save the Red Sky eps, it basically stayed what it was. And even then, Red Sky tried to be dark and edgy.... without really being all that dark edgy. Just.... darker colors and less puns and pizza jokes.

yeah.... Raph is pretty much useless except to be the random bully, put down Mikey and have a fling with Mona cause OLDSERIESSAIDSO. Oddly enough he hasn't really had any actual solo episodes, has he? Maybe half of the Casey intro one. But a whole ep mostly on his own? Nope?

...Yeah? The OT's first, 8th, 9th, & 10th seasons were serious enough, with dark elements thrown around, there are a fair number of episodes that generate feels, there's a whole bunch of horror & gross-out villains, etc. All of that was a factor, the only difference is the tone with which they were carried out, + Nick's creative team has the benefit of being able to appeal to adults on a certain level, now that the franchise has spanned multiple generations/demographics.

I repeat; nostalgia bias.

People are more than welcome to take issue with this show, but don't act like it's not doing the same things that its predecessors did, for the most part.

The people who keep complaining a Turtle is neglected the most amuse me greatly. People complaining about Raph, Mike, Don or Leo...whoever their favorite Turtle is.

So...complaining about the usage on some of the Main Title Characters 'amuses' you, and yet you'll complain about 'Hun' being Asian or the Neutrinos.

Even when Splinter DIED, you RARELY see the Turtles showing any reaction to it. 2003 Leo was pissed off for half of a season because Splinter ALMOST died and he failed. That was character development! "You were always Splinter's favorite." was GLOSSED OVER.
I definitely agree with your points on that. It's especially disconcerting because, well, the makers of the show knew that they had more than one season to work with...

There aren't that many shows, cartoon or otherwise, which get renewed for two more seasons before the 'current' season is even finished.

A lot of planning, arcs, opportunities, and so forth could have been set into motion. But they really didn't do any of that. And this is the same show that, on the same episode that the entire world blew up and Splinter died...it ends with Mikey smiling while getting a cup from Honeycutt and Casey saying 'This Will Be Awesome'.

There's 'being a cartoon', and then there's 'treating the audience like a bunch of idiots with a 5 minute attention span'.

I agree with you on that, too. In season 3 & 4? All I remember are the 2 minutes that he got 'turned evil, then turned right back into good'. And Mona Lisa.

That's...pretty much it.

They're quick to point out how ridiculous they think others are but fail to see how ridiculous they are.

Its because you guys complain for months and months about the same thing. I haven't brought up Hun being Asian in months. I moved on.

The only thing I will continually complain about is Turtle nostrils, but the Bay movies are universally hated by fans so I don't think that matters.

First off...before this? I only posted once since way back in September. So I haven't 'brought it up in months', either.

Second, I gave different points of views on the same problem/subject that I've said in the past, based on the most recent stuff I just recently saw & watched (I made that clear in my post...and as to why? Because I wanted to give it a 2nd chance, since I did enjoy the first year and a half of the show).

I could complain about something else, if that would ease things up for you.

For example...how come it has been 4 seasons and yet there has not been One Episode focused on a team-up between Mikey and Raphael? Leo and April had one in Season 3. So did Mikey and Casey Jones. But why not Raph & Mikey? Or even Raph & Donny?

'Bay movies are universally hated'. No they're not. Lot of people on this very forum enjoy those films. Do I? No. But quite a few do.

So if it's okay to 'continually complain about nostrils', then I think it's okay to bring up the subject of the usage of a main character (or characters) on a current cartoon show based on recent stuff I just saw during the past week.

Ya know......this thread is for complaining about the SHOW not for complaining about the people who complain about the show.

This is suppose to be a safe place to vent your feelings out. It was created because others got tired of hearing the complaints in the other threads.

I apologize. I was trying to do that but had to reply to other responses. But again, I apologize for that.

It's a FACT, a proven and verifiable FACT, that no show or series has EVER done justice by all four Turtles simultaneously. Except IDW, which has sort of gone the route of "Focus on One Turtle Per Year." Raph, then Leo, then Donnie, and now Mikey.

The Fred Wolf cartoon? Doesn't do justice by any of the four Turtles in terms of meaningful development or characterization (due to how mainstream cartoons were usually written in the 80's), but at least always gave equal screentime in terms of episodes.

The 4Kids cartoon? Donnie and Leo got the brunt of character development, Mikey got a lot of good stuff with the Battle Nexus, but Raph? Not much focus ever.

The Nick cartoon? Donnie and Leo again, Raph getting shafted usually, and Mikey being basically Tommy Boy--make that, Turtle Boy. Did you eat a lot of lead paint chips growing up, Mikester?

The Next Mutation? Abomination, we shall pretend it does not exist.

Mirage Volume 1? Leo and Raph got the most character development, Donnie got some, Mikey got mostly jack.

Mirage Volume 2? Leo and Donnie got the majority of focus, Raph got some focus by being a prisoner, Mikey got a little development... maybe if the series had gone more than 13 issues we'd have a better grasp on the breakdown; it was really rushed.

Image Volume 3? Mikey and Raph got the majority of character development, Donnie became a plot device, and Leo was just... Leo.

Mirage Volume 4? Mikey gets the most development, Leo and Donnie get a lot, too, and Raph... erg. Gameraph is NOT character development. It could've been, but it's Laird, so no.

The original cartoon gave the most even screentime to all 4 Turtles. They all had numerous solo episodes as well as many roles in major episodes.

I already said that Fred Wolf gave all four Turtles plenty of screentime.
And screentime is worth nothing if character development never happens.

There is character development and lessons learned, but the Turtles personalities never change much in any series so its not any different for the others.

This is a very inaccurate statement. There is quit a bit of development of the turtles in the 2k3 series. I can say that with confidence and I haven't even seen the whole series yet.
