Most of the new characters they've introduced are filler, yeah, but I don't really remember the 2003 series introducing too many good 'new characters' either, besides Agent Bishop of course.

So far, I think 4Kids and Nick have introduced close to the same number of new, unique, and successful characters.

4Kids: Bishop, Hun, Foot Mystics
Nick: Dogpound, Fishface, Tiger Claw

For 4Kids, I kinda wanna add Angel to the list as well, but she really didn't become prominent until IDW... she only appeared in, I think, 2 episodes of 4Kids TMNT?

several actually but she was only the focus in 2 mostly small cameo's in other episodes.

Only others I can add to this list are the FF villans such as Sh'okanabo, Viral,Darius, Torbin Zixx, Street Phantoms, Dark Turtles and Boss Zuko the others were not worth mentioning as they only appeared once or were incredibly lame (Triple Threat)

But Tobin Zixx isn't really a villain like Bishop he was an Anti-hero who liked screwing over the Turtles for his own ends. Kinda like a flawed Han Solo.

I don't think you can list ANY of the FF villains. None of them really contributed much and were only in one season...

I found the Fast Forward villains to be far more entertaining them any of Nickelodeon's "mutant of the week"s.

Considering neither the FF villains or Nick's "mutant of the week" have really mad much of an impact to the franchise as a whole, I find your argument a little weak.

I'm not dissing the FF villains or Nick's "mutant of the week", as I find them both tiresome; I'm just looking back and thinking about the main carryovers and standouts of the franchises.

REally wish we got that 2nd season instead BTTS. Hopefully IDW can make some use of them?

None of the series had truly standout villains besides Mirage (Shredder, Baxter, Karai, Rat King, Leatherhead, Triceratons, the Foot), the original cartoon (Krang, Bebop, Rocksteady, Baxter-fly), two from 4kids (Hun and Bishop), and Armaggon/Null/Maligna from Archie.

Even so, that's only two characters. TMNT didn't introduce many new memorable characters since it was heavily based on Mirage. Fast Forward did introduce more new characters but they weren't very memorable or liked.

Cylons mentioned 2 others, so 3, at least.

The 4kids series popularized many of the Mirage characters that were obscure before that cartoon.

It was the first animated version of Karai, the first appearance of the Elite Guards and Shredder Clones in animation, the first appearance of the Utroms and a large role for the Triceratons, first appearance of the Fugitoid in a cartoon, first animated appearances of Renet, Savanti, etc.

Even though the 4kids series didn't introduce too many new popular characters, its the series that made many Mirage characters popular and well known. People forget Karai was nothing more than an obscure character from the comics before the 2k3 series reinvented her.
